Why should all fights be balanced and equal?

I might as well post a whinge thread bemoaning that my Fer de Lance can't haul as well as a T-9.

Your Asking the Wrong Question.
Its not *Why Should sll Fights be Fair*
Its *Why would anyone participate if he cant win anyways*
This is a Game.
People dont have Fun = People dont Play.
Being Massacred by someone who you got no Chance against is not Fun.
Hence. PP will be limited to the Endgame PvP Players that got Fully Engineered Combat Ships.
Everyone else cant really compete and tvus will be excluded.
Take a guess how many people this are. And you realize that in effect PP will be completely Dead.

Games require everyone to have a fair chance of winning.

No one, not even you, likes playing a rigged game where you're always going to lose.

How about you being forced into a hauling challenge in your FDL Vs that Type 9?
You'd soon walk away, as you know you could never win.

No it's hilarious IN context.

It's not as funny as the oxymoron of "griefing" by killing PP rivals.
That takes the cake.
Sorry, you come in second place.

*cue sad trombone*

It is funny in context, because you think Frontier can force me to play with you.

I suppose you think the Earth if flat as well. Because there is more chance of that being true than Co-op players being forced into being your in game content.

You can escape and evade. I’ve done most of the current combat CG from a shieldless Keelback and have only lost it once. There are different forms of counting victories and different goals and counter goals available. If I’m in my T7 I have a sharp eye on sensors at all times and I work as well on my ability to fight of interdictions (should worse come to worst). The fact IS, it does have an odd sort of balance but they require drastically different skill sets and strategies. That’s just good gameplay. As to forcing people into open, I would hate that. Don’t want to be there? Don’t be there. That’s fair enough. Some content is designed for player confrontations though, like powerplay. That should be open only as the main purpose of pp is competition and if group or solo can enter into it that kills the whole purpose of direct opposition.
If it were up to me, and it is decidedly not, I would have given each player two accounts with one for open and another for solo. The two would not ever mingle aside from player group and even then, each player group would have to be tied to one (open or solo).

My word man, you need to move on from this self-imposed "I can't because it's rigged" attitude.

And that fair chance you're talking about? Every ship in the game has a frameshift drive. A hauler "wins" against a hostile combat vessel by high-waking and escaping, especially when the pilot in question is carrying valuable powerplay cargo.

The combat ship has a fair chance of destroying the hauler.

The hauler has a fair chance of escaping the combat ship.

We call this competition. MMO games have been known to feature it.

Sure.
By that Standard the 3 Year old has a Fair Chance to beat the crab out of Klitchko.

What Competition lol.
I got a Fully Engineered Anaconda with FSD Interrupt Missiles.
He got an Not Engineered Hauler.

Aside from me being able to kill him Faster than his FSD will charge up.
If I feel unsafe of getting him in time I.ll shoot FSD Interrupt at him and he aint FSDing anywhere.
For your info Shooting Claybirds is only a Competition when you got two People Shooting Clay Birds to see who hits more.
When its 1 Guy Shooting and the other Guy being the Clay Bird. There is no Competition.

Seriously guys.
Stop trying to delude yourself.
Nobody is going to play Claybird for you.
Only thing this pitiful attempt of forcing players into open will do.
Is to kill PP for Good as vast majority of the PP Players will Quit PP for good.

Do you intentionally write your replies to resemble song lyrics?

I've yet not heard a compelling reason to make PP open only especially considering you coment that open isn't that dangerous if you know what you do, in my case, I didn't mess around too much in CGs and travelled in my tank-Python so I never feared anything, as a matter of fact, I've been pledging Aisling for the last year and surprise surprise, nothing changed.

Yep, PP undermining is also a competition (which can be made in solo).

Can be- but shouldn't, in the opinions of the majority of the PP communities and Sandro himself. Open-only PP is long overdue.

Lol yes.
Because these *PP Communities* dont actually want a Competition.
They want to Spread their Power and thus want to remove as much Random Players from PP as possible.
They want PP to be a sort of Clanwar Platform.
To them the vast Majority of Players leaving PP is a Positive Event.

I got a Minor Faction myself.
So I know how annoying it is to level out against the guys running there.
So of course the PP Communities will be more than happy to remove as many Other Players from PP as possible.
Because it means they dont need to deal with Random Players undermining their Systems.

Way to miss the point there, champ. Good luck with that. Thankfully the bulk of those actually involved agree that a pvp feature should be relegated to the only mode where direct pvp is possible.

And there comes the usual thing again.
If you cant make any valid points on topic. Try to shift the discussion to your opponents person.
Pitiful...

Almost as pitiful as ignoring the other person's numerous on-topic replies and wailing about perceived personal attacks. But I, too, am something of a scribbler.

There once was a player named Carebear
for whom open was a great big scare
and so he got gud
at the things that he should
And now of solo he is unaware

Spare me your life story pls.
Either stay on topic or get out.
As easy as that.

Yes, they do. They thrive on it. They just want a fair competition, which is why it's a matter of honor in every single community that PP activities be carried out in open.

They want to Spread their Power and thus want to remove as much Random Players from PP as possible.

Randos who don't know what they're doing are the bane of those who actually play PP and know what they're doing.

Aside from the fact that you're claiming to be a mind reader on behalf of many, many strangers- no. The only players that the communities want gone are those who engage in 5C activities, play in solo and PG, and those who are just module shopping. My claim as to these attitudes is informed by having spent two years playing powerplay and actually being a part of the PP community- and a quick glance at Reddit, Facebook, and the Forums will confirm these views.

1.
So.
When they can go around and massacre Players with a Gank Squad thats Fair Competition.
When they need to Deliver things or kill NPCs faster than the others its not a fair competition.
Loool.
Listen to yourself there.
Your basicly saying that to them its only a fair Competition when they get to be the Shooter and the otvers are Claybirds.
And that its not Fair if both are Shooters.
2.
In short you admit that this will exclude the vast majority of players from PP and also admit that this in fact what you want.
Nice we talked about it.
3.
So basicly you want to get rid of the 90% of Players that aint interested in playing Clay Birds for your Ganking Squads.
Nice your showing your true colors.
4.

Factually wrong, PvP can and has been seen on many Private Groups.

1. Yes, PvP is an intended part of Powerplay. Sometimes this PvP is between disparate numbers of CMDRs. All part of the deal.

2. This will exclude the players that shouldn't be playing PP to begin with, by the standards of Frontier's intent and of the communities themselves. Not at all a loss.

3. Hauling merits is a part of PP, yes- as is the risk of being attacked by players from other powers and the need to protect them in a collaborative manner. I'm sorry that you've reduced this exciting dynamic to clay birds. It sounds like Powerplay isn't for you.

4. Then truly you possess the view of someone who has never actually engaged in powerplay or attempted to understand the position of its communities.
