News Focused Feedback Forum Content Schedule

I'd recommend on keeping expectations as low as possible until we get some solid news. Mobile bases for huge exploration fleets sounds awesome, but I think we're lightyears (sorry) from that.

I hope not!
Sadly it has to be said that you are most likely right but as far as I'm concerned this would be by far the best use of Carriers and squadrons.

A MkII DDF, or something similar. Awesome! Perhaps we solo players will now be included in all the topics to be "discussed". I'd like an NPC crew to take part in squadrons and MC in general, or add to immersion. I also may be pleasantly surprised this time. :)

I agree. I'm not expecting much from the Q4 update, that way I can (hopefully) be pleasantly surprised!

So you’re not getting your hopes up to hopefully be pleasantly surprised... :)

Yep! It’s convoluted I agree.

I just worry that exploration isn’t that important to Frontier, seeing both how neglected it’s been and how it often feels like none of the devs have much of any interest in it. Things like putting it last in the feedback schedule for example, or waiting more than a year to fix the beige planets which 2.2 broke. I’m afraid that while Frontier might have heard the complaints about the lack of exploration development they might not have listened or understood the suggestions and ideas to improve it, nor considered what the people who actually explore in the game really want from it.

So, I’m tepidly looking forward to learning what Frontier has decided to do with exploration, but I’m half expecting them to put in a low effort and instead focus on Squadrons and other things which have a more direct combat use. The update history suggests this is what will happen, but it’s also possible for them to buck the trend for a change, so some glimmer of hope still exists in me.

In the end Elite is just a game afterall, and it’s very possible that the development path just isn’t going to satisfy me. Q4 will be a deciding update as to whether I spend any more money on the game or put it aside instead, and honestly it all hinges on the exploration improvements.

You don't have to tell me. I am trying really hard to be as negative and pessimistic as possible , because if I know one thing, it's best to assume worst case scenario with FD. But I am actively NOT getting my hopes up. No I explicitly expect them to surprise me how much they can screw up. "Hey here awesome guardian ruins!", "And now do it again, and again, and again, and again...", "Hey here, multicrew, oh sorry only combat roles!". Now how will they screw up exploration? Hmm... (i) it will be soo much more tedious, like now you have to honk 10 times, and (ii) it will not involve any skill at all, no brain activity required. You know, like honking 10 times.

And now we'll see what they come up with!

If you ask me (and I'm fully aware that nobody did) it all went out the window when Mr Brookes left us. All my hopes of anything meaningful live in the same part of my brain that thinks I'm going to win the lottery...

I kinda feel the opposite myself. Under Brookes we got Powerplay a useless expansion, CQC another useless expansion, original engineers and multicrew.

Since then, engineers is much better IMO, trading is actually interesting with the new tools. Wings missions are a step the right direction, not perfect though.

I think the only thing I don't like in 3.0 is the Tech Broker grind "personal narrative". Apart from that 3.0 for me was a major improvement compared to what we had before.

YES! Exactly!

I have to be honest, I meant SLF's, not wings. My mind was thinking one thing and typing another, my bad. I've used wings a lot while out on exploration expeditions.

Yep, always felt Multi-pew.....sorry Multi-crew.....was brought in way too soon. That said, it did give me a chance to view worlds many hundreds of light years from where I currently was....so it wasn't a total loss ;).

Have you tried one yourself?
Link me to a video where a Cutter holds its own vs any medium ship with a competent player.

Assuming both parties are experienced PvP-ers, no medium can beat any of Big 3 1v1, due to a combination of sheer hp, FA-off, reverski and (highly relevant) the SLF. Amongst those of us who've been doing this thing for a long time, it's not considered a challenge worth attempting. I am undefeated v mediums, 1v1, me in any of Big 3. So are loads of others, it's just the ship disparity. The SLF put the seal on it and more than off-sets TLB.

Assuming competence all round, Big 3 ships are equal to about 1.5 mediums: they win against 1 medium, lose against 2.

Anyway, here's the link you requested, o7:

Solo players can multicrew by inviting thier friends into thier private group. No players can enter a private group without an invite otherwise it's the same as Open,

The squadrons seem to me the first step to owning my own base (planetary or orbital). It would be nice to manage an aircraft carrier, controlling such aspects as resource extraction, player ship transactions and npc through docks, the production of resource goods (including unique ones), the creation of full-fledged outposts away from the inhabited sector. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think at the moment the game has everything you need for this. A nice bonus would be the "legs".

We badly need those NPC crew, hope to find them in Squadrons. About time.

Absolutely!
It's about time NPCs fill the gaps where Players aren't available 24/7 (or aren't trusted or don't fit the Playstyle).

After all, NPCs never suffer from Instancing issues and are on call 24/7, 365 days a year. And up for every Task, no matter how mundane, exciting or boring.
(and heck, we pay them anyway all the time, right ? :D )

I choose to play exclusively in solo and prefer not to have "friends" while playing ED: imo lag and rubberbanding sucks. Besides, NPCs come with less toxicity than humans. ;)

Heres hoping squadrons can also include powerplay changes so that the two compliment each other and work together rather than being seperate mechanics.

'You may also see other topics pop up in addition to those listed below, we will keep you up to date when or if we’re adding any more discussion topics'

:) Powerplay may be involved in that discussion. We just have to make sure we've got something that's worth your time.
