Steam's 1000 most-played games, Elite Dangerous is not in it due to a lack of Achievements

I showed you already, but you like to ignore those things.

You already did and I've restrained myself up till now.
As I mentioned, your professionally delicate feelings do not constitute an insult or trolling.

I'd love to see what you're going to do when you stop restraining yourself. Will you write a really strongly-worded letter to your local parliamentary representative? Might you perhaps instead opt to start a peaceful protest outside the appropriate embassy?

Or perhaps you're going to go on a kale-fueled rampage through your local supermarket. That'll show me.

There's a list of the 1000 most-played games on Steam with total unique players as of July 1, 2018. Elite Dangerous isn't in it. I think 1. because ED is a niche-game 2. ED lacks EVA gameplay.

The quality of life improvements and new features of ED: Beyond are great and helps to make it more appealing for the long-term future. What would really make ED appealing to a mainstream gamer audience is by adding EVA and FPS gameplay. Because games like Grand Theft Auto and Mass Effect have proven to be much more popular than a simulator where you're stuck in a pilot seat.

I never play Elite via Steam either.

Update: ED is not listed, because it only ranks games with achievements. The thread can be closed if needed.

Elite was in the bronze section of steams best seller list 2017. I know that might sound like it didnt do particularly well but as others have said its over 3 years old and is still ranked up there in that section with games that released last year. Those lists are at least solid indicators from valves own figures. Not exact but at least can tell its still selling reasonably well.

I wonder how much of that is down to VR adoption becoming more widespread. Elite is considered the premium VR actual game by a lot of people.

Obviously no direct from frontier figures on PC or console sales there either. Which should only make the picture brighter.

Also the fact Frontier is nearly taking a whole year out from adding paid content bar the store suggests they may have some wiggle room and the game is doing well enough that they can use this year to firm up their ideas and develop more paid content for down the road.

The more thd beyond chapter goes on the more i think a part of the team is working on stuff we wont get till we get a paid expansion.

Meanwhile - in steam's top sellers we have JWE platinum and PC / ED both Bronze: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/2018_so_far_top_sellers/

FD dead etc etc

I guess Cosmo hangs around here because the SC / NMS forums are dead, whereas everyone is still here :D

I've been supporting ED on these forums since 06/01/2013. There's been a decline of the player base. Beyond has not yet delivered amazing new features like when Horizons was first released. Maybe the Q4 update will bring lots of players back due to the Squadrons, Fleet Carriers and updated graphics.

As I mentioned, your professionally delicate feelings do not constitute an insult or trolling.

You're trying to shift the blame of your negative comments by saying my feelings are "professionally delicate". Again your comment has negativity and back-handed insults.

meh fleetcarriers...
Not a feature a I will ever use. Just like multiplayer multicrew or multiplayer wings.

I am much more interested in better exploration and mining mechanics.

You appear to have missed (or ignored) David Braben saying that Elite's just had it's best year so far.

I saw that comment and it's interesting. Would like to see some statistics or something that proves it to be the case. Is there an upswing in active players, positive reviews or more people who purchase the game?

"I want official stats because I don't believe official statements"

"I want official stats because I don't believe official statements"

You know when someone says "this is the best car ever made" . A smart consumer would do some research or request what he or she uses as a basis for that statement.

Yeah, was thinking about that too. This is really something isn't it?
All the proof in the world still wouldn't be enough

Some proof is better than nothing. :p

Nope. You got owned really hard and are compensating.

Nope you like to post negativity and insult people.

You consider someone who comments on a thread to point something out is called "owning someone" which is negative behaviour on your part. A positive person would consider correcting someone to be a constructive contribution to a discussion in a thread.

"Sure, the official data says that, but how can we trust how it was collected? I demand a government-mandated audit!"

What in the world is EVA gameplay?

EVA means Extravehicular Activity. Such as getting out of a vehicle and do activities on foot.

"Sure, the official data says that, but how can we trust how it was collected? I demand a government-mandated audit!"

No official data means we don't know what the claim is based on. So we cannot yet go to the next step which is to check if it is reliable data.
