What because a few Commanders didn't check the NFZ .. permanently enabled across every station in the Galaxy .. hadn't been actively switched off before opening fire and got nailed? If you were fined disabled over a pad that's unlucky and I'm totally sympathetic but if you're trigger happy then situational awareness is still a thing.

No, because this was an amazing opportunity to give us some cool narrative driven content. But they killed the suspense and spoiled the story.

And then when the ship was attacked, which we already knew was going to happen - all the bugs... I mean in the context of this story - the NFZ makes no sense completely. Gnosis shooting players' flaks also makes no sense whatsoever. And if you make a mistake and do fire in the NFZ, then you're being teleported 1200 LY away when you die...

It's the way they implemented this, seemingly without testing it internally first.

No mate, this is a total failure in my eyes. It's not defendable on any front.

Close Shave

Not quite instadeath as some people have described I undocked in my Diamondback explorer with feeble shields and a mining later and just managed to jump before being hit with a thargoid missile so I'm safe but unfortunately in the ship I'm in I can't do anything to help the fight.

I'd also like to point out that many xbox and playstation players couldn't participate in this event due to issues with the login servers.

Bugs and quirks notwithstanding, this turn of events is infinitely better than what was to be expected from the "leaked" GalNet article.
An actual active event.
A real threat.
Player agency.

I am reconciled :)
(For whatever this is worth.)

By the way - are we actually sure that 'Canonn' wasn't involved in the planning of this outcome?
The whole thing is quite cleverly set up: bring thousands of players together (= create a "hot spot") and then throw them into (shared) action.

The missing outfitting possibility (for all these explorer builts without shields and weapons) and the reported issues are unfortunate, of course (I am not there to confirm them).
But they do not devaluate the idea itself and will hopefully be fixed soon.

You complain about the spoikler, but then proceeded to ignore the prominent point that was hinted within the spoiler as to how to deal with the primiximty of the aliens to the ship. Instead willfully discharging weapons if the zone and then complaining that the crime is punished as per the rules???

No fire zone is meant to stop griefers, which if we remember there are bunch of them out there with other people.

So how then stop them hm? Without 'fire zone'?

Very easily. Firing in the no fire zone is not "griefing". Killing you is. And that's a bounty, not a fine. You shouldn't be teleported to a detention center just because of a stupid fine if you are not wanted.

Yes, we're sure, a canonn councilor issued a apology and statement several pages back.

He is especially angry at the fact that fdev sabotaged what was supposed to be a exploration focused event.

Gnosis was packed to the gills with ships and people were already calling it a TARDIS.

Makes me wonder - a bit - why Commanders think it should have a never ending supply of replacement ships, should you get killed, in the NFZ ..

So, you were 'rescued' to the California Nebula huh?

Hi there folks,

We should have an update on the Gnosis soon.

In the meantime, we'd like to thank you for the reports regarding being destroyed before launch, fire zone transgressions (and Thargoid proximity) and Solo/Open players being mixed together. The team are presently investigating and we hope to have more information for you soon.

AN UPDATE? Here's an update, you crushed players hopes, dreams of new possible content because yall are just milking us for money and time and giving us disappointment. This is the damn Salome and Jacques events all over again. And people are being destroyed and sent back to the bubble for defending the very ship you people intentionally threw off course and sending them back to the bubble making them not even want to play or fly back out again (many in COMBAT SHIPS aka low jump ranges).

So, what happened? Did the S&R drive away the thargoids? Did they pacify them? How? With tons meta alloys? WHy would they be carrying tons of meta alloys? Or do they have Guardian weapons? Did they have to farm Obelisks to unlock them too?

I'm confused...

FDEV YOU HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS AT THE GNOSIS!

1. The no fire zone exists. You incur fines, your fighter incurs fines for you, and if you die, you get sent to the slammer.
2. The Thargoids are sitting inside the no fire zone and do not want to budge. I flew within 2KM of one and it would not budge.
3. The Gnosis actively shoots down remote flak.
4. The Gnosis does not actively engage targets, however it will instagib the Regenerator scouts that fire off their healing pulse.

Just proving again if needed they don t play their own game and don t give a damn about it.

Will by design or accident - this is game play people are crying out for. Do it again (just need the fire zone thing sorted) !

I'm heading back to the Pleiades. Before the event. Because I know what happens. Thanks FD. Thanks for the immersion. Unimpressed.

LOL, what - no smoke blowing today?!:O

In other news - Mansearch (& I use the term in its loosest possible sense) underway for Stigbob & Eagleboy; 'last seen uttering smug platitudes & tugging their forelocks furiously shortly before bursting into tears & running off into the woods, screaming "Why do you forsake us, Lord David...whyyyyyyyy?".

Local police have issued the following statement: "Good riddance!!...*cough* errr...we mean, we are very concerned for the safety of these two irritating twa...*cough* errr...individuals!"

NB: Mickey-taking is good for the soul; I'm fortunate, in that I can take some ribbing & then return it (tenfold)...what do you think, 'North Korean Frontier Forums'? [big grin]
