Anyone else thinking of asking for a refund?

The crux of whole argument from both sides is just here : FD made a mistake by allowing to change galactic power statement from pg/solo. Everyone's who disagreed (at least me and my closest buddies) just ignored the PP. Significant amount of people, who were cool with it and seen this as an advantage in complete safety, got used to it and now people got mad because frontier want to turn the entire design upside down, taking their advantage off them.

Fair enough, mate. Keep in mind though that whether rightly or wrongly this is judging the worth and value of others as apposed to that of the worth of the effort you and yours have put in the way that you presumably have. The dichotomy of the other is, in essence, the crux of the difference of opinion here. Different people approach the game in different ways that the game allows for, so try not to blame them entirely for the platform that is already there.

The solution, as best as it can be, is a solution for both, not one or the other, and I think there are in fact ways in which this can be resolved to meet both ends in a fair and balanced way. It won't be easy, but I never wanted easy anyway. You all suck, remember? ;)

So it wasn't mistake, just they went different route than you wanted.

There's more in PP design than meeting players face to face. I am baffled how people still not getting it. It is not EvE corps.

False. The points are mutually exclusive : pro-opens want to get rid of phantoms taking a dumps on their beds, and to achieve more community-invented activities as a very significant bonus. Pro-solo just want keep their ability to do their stuff in phantom mode. Both are mutually exclusive and there simply no solution for both sides - someone's gonna get everything, someone's get a bone.

It wasn't a mistake to use rotten meat to make you a barbeque - I just went a different route.

Solo and group will be fine, this is just a proposed tweak to one game element that everyone has spent years moaning about.

Changing it to open only is similar to the C&P changes it's a reaction to player behavior, in this case solo grinding.

Shame. Then you're entrenched in your position, so there's not much point in having a meaningful conversation here.

Well, I hope for the best for the game. Other players' positions on things, sorry to say, but I don't care as much about.

We'll see how it works out.

Cheers.

I thought the Engineers was as low as it was possible to go in bad game design, but here FD is thinking about changing the basic nature of the game after we bought it.
Not that i really care whether pp is open only or not, but just on the principle that FD shouldnt be rewarded for changing the basic nature of the product from what was advertised and sold, I am thiniking about asking for a refund. This sets a precedent i dont want to see play out.
A vendor removing basic features from a product after its sold and the money is in the vendors pocket seems unethical, maybe fradulent, and possibly illegal.

Poor guy. The breakfast in front of me cost more than this game. Some people ... Unbelievable.

Using logic instead of giving "argument from a morale" is entrenching. Okay.

Of course, that's how you may see it, and I can not give you my eyes. Would it be worth it anyway? At least we're here giving our perspectives for what they're worth.

No worries. :)

I'm sure that some will ask for a refund and have never played Powerplay

Maybe. Not many, I would presume. Some though, I mean, they may have a particular eccentricity, and who am I to say something... to the contrary?

No, they won't, because Powerplay will not be made Open exclusive content.

Going out on a limb here, but you know I'm right. :)

Nah not really. I'm quite happy with the changes and people are just overreacting too much about it. But I wish you good luck on your journey.

Nope.

I am now a huge critic of the direction & decisions taken since 2.1 - up until & including 2.0, I was loving it & really looking forward to future development - but I've more than had my money's over 3.5 yrs, even though I don't get much time to play.

The gaming industry seems to be the only one where incompetence isn't a short-term issue. Medium & Long-term it is, obviously; for example, I'll never buy another product from Frontier...& I'm not the boycotting type at all ie only the newspaper 'The Sun' & its parent, 'News UK' fall into that category (any football fans will know why).

Frontier are possibly the most arrogant, uncommunicative company I've ever had dealings with - it's probably just the industry culture, though - & I really don't feel like a valued customer, I feel like they think they're doing me a favour by allowing me to play their game. Take my only request/query to 'Support' (despite many game issues impacting me severely over the years); I opened a ticket, but fortunately the problem - a bug, where I couldn't get past the detention centre rebuy screen - resolved itself the next time I logged in, a few days later. Ergo, I summarily informed Support that they could disregard the ticket, out of politeness, to avoid wasting their valuable time...only to find they had already closed it for "inactivity" after TWO days, with no other attempted communication. Oh okay then, thanks...remind me never to bother with that again!

However, as implied, I'll simply put all of this down to experience, since Elite is such a minor part of my recreation time as to be a negligible issue. In fact, not many players will have a legal leg to stand on, with any kind of recourse...but good luck, OP! [big grin]

I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess.

Thanks for the info, personally I haven't eaten myself yet, just came back from a run. However I do hope we have frequent updates from you in the future, maybe even vlogs? The future sure is bright :)

No players have a legal leg to stand on. It's all mouth and no trousers. If anyone really pays for a lawyer to get £20-£50 pounds back after using a product for a year and several hundred hours or more, they're a fool.

Yes they do...it's called the 'cooling off' period.
