I liked the exploration mechanics demo, a lot, and look forward to getting a lot of use from the new system. Now wondering just when the snapshot they use when the beta starts would have recorded your position. Hopefully when I was out in the middle of nowhere....

Not sure man. My expectations are clearly higher and I think my expectations are pretty low. The orrery isn't a bad thing to add but it's nothing i would get excited about (it's just a really, really basic map) and tbh it couldn't look any more simplistic. The orbits aren't even remotely accurate. They're all equally spaced circles. I don't get what's so great about it from your perspective. I'll honestly never look at it. It doesn't even look pretty.

I am very much looking forward to the hotfix following shortly after the release of 3.3 so I can start exploring the galaxy like a proper explorer instead of like a very slow game of pin the tail on the donkey.

People weren't even expecting an orrery as we've been told plenty of times it was either not possible or very low priority (not sure which). I also wouldn't take what you saw at face value, that was one system; I'd say rather wait till beta to see how it performs. But, even if you don't get what's great about it, others clearly do (judging by the reactions in the chat) and that should be enough.

I've given up trying to understand why people like something I don't; it only gets me frustrated.

Ok, you won't look at it; that's fine. I don't look at Powerplay and can't figure out why people enjoy it. I don't PvP (except CQC when it was still active in the first 24 hours after it launched, lol); and can't figure out why people enjoy it. There are a lot of things I don't like, and will never use in this game. But, it's a game for people with a lot of different preferences and tastes.

Literally the only thing I read in that summary, that leaves me a bit cold, is that certain "points of interest" are going to become instantly targetable once you've probed the planet. I will continue to push for there to initially be Search Zones, & that the PoI's only become targetable after you have visual confirmation of them.

Oh, & I do wish they hadn't gone with unlimited probes. How do they explain that in lore terms?
