BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

The problem, which you're missing, is canonn nor the player base was made aware we were jumping into the lair of king badmofo until literally hours before.
There's pretty clear suggestive evidence - dating right back to 2.1 when the permit locks went in and the first barnacle discoveries - that Cone is part of the Thargoid story.

I mean, if it was "some random explorer group" that got into trouble this way having paid no attention to "pew pew stuff like Thargoids", I'd sympathise. If Thargoids show up at waypoint 18 of DWE II on the other side of Sag A* ... sure, no possible way anyone could have seen that coming and I'll be up there saying "what were you thinking?" to Frontier too.

But I somehow find it hard to believe that the game's premier alien research group - famed for its ability to crack extremely tough puzzles in hours or days, and specialising in Thargoid research - collectively didn't notice any of the hints before organising the jump. What did you think a sector surrounded by Thargoid-related permit locks was going to contain?

(I mean, sure, when I heard the jump was signed off by Frontier I figured that it had all been another giant red herring and Cone didn't have anything to do with the Thargoids after all ... a retraction I retracted when last week's Galnet article came out. But did no-one really think "maybe there are Thargoids there" before suggesting it as a destination?)

Bugs aside, complaining about getting on board a ship when bad things could happen and there's no knowledge of what the deal is, is just hilarious. That's the whole point of the journey. .

I don't think there were any bugs - apart from the big green Thargoidy ones.

There was no message on Gnosis saying "we're under attack, the NFZ is off go kill them". Some Cmdr's launched, didn't check, paid the price and got rescued off the ship. Game.

One thing confuses me because there are two undercurrents of "outrage" here.

Bugs - fair enough, completely understandable.

But there's quite visible "how dare you to push me out of my comfort zone" thing going on too. And I don't think anybody has to blamed about that.

Comfort zone? That's a bit desperate isn't it? Why not just call a spade a mess?

I wouldn't call the current state of affairs concerning not-content and CGs a comfort zone. I think people expected to get pushed out of that, instead they got more of the not-content with a side of bugged thargoids and broken game mechanics.

My dude, theres also an endless undercurrent of explaining at people, at length. Not sure if you are familiar with the term mansplaining but it comes pretty close.

Frontier did what that always do. Have an okay idea they then endlessly fumble toward a finish line that gets moved.

Don´t call this mansplaining. I´m male and I´m almost offended by what Cmdr. Eagleboy is trying pull off here too. The milk is already spilled, there´s nothing to beautify here.

Exactly.

If the Gnosis had made the jump and then anything from nothing to the destruction of the Gnosis had happened I don't think anybody would have had cause to complain.

As it is, what we got was a "prank" from FDev, resulting in the usual hackneyed CGs and repairs.

Big whup.

Of course .. if deep space exploration in known Thargoid territory is too much for you ... ;)

There are some reports that the attack has died down a bit. Go out and check for me would you? o7

But it's not in the middle of nowhere, somewhere that was previously locked or that is surrounded by permit systems. I've just flown back to the Bubble from the Gnosis.

The GNOSIS Tried to jump into the middle of nowhere and was Witchspaced by thargoids, You think the thargoids want you going into the middle of their territory?
Course they dont, is why the GNOSIS is being attacked right now as we speak.

It isn't.However dischargin weapons in the zone IS a crime, and an exceedingly well known one that has been in the game for a while. Why people are suddenly feigning ignorance is beyond me.

It's called "Immersion", please stop trying so hard because it makes your point ridiculous. Yes it was a live beta test. Yes there will be a CG to help The Gnosis which potentially could involve more players around the narrative. No it was apparently not planned months in advance. I get that. I get that explorers might be salty. But this is the closest thing we had to a live event since #rememberSalami. And yes - it was somewhat player driven, too. It was awesome to watch it unfold from a distance, too.

Alot of the folks on the gnosis are explorers, people who likely wouldn't have gone if they knew that upfront, or the fact that the event was to be COMBAT focused.

Frankly, there is zero excuse to not have forseen the potential for combat here.

The Gnosis, which was packed with all kinds of disagreeable sorts, was about to violate interstellar law and jump into a system that had been cordoned off, apparently because of Thargoid activity.

It would have been entirely reasonable for the ship to be attacked by any number of factions, Human and Thargoid, from the moment the intent to jump into the Cone Sector was made public.

But- Thargoids are our friends....they'd never probe our fragile Asps.. would they?

I've had my Asp smacked after probing them, a few times.

My tactic is to sit in my van(Asp) and hand out candy(Meta-Alloys). When the start to grab it, I hit them with the probing limpet.

Needles to say, their mood changes rather quickly. The time window to get the sample and get away is small with a 3C bi-weave. :D

I think the Gnosis bridge crew were probably killed before they could reach the "disable NFZ" lever. Eyes, sucked out of their head probably. And then the alien probe.

Kind of funny in hindsight:
Can't say i'm surprised by how things turned out.

I was not expecting them to fix that in 24 hours, and since Eagle Eye announced Gnosis as a target I disembarked to enjoy the show. :p

I was a dev too, sometimes if boss said "Push the button, no matter what", I obeyed.
And took fire instead of him. He was grateful.
