Modes No longer playing open

Is it because O (open) is before P (Private) and S (solo) in the alphabet ????

I'm not convinced about that. How do you explain the other menus?
They seem to have a priority order in place. "Training" comes before "Start", for example. It makes sense after all - train before actually committing to gameplay. Likewise, "Graphics" before "Audio" - again seems to make sense that visual comes before audio as I can't imagine anybody being able to play if they were blind. I can imagine you could play if you were deaf though.

So what you're saying is even the alphabet is telling us Open is the superior mode.

There is no "superior mode"

From the initial inception of the game we have considered all play modes are equally valid choices. While we are aware that some players disagree, this hasn't changed for us.

Michael

Only modes with people some of us don't want to waste our time with.

My previous comment still stands; the more Frontier ignores this place (with it's endless intolerance, infinite capacity for personal-slight and limitless recalcitrance) and embraces the input from the broader community, whom have a far less extreme viewpoint due to simply strength of number moderating general views, the better the game will get. Long may that continue.

I actually do agree but the elephant in the room hasn't left, where is the broad community and how do you communicate with it?

There is no "superior mode"

Of course there is a "superior mode" - it's completely subjective though.
My point is in relation to 'open' being the first/top option in the modes. It was said, by two posters, that this was nothing more than alphabetical sequencing and I pointed out that this does not happen in the other menus. That's a fact and it can be checked by looking at the menu's.
If 'solo' was the 1st/top option, do you think it would be indicative of a mode preference? Do you think advocates of solo would be using it's 1st/top positioning as a validation of it's importance?

It has nothing to do with "mode preference" at all.

Warframe has the same mode system labelled;

Public
Friends
Solo

Star Trek Online has a matchmaking system;

Open Team
Allow Requests
Closed Team

Closed team = Solo, just to be clear.
You can also filter the "Allow Requests" to Friends / Clan only in your privacy settings. So it's their version of PGs by another name.

Shroud of the Avatar also has the same mode system, ordered the same way as far as I am aware.

So as far as I can tell, the order is an "Industry Standard" for MMOs.
It is nothing to do with one option being better than other - because it isn't in any game.

As I said, I was addressing the two other posters who cited alphabetical sequencing as the reason for open on top in ED.
What about my question though?

Only modes with people some of us don't want to waste our time with.

LOL
Interesting idea, but it seems the people saying that spend a LOT of time with those same people right here, like you're doing right now...
That is the common theme in all of these threads, yet here you are posting and interacting with some of those same people.

Seems more like you want to spend LOTS of time with them, but you just don't want to play elite with them?
Ftr, it's easier to ignore people in open...

:D

No idea what people would say if they were ordered differently.
Even if they were the other way (Solo first) then only Frontier could say why they didn't follow what appears to be the "standard" template.

But if Frontier didn't say in that situation, I'd guess someone would try the same argument.

Hmm, must be hard for you not being able to seperate the forums from the game.
As here you have Mods to contend with, so you can only get away with a certain amount.

No such restrictions in game. So I'd rather deal with you here.

Fair enough.
Interesting observation by Bob Lighthouse - made me chuckle! [up]

No, I am responding directly to what you wrote.
You should try it some time!

people some of us don't want to waste our time with.

That's exactly what you do on the forums every day, waste time with those people.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Such is the level of your narcissism.

So you're ignoring the context of the post, gotcha.

As it mentioned "modes" first, clearly I was talking in game, but carry showing why I'm not wasting my time in game with you.

Dont bother.
To him anything but his own opinion is just a bias and since he cant give any arguments for his case he will just post personal attacks and mockery.

As for the Topic.
Guys this entire discussion is meaningless.

Players Play what they want and how they want.
Try to force em into playing different or to play something they dont want to play. And they will simply stop playing entirely and play a different game.
We had that with Engineers. When they distributed upgrade materials so you had to do planetary and mining etc due to certain materials not dropping anywhere else.
And it Failed.
We had that with Community Goals which was Open Only.
And it Failed.
We have it all the time with them trying to force people into doing USS.
Guess what. Failed...
We got it right now with the Thargoids where they want to force us into USS and Group Fights.
And what is it ?
Yep Failed. Most players just Ignore Thargoids entirely....

If they want to use PP to force Players into Open the Result will be the same.
Vast Majority will simply start to entirely Ignore PP and let it Die.

I dont get how this is hard to understand.
Players aint Workers. They have absolutely NO REASON to do something they dont like.
They dont want to play Open so they wont.
As easy as that.

No it's hilarious IN context.

It's not as funny as the oxymoron of "griefing" by killing PP rivals.
That takes the cake.
Sorry, you come in second place.

*cue sad trombone*

Yes. Me for example. I don't like shooting other CMDRs without reason, but now there is a reason given to me.
So when I have decided to which faction I will pledge, I will gladly try to destroy all enemy CMDRs.
That's neither ganking nor griefing though.

So a Triple Elite that likely has an Fully Engineered Combat Equipped Anaconda will go around killing guys who just bought their first Cobra and might not even have access to engineers ?

Great.
Sounds like an absolutely fair Fight.
Will be about the same odds as Vladimir Klitchko against a 3 Year Old Kid.
But surely not Griefing.

You do realize that your supporting my point there completely do you??

Why should all fights be balanced and equal?

I might as well post a whinge thread bemoaning that my Fer de Lance can't haul as well as a T-9.
