Doing the same mistakes for 25 years?

Yamiks rants a lot, but I think some don't realise its kind of "stage persona" entirely on purpose over the top (think AVGN).
If you don't concentrate on rough language, you will see that he's bringing entirely valid points which many other people brought up here.

what points?and by the way;which usable facts he gots in his videos?
look at my example;yamiks make skimmer goldrush public;for clicks.it was clear they would get nerved if they got to public..even to him.
then he comes next video along, and ranting about fdev about making gameplay unrentable..WHAT???
he feeds himself on a game for his own advantes while he eats the same game...
all his rough language is not funny;its what i sayd in my skimmer example...
its just an aggressive guy that eats elite in ranting vids which are most time pure aggression,
there helps even that bathduck sound while shipcrash videos nothing..
theres almost no information about the game;just raging and ranting for clicks, and he is even raging and ranting
about things he produced for clicks, like skimmer nervs..he is not funny, just destructive.

Back when the kickstarter had just finished one of the moderators at the time found an old article of letters to a gaming magazine, where someone was complaining about the original Elite.

The complaints were exactly the same as the complaints about Elite Dangerous. It just goes to show that gamers have not moved on in over 30 years and don't appear to have the imagination to think up new things to moan about! :D

This sounds so wrong-ways-about.

So don't watch his videos.

I find his approach entertaining and refreshing, destructive? Not in the slightest. We have ObsidianAnt who's videos are professional, entertaining and with a distinct personality most everyone respects...how was Yamiks as a fan of E-D trying out as a YouTuber to fit in alongside that level of professionalism...become a clone?

I think he chose the right route...an irreverent, tongue in cheek personal take on the experience of Elite-Dangerous.

he earns his money with his videochannel?
his videos, which brings him a lot of money
who earns money with nothing more as ranting and yelling about our beloved elite??
he is permanent ranting about a game which makes him money to live.

The guy's got 40k subs and mostly gets 50-100k views per vid. That's not "a lot of money", it's chump change. I don't care much about his content either way, but he ain't making a living from it.

yes,and this i what im wondering about;never see such a thing, that a guy get famous by a gamer community by destroying their game verbaly.
there are some elite channels that are realy informative and game relevated liKe down to earth astronomy, ricardos channel, chaoswolf and others..
on this channels you can find also critics, but also a lot of videos which shows the people play the game...
but yamiks seems not to play the game;there are also not very informative vids;he seems to rant the game!its amazing!not playing a game, just ranting it,
and getting 40k subs, which is enomous from the com of that game he rants!..what a phenomen!some people play elite, yamiks rant elite!
you can find him funny,if you whish, see 100000times the same shipcrush-bathduck QUEEEK is sooo funny,
but,he is a bad reference to start a conversation about the game on a serious base!!!"Yamiks?isnt that the guy who makes skimmer public for clicks to rant devs for nerving it,which got no other choice at this point???"conversation end.

You need to get out more, my friend. YouTube isn't a news channel, it's entertainment; good and bad...there's a recurring thing about skimmers in your posts I don't quite get, are you blaming Yamiks for FDev fixing the particular exploit you were making credits from?

I sense English isn't your first language, so my apologies if I'm missing something here...

I can think of easy fixes for all your issues above
Yes. Individually they're all easy issues to solve. But you still have to think of them before the players do, and every single mission has tens of them - perhaps hundreds for a complex mission.

There's nothing wrong with your mission idea - and the answer to 99% of the "what ifs" is ultimately "you fail the mission". But the mission programmers need to think of all those cases and handle them properly, and then QA need to find all the ones they missed, or you end up with a big pile of bug reports along the lines of "I uploaded the virus, and then I did X, and then I rammed the cap ship, but I just got the rebuy screen and the mission failed" ... except without any information about what X is or the player necessarily being aware that they did it. And then you get a bunch of posts about how "this mission sometimes doesn't work" was reported fifty times in beta and FDev clearly don't have a QA team, and this "advanced missions" patch is the worst thing since the last patch.

The big fixed-mission space games had about 30 missions each. That was not an unreasonable number to test through properly, and they really did think of a lot of cases of "what happens if this ship that shouldn't be possible to destroy gets destroyed anyway?". Elite Dangerous has, what, ten to fifteen broad mission types, depending on where you draw the line? So two or three complex mission scenarios per type that you get in addition to the normal missions.

