I suppose there's only so much you can bleed out of a stone. It's about time their backers started closing their wallets. I did that ages ago with SC. I suppose the next stage in this will be more of them saying "when's the beta starting?"

CIG can always pull the "if we don't reach X ammount by the end of Y month wen can't continue the development". It has worked before Im sure backers will rush to it.

Not sure they will be successful by showing off AC!
;)

Edit:
But they obviously have to get new customers since people aren't willing to put in more money after the last big ship sale 2 weeks ago!

Well, I would think 50+ million dollars should be plenty for several years or more. Also, There have been pay to win threads. :p

Because let's face it it's always easy to criticise other people's work and tell them how to do it right. Especially when you are not doing what they are doing. That's why I try to refrain from telling people how to do things better unless they ask for advice. If I don't know about the subject, I start with ''I am not experienced in this field but these are my thoughts'' kind of sentence.

AC has several priorities. One of them being multiplayer which is just because SC is going to be a big multiplayer universe and the earlier they start working on the multiplayer the better. The other one is balancing and bug fixing. Which had several passes. A lot of the stability issues are gone there are still quiet a few remaining which will hopefully disappear soon.

But while a lot of people say keybindings and map sizes should be the priority I think they just think about themselves and not about the project as a whole. The SC production team looks at whats good for the project as a whole and decides the priorities according to that. Tackling MP issues head on being one of the significant ones as an example.

Leaderboards is another one which is not just about tracking how good you are between thousands of people but is going to be used as a metric tool for Star Citizen on the CIG side. To determine balancing issues, Kill death ratios and many many other statistics to observe data that is coming out from AC Single and Multiplayer.

More things will come soon which will satisfy other parts of the community.

The problem with your analogy is this:

There is an independent team working on the key bindings from everything else, confirmed by Travis. It's been 8+ months since the December delay and there are no custom key bindings yet. Either the team was just recently formed once CIG realized how important it is to have custom keybindings or this is the most incompetent team known to man.

So is that supose to indicate something? Decline in funding?

Let me explain how that works, Since they gathered arround 3M$ in 3 days from the Constelation (most amount in less time ever), you will se a decling graphic for some time, or when another ship sale happens, then it will rise on the "daily" and then "week" graph but not has big has constelation ofc.

Then it will go down, ship sale / fps module open , goes up, and so on.

So dont worry about the funding, its going along nicely! ;)

Hello guys I donated a Aurora starter package to be given away at 3350 followers here. If you guys want to have a chance please follow and drop by at 3350 follower mark. It's going to be a keyword raffle. So !asn will get you in the draw when the channel hits 3350 followers.

At least they're doing something right...

Well, that all depends on your expectations I guess.

I didn't expect a ton of progress to get done early on because they just formed a studio and it took a while to recruit the people to come work for them. They are pretty far behind in development.

Keeping fingers crossed on the Flight Model though :D

Exactly!

Me and 450k people agree with you. ;)

Origin 890 JUMP – The rumors are true: Origin Jumpworks has a larger ship in the works! The Origin 890 JUMP is an interstellar super-yacht with exquisite styling and an array of high quality upgrade options. Travel the stars in style with multiple decks, high visibility windows and a small boat bay. Whether you’re outfitting it to explore new worlds or to take a pleasure cruise through Terra, the 890 JUMP is the epitome of luxury, class and refinement!

Not much is know from this ship except for this concept art:

The price is probably gonna be the epitome of luxury, class and refinement, too...

Redditers know best:

Valensiakol:
I'm afraid of the cost of the 890. It's gonna be $500+ at the least...and I'm going to have to buy one... -_-

Halada:
I don't even try to justify it anymore. I've accepted my addiction.

Valensiakol:
I'm going to be frugal and sacrifice one of my LTI Aurora LX's with a CCU in order to obtain my 890. It'll save me $35 at least!

You know what? Admitting your addiction is a first step. :D

I don't get it really.

I wonder how many of those freebies played for more than 10-15 minutes? I have the basic aurora package, and tried AC once; I had too turn off after about 15 minutes because it was so appalling... It was released far too early in my view.

I am hopeful that SC will be good in the long run, and will give it another go after it reaches 0.9 or maybe 1.0. I am mainly interested in squadron 42.

From the point of view of a complete SC newbie who downloaded it because of the free trial...

