Not to sound ungrateful, but no love for LEP?

How much was lep and what have they gotten out of it so far? I'm a little sympathetic to owners, even though I've probably pumped in a couple hundred bucks after the fact it doesn't seem like lep owners have much more than a brand new player today forking over 20 bucks for elite/horizons humble bundle today.

You must be a teacher with that punish the innocent with the guilty attitude.

Ex Military.

You screw up, your whole group pays the price.
Why? Because you should keep each other in line AND consider how your actions will affect others. Case in point: You like to blare your music. Nobody else in your group minds, but this is a violation of regulations. You’re deployed in a combat zone, and continue to blare your music. The enemy can hear your noise at night and uses it to pinpoint your location and shells your camp, killing most of your group. You survive, but have to live with the knowledge you were responsible for this because you can’t follow regulations.

Had your entire group been punished before this, at least one of them may have had the sense to say: “Turn that down before it gives away our position.”

Bit off-topic, but I don't suppose you recall where this came from because I don't recall such a commitment, just the statement that they were re-prioritising carrier content?

Frontier did not say premium content is coming in 2019.

After the assurance that it was coming in 2018 did not come to pass they were very careful not to commit to 2019.

You're not in a war zone.

It is a forum about a computer game.

The topic is about a company taking a bunch of people's money and not delivering much for it, nothing to do with the army.

I see the thread has acquired some nice tags.

I don’t get involved in these threads often but it always strikes me when people that paid for something in good faith and feel let down or even ripped off over it are mocked by people that didn’t buy it.

It’s often the same people leaping to FDEVs defence but instead of helping them they are actually making matters worse by trolling and winding up those that did.

No doubt the threads would also fizzle out faster. FDEV don’t need you sticking up for them and would be better off with out your help.

Perhaps someone from frontier could tell us when we are getting our store credit as it’s nearly the end of the year and we haven’t had any news for a while? Thanks

Yes to all of this, and the last line neatly sums up my irritation with this topic.

Between £30 and £50 during Kickstarter and early development, depending on backing tier.

£120 if purchased in August 2015, when the LEP was temporarily available for purchase again.

For clarity, LEP rewards so far:
The first LEP reward was beta access to all 1.x updates. Next it was Horizons and beta access to all 2.x updates. We also got 29x Black Friday paintjobs (all that were available at that time), and a Gold Asp Explorer paintjob too.

That's only true for the LEP offered during the backer period. When I bought mine, the season model was already in use. This was when Horizons was close to launch, and it was stated seasons would last about a year (which Horizons lasted 2), and that atmo landings, and space legs were stated as other large planned updates at that time.

That's beside the point though. The issue is some people are worried Frontier will pull some shady move where they rename "Seasons" into something else and make them pay for it despite their LEP. That's not going to happen - as I said, the first batches of LEP were sold back when will still had no idea how Frontier would sell further expansions, and neither did they, and the LEPs reflected that fact. Then Frontier decided Season passes would be the way to go, and the LEP sold at that time reflected that, but they're still the same thing - a lifelong guarantee you wont have to pay for future expansions to the game, no matter how Frontier decides to distribute them - Season passes, piecemeal, full blown releases at the end of the year, or free for all but with microtransactions funding the whole thing.

They have delivered. They are still delivering and we know there's more to come.

They have not delivered, and we do not know when something is coming.

We have some vague assurance from a company who failed to deliver on their last assurance. (and many assurances before that)

I know you can't help yourself, but at this point there's no reason anyone would take Frontier on their word.

I don't think Frontier do it intentionally, I don't think it's malicious, I just think Frontier repeatedly sign themselves up for things they are unable to deliver.

For clarity black Friday paint jobs were a reward for Horizons pre order not for LEP. Just all those that purchased LEP at that time were considered as having pre ordered horizons and thus received the reward also.

As I recall, it was stated in the Livestream when they told us about the delay of the Carrier content, probably a couple of month ago now.

Please source it, because at that time I was watching very carefully and it was notable that they intentionally avoided commiting to a 2019 release date for premium content.

I'm saying as far as I know, Frontier saying 2019 for PC is just not true.

For extra clarity it's worth pointing out that all the LEP rewards were exactly the same as the Horizons Beta rewards.

Meaning LEP = Horizons Beta.

But everyone reading this thread knows all this anyway.
Incorrect. Owning Horizons Beta (access to all 2.x betas) didn't give access to all 1.x betas (1.0 through 1.9), whereas owning the LEP did.

Edited to change tone.

On this:

The lesson to be had here for LEP'ers and everyone else is don't buy things from Frontier on trust wait till you can see the goods, don't back them on their word alone; they don't seem to keep it.

You seem to be advising people that they should avoid payment in advance.

Yet here:

The funding model, there will as I understand it no longer be 'seasons' which was the proposed form of delivery when they advertised the lep.

But it's all cool, LEP'ers got Beyond this year.
You seem unhappy that FD are moving away from payment in advance. Could you clarify?

I don't even know what that is, you mean the non-Horizons betas? If so what is the point of that, 1.x being a subset of 2.x.
