BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

Firstly, there are a bunch of permit locked sectors all over the galaxy, that are locked by fdev as reserved space, so it's not lore based as the reason but practical.
Yes. Now think about why these particular sectors might be reserved based on what we've already seen. I'm sure it's all just a coincidence.

Two, there is a mix of AX, MINING, EXPLORATION on the gnosis because the thought was the AX cmdrs would look for and hunt hydras, while explorers and miners did their own thing

So no it isn't just an AX only fleet at all. The description never mentioned thargoid homeworld or that this was some first strike, or that this was any kind of military campaign. At all.
I didn't say it was an AX-only fleet, just that the Gnosis had an AX fleet on board. Sure, there are lots of non-combat ships ready to take over and exploit the sector once the AX ships have killed the natives.

And sure, the original *player-written* description of the thing was just exploration. If the players didn't know about the Thargoids, they could hardly advertise them in advance. That doesn't mean that the Thargoids weren't - as now seems obvious - the reason those sectors were cut off.

Again this was phrased as some kind d of exploration mission.

Unless you think there is a military reason that the gnosis next stop was the formadine rift?
Obviously the Canonn people plotting the route were originally planning an exploration trip, because they hadn't figured out why it was blocked out in the first place.

That doesn't mean the Thargoids have to cooperate with that - the Galnet article a week ago was a pretty big hint that they weren't going to!

Behold, my new Gnosis/Human hybrid fighter, powered by pure forum outrage!

Hi there folks,

We should have an update on the Gnosis soon.

In the meantime, we'd like to thank you for the reports regarding being destroyed before launch, fire zone transgressions (and Thargoid proximity) and Solo/Open players being mixed together. The team are presently investigating and we hope to have more information for you soon.

You're welcome (on behalf of the players playtesting your content for you in the production environment).

This whole “attack” has the stink of “done-on-the-fly” about it. Especially the persistent NHSSs with no threat labels. My guess is they’re just setting this up as they go to try to save face after the community backlash.

I have come to the conclusion that FD are trolling us, With their announcement last week and now this epic fail what else can it be. I bet they are rolling on the floor with laughter at us. Well i for one have now had enough. No more will i fall for their crap. I will wait till tomorrow to see if they make any kind of announcement over this and then make my decision on if i continue to play this game or not. I am so annoyed with them at the moment

THis is not FDev problem, this is YOUR* problem 1) Do not engage within no - fire zone., This is the purpose of no-fire zone.2) Optionally report Tahrgoid breach of no-fire zone rulings to Gnosis commanders3) If fighter incurs fines, do not deploy fighters4) Solution alredy provided by time-paradox Galnet article some hours before the situation ensued - Use Meta Alloys to lure away Thargoids.5) Bear in mind, Gnosis is science resarch vessel, not intended combat dreadnought.*(Or other pilot attempting to place round peg in square hole)
You're right, it's not a combat vessel, but it's preventing the AX pilots from doing their job. However, no reasonable person onboard the Gnosis would hand out fines to Commanders, and would be training the guns it does have on the Thargoids.

You're looking at game mechanics and not the actual picture.

EDIT: In fact, Will says that the Dev team are looking at the fines and Thargoid proximity to the Gnosis, so you're just plain close minded.

Where is my beta tester paycheck, Frontier???

I am salty... I wish I wasn't, but yeah. I very disappointed. I was surprised to see the story line about a station making a long jump and not making it to it's destination. I've never seen that story line before. Are the stations made out of disposed soda containers?

Well that was a waste of time I seriously thought we were going to get some good exploration going and new discoveries ...so I come equipped with my exploration ship not a battleship //and this happens .
come on really ..the first time I have ever got involved with what I thought was a real time story driven bit of fun ..and we get this ...plus the fact that if you engage you can be sent 1600ly away for attempting to protect the Gnosis ..Dont FDEV have a script that turns features on and off ..wouldnt it make sense for any story driven episode to have a live person online with ability to deal with such stupidities.
well I am sorely disappointed after the long wait and this Happens . Has no one at FDEV ever had a thought for real time driven stories ..this is a weak uncreative use of a potentially exciting change within the Elite environment
well I spose I might as well go the shops and get a loaf and a pint of milk ..hopefullly there wont be any aliens prowling around the entrance to Tesco .

I'm glad we could help in your tireless quest to eradicate bugs.

It's why we're here, after all.

WARNING

Do not die while having fines for firing in the no-fire zone of the Gnosis. If you die while protecting the ship from Thargoids, you'll get send 1178LY away to the California Sector Detention Facility.

I just found this out the hard way.

In the words of the book ....

JESUS SAVES

We thank you for your sacrifice, and pray(geddit) that FD will put a tourist beacon here in your memory.

Fly safe and DON'T READ THE GAL NET NEWS BEFORE 6AM!

All Thargoids waked out from Gnosis location. That was quick...
Search and rescue NPCs from Canonn Gnosis Division arriving.

PARTY IS OVER.