I played it for about 25 minutes so far.
  • I walked around the hangar.
  • Shot some targets from a Seat Gun.
  • Crawled into a little space in the ship, then crawled out.
  • Got in and out of the pilot seat 4 times trying to start the helmet sim (kept pressing the button when 'Exit' was highlighted, I think)
  • Flew 5-10 minutes free flight, swizzing the mouse around, shooting green energy bolts off into space. It didn't feel like flying a fighter craft, in my opinion.

At that point, I had something else to do, so exited.

The weird thing was, later that evening, I didn't fire it up again. I played something else. 10+GB download, and it's only playable for 2 more days, so I really should force myself to load it up again and give it an hour.

If the AC demo was meant to feel like you were sitting in a powered down spaceship, playing a VR game about flying it, then it achieved its goal. It didn't feel anything like I thought it would, that's for sure.

I'm going to put this down to the download being a proof-of-concept tech demo, for sussing out network multiplayer issues and frame-rate performance. I'm not going to draw any conclusions about "feel" or immersion in a tech demo...

tried this out with same setup as elite and was thoroughly unimpressed i was told by others that flying would be more like flying with fa off and that there was a similar function so i could hit it and fly off and just aim my joystick it is not in there yet. If they dont add it i will be totally disappointed as it is just a beautiful sim with no punch in terms of feeling like I'm in space idk maybe your supposed to be this slow ship even with the boost on and when you turn your ship you stop instantly and start going in a diff direction it feels like a flight sim with no roll but a ton on yaw, but what ever if that's what it is I'm not in maybe it's more fun otherwise but eh I could care less about it now.

TLDR: its like a flightsim with nice graphics felt totally locked in a little extra wiggle but just locked in.

But.... it's a tech demo that's so good, it's perceived as bad :D

The devout can say "pre-alpha build, everything fixed in next version, apart form the bits in the version after that" until the cows come home, but until SC releases something that is a reasonable representation of what they have advertised as real gameplay footage - I have serious doubts as to the future of the project.

I'm not bashing SC - people may think I am, but they have my money after all and I'm looking forward to the finished product that I backed.

Also, everyone I've showed AC to so far has been really quiet about it. There's been no "oooh's" or jawdrops* and I've honestly not had anyone come round and ask to fire it up again.

I still think they can get their act together and make SC into something really good - but they have to stop all the mincing about and put some real hard graft into the core functionality - or it will slip from a 2015 release, to 2016 and beyond - and that will kill the project stone dead.

* other jawdropping space games are available

I'm definitely starting to smell the fumes of desperation rise from this project. The current flock of sheep have been shorn 'til they're bleeding and they're not getting more sheep.

Oh I think part of the current backers will still pay out a lot of money... hence why that article talking about a cult is quite real.

There's far more rabid fans than Firemonkey or Mr.Nowak on the SC forums.
People who would practically beg CR for more ship sales.

In fact there was a reddit post recently of a guy who has given so much money, he has TWO days to meet with CR.
The first 3-4 comments underneath were "Ask him when we'll have a new ship sale".

And we still only have a pre-alpha of the simplest module. There's going to be a gazilion more ship sales by the time the game is ready and the theme will continue after release.

Oh its not just going to be ship sales. As soon as the FPS module comes out we will have guns to buy as well.

edit: Heck I am betting CIG will sell GOLD ammo for the luxury crowd.

What the...
Custom keybinds and all the required UI for that is a job for two guys, a gfx designer and a dev. Since they most likely have the UI theming done anyway, the required people count is one (1).

I'll admit that the UI system in CryEngine is a bit hamfisted. However, assuming zero Cryengine knowledge, it should take you at most two weeks to get to the point where you can get up to speed with the Flash UI and Flowgraph stuff. The job itself... well let's give it another two weeks, for generousity.

If this takes more than one guy working one month (again, assuming no prior CryEngine know-how)... then that's incompetence, bad project management ("let's do this other stuff first"), or both.

Now, I can just smell the incoming "how would you know" responses. I respectfully assert that people who disagree simply don't know what they're talking about.

If they do that, SC will be dead within a few months. I seriously doubt it. Besides, the game is supposed to be moddable. That pretty much excludes the possibility to sell people ammo and guns, because they can just mod around those restrictions.

Normally this kind of advertisment campaign shouldn't require any further comment.

Your whole business model seems to be directly linked with the success of SC. No wonder that you are only speaking extremely positive about that "still in pre-alpha"-game.

I guess i am not the only one who somehow feel deceived by you&CR&CIG.
