BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

Yes let's just run everyone out of ships so they cant play at all because this is a good way to build engagement.

Not really. You can play .. but Gnosis is in a remote region of space. If you get destroyed .. consequence.

Stop nerf herding maybe. (my opinion)

If you like it so much like it is you should email fdev cause they are considering it an issue and are working on it to solve it.

I know.

It isn't.However dischargin weapons in the zone IS a crime, and an exceedingly well known one that has been in the game for a while. Why people are suddenly feigning ignorance is beyond me.

It doesn't make sense in the context of this event whatsoever.

Neither does Gnosis shooting out flaks.

Neither does Gnosis not shooting at Thargoids.

The people defending this are incredibly fake - so fake it hurts. Down to the fact that people are actually blaming players for USING COMMON SENSE and destroying the enemies attacking the ship wherever they are and not just sitting outside the NFZ twiddling thier thumbs while the Goids inside it destroy people trying to take off and land! FDev has already admitted IN THIS THREAD that they did not actually think before they acted with this... and the Thargoids being in the same instance as the station might itself be a bug...

Just.... Any other execution, would have been okay. Any other. Even if we didn't end up in the Cone... This is as low-effort as it gets. Not even new art to show the Gnosis was damaged. They had time. This expedition was planned for months. They could have just said no...

I don't want to sound mean, and I thing it is shabby how the Galnet article was released a tad too early, but everyone was somehow expecting the Gnosis to arrive at the Conehead Sector without a hitch or their Megaship getting Hyperdicted.

Canonn Research proclaim they are all for the science.

They know everything there is to know about the aliens.

They also know that no player can enter a locked area of space.

Admiral Aden Tanner (Aegis’s chief military liaison) warned us about the Hydra living in the Cone Sector.

The Pilot's Federation took Admiral Aden Tanner's warning seriously, and locked access to that Sector.

Canonn Research had a full week - knowing it was highly likely that, based on their scientific findings and other Thargoid evidence, they could get Hyperdicted en-route (failing to reach their destination entirely) - to contact whoever they needed to and cancel their flight plan.

They didn't.

They assumed (either through excessive arrogance or hubris) that they would reach their destination in the Conehead Sector, and, at the very most, have their ship disabled after they reached their destination in a permit locked region.

And all despite knowing what the aliens are fully capable of - easily able to tear ships out of Witch-space, including Megaships, to attack and disable them.

Frontier isn't to blame.

The Lore is there. The in-game scientific knowhow is there. This is something that Canonn preach - they ignored their own science, evidence, and all the warnings.

Canonn Research made the ultimate decision to do this - the buck stops with them.

I have to agree that keeping defenders confined within the NFZ then fining and punishing them for doing their job is insane, but that's digital justice for you. It is also called entrapment and is illegal in some places.
Nobody is keeping the defnders confined within te NFZThere is a perfectly viable alternative that was provided by Galnet even in advance of the event.

Correct. In short it went like this:CANNON: We've done lotsFD: Geat, as a reward, have a megashipCANNON:YAY!..but.. can we move aroundFD: Fiiiine.... how does (not actually stopping to think) 500 ly sound?CANNON: Great!CANNON:muahahaha now we can circumvent permit locks screw you!FD: Uhh that's kinda exploity - but okay... if you're sure, we'll go with thatNEWS: ton of nasties in ConeCANNON: Dont care, going anyway!FD: sigh.__Not excusing FDev, ultimaterly, this was their error to begin with and their mishandliong, but Cannon are partly responsible for pushing FDev into this.Overall, the important concern is that it was very badly dealt with and that DFDEV need to learn h9ow to approach these things.

This isnt on Canonn. They just submitted a place to jump in good faith. Frontier never could say no. If people have fun, then great, however have set some astronomically bad presidents for how the event has been handled.

If they had been only doing this for a year or so? No problem. It's been five years, and it's still firmly amatuer hour at FDev.

What are you talking about?

I mean why go through the effort to apologize for something if they weren't truly responsible for it.

The salty thing to do would be to put it 100% on fdevs feet but no they took some partial if tangential responsibility for it. That gets my respect and my condolences.

My dude. Canonn apparently had little to no idea. They just submitted the request. Frontier control the ship itself and where it goes.

Throwing a player group under the bus to defend the developer is pretty special. Please don't be that guy.

The bitterness and drivel spouted here is beyond ludicrous. Canonn have NO SWAY over anything. Seriously, this idea that they're all-powerful and rule the game is just bourne out of spite and jealousy. Just get over the fact Megaships are nothing more than a tools used to drive stories. Canonn doesn't get 'special treatment' - the entity that has grown out from a few people is so large now that it is just part of Elite lore.

This is entirely on FDev. Canonn didn't even KNOW this was planned. And no amount of bitter vitriol is going to change that simple fact.

President Halsey comes to mind.... :D

They could have contacted someone. Frontier gave them an oppurtunity to do so (a week) and it was easily within their power at Frontier to alter a flight plan - I'm sure they would have obliged but, as always, gave the player group a choice: link

How could Canonn have had no idea?

From their discord - the Canonn Council said they were going to jump anyway despite being contacted (I assume by Frontier):

Yeah but with all on-line meltdowns, it doesn't matter how good your point of view is, people never, NEVER change their minds - its just a constant stream of opinions. I took part, bagged quite a few scouts and died twice. That's enough for me.

As I said in another thread, getting positive acknowledgement out of FD is like drawing blood from stone sometimes.