How long is that going to last people before it becomes "oh, not the virus+bomb CZ mission again" or even "stacking virus+bomb missions can make you 200MCr/hour please nerf/don't nerf"? Is it worth spending "could have developed a Tie-Fighter-alike with the Cobra Engine and sold it separately" amounts of time doing so? (If it is, why not just do that and sell it separately? Have a Battle for Lugh spin-off, I'd buy it.)

You get this wrong. Not too many would even bother to contribute in threads like this.
And before you tell me that I just did, that was my first and the last post in this NULL-thread.
Just so you can adjust your perspectives (which of course won't happen).
Then what makes this post?

Sorry, what? You pretty much lost me after "yes".

40k subs isn't "enormous" though, and the guy is not "famous". I don't understand why you care.

I had absolutely no desire to accuse ye of making any sorta useful contribution at all...thought never would have crossed my mind

Its so bad in fact that I have absolutely no idea what point it is yer trying to make apart from the excuse to say ye disagree but yer not gonna discuss it.

Yer contribution is appreciated, yer point is still circling overhead somewhere ^

be known to 40k poeple is nothing for you?its not enormous?jesus, you lost me after this.
You must be new to youtube. 40k is nothing to sneeze at, sure. But 40k is also microscopic, considering that there are channels out there spanning upwards in the 10's of millions

It's neither nothing nor is it enormous. There are tens of thousands of channels that have that many subs, maybe even hundreds of thousands. Even in the highly niche subject area of ED, he has fewer than half the subs of the top channel. What's OA's 120,000 if we're already at "enormous" with 40,000? Gargantuan?

His point, if I may be so bold, is that the vast majority of people are not engaging in the drama-queening so prevalent around here either way. This 'almost everyone is deeply upset!' vibe exists only here, on the forums. In the real world people just buy a game, have fun, feel good then move on or keep playing if they feel like it. There is this sharp disconnect between the perceived reality ("very hates what is happening, FD is so stupid and everything could be so much better so easily and then they'd be succesful!") and reality, but its no use pointing it out. You'll just be called a white knight or a shill or whatever. :)

Watch my prediction: JWE will sell a truckload, reviews will be good, FD will have made another great step and a handful of 'special people' will complain for years that they got the number of teeth wrong in some obscure dinosaur the average gamer doesnt give the remotest crap about, and how FD needs to fix this ASAP or they'll die, which they will do anyway because they always focus on ED while neglecting the much more important dinosaurs. :p

Well, every forum has the salty people I guess.

Ye ED basically is Elite 2 with nicer graphics.

Have you played FE2? You realise that the flight model is completely different, right? Considering that the games largely consist of flying spaceships, to leave that fact out seems either ignorant or disingenuous.

Lazy way to make a game if you ask me but the diehards seem to enjoy it and will defend it to the death. They have a point though - it's not going to get any better...

I'm not a diehard fan, and I have huge problems with the game which I'm happy to discuss at length. But yes, I do enjoy it, or I wouldn't play it. I don't do anything I don't enjoy unless I really have to.

Most people who stick around here even though they don't like the game say that they do so in the hope that it will improve, and I think that's fair enough. But you don't believe it will ever get better, in which case I have to question what on earth you're doing here. Think about how much there is to see and do in the world - more than anyone could scratch the surface of in one lifetime. The idea that anyone would waste a single second of their life on a forum for a game they've completely given up on... that's baffling to me.

in my very humble opinion;

they made a mistake of thinking that a huge initial sales pickup and indeed the kickstarter, equated to a quality gaming experience.

what they didn't see was that players expected a reincarnation of a hugely successful title, but done in todays environments and catering to todays players.

In some ways, Elite:Dangerous is great! Graphically amazing and even better in VR.

The underlying mechanics, missions especially, and to some extent still, the C&P and engineering, was coded urine-poorly.

It's a sad affair, when I can say, that I enjoy NMS exploration a lot more than 'honk/scoop/jump' affair that is ED. I also think, that making it free-for-all pvp ruined the play/interaction/fun of the entire game.

In a game like ours, (in the main) players want an environment to 'blaze their own trail' and still meet up and see other players on their radar, without the constant necessity to get out of the way of 'mr bored playing Eve' type players.

And that my commanders is what we have. 2 games. 1 'for daddy-casual home from work let me relax trading/exploring', and 2 'for bored with Eve mechanics, so I'll go hang out at the CG and bust some daddy-casual player's noses'

Either FDev are blind to this, or they know and are happy with it.

And then again why wouldn't they be? People still continue to give them money....
