'When' you get near, if it happens to be behind you, it'll take ages to locate or get 'near'.

Yes VR. Some of us invested a lot of money to have a 3D system for Elite. Only to have a 2D screen thrown at us.
Who mentioned scanning an entire system? Previously; Honk; Open System Map; Visually appraise what I want to detail scan, go there. FSS; Have to locate and identify everything! before I know what the hell I'm looking at. If I do find for example an ELW, I then have to go to Sys Map and tag it. (I take on board you 'Y' key thing, but it doesn't work for me). Right now, honk and open system map and use my eyes is way, way faster then using the FSS.

Eh, no you haven't. While a smug closing line might gain you a round of applause from the monkey gallery, I still stick to what I said. And just to clear something up, to the best of my knowledge, planetary info still requires a DSS. Which necessitates flying to it. I may be wrong on that though so will stand corrected if required. Unless of course you're referring to the roundy picture of a planet and a few lines of info?
And just to add more to this; On Saturday out near the Pipe Bowl, I landed in a system with 49 bodies. I tried using the FSS and could not find all the entries. So I gave up and jumped to the System Map. Nothing I was interested in, so went on my way.
I re-iterate for the umpteenth time, I respect that others love it. I hate it, for all the reasons above. And contrary to smug high horse replies, nothing has changed.

The predictability here is much more in line with the Hotel California thread; all the exact same stuff from all the exact same people. It's not doing anything productive unless we could harness the centripetal force of the carousel spin.
What this forum desperately needs is a new controversy. Who else misses the good old days when we discussed/argued about the modes, clogging and griefing?
I can tell you, having spent a year doing the same thing myself for something that nobody loves, including Frontier, "Resistance is futile."

I really wish i was exploring right now. If im hanging about this forum moaning its cause im not in game and im not in game cause of the FSS. What is the logic behind the refusal to acknowlage us? They must think that the group who is upset by the FSS is so small that its ok to just ignore it. That the forumites who defend the FSS will shout us down and close our threads and thats going to be that. Its not very nice is it? What did explorers do to get this?

You mean those people who have the time to post in every thread about the FSS and their dislike of it?... they have the time because they ain't playing Elite Dangerous as much now... if at all, those that won't be spending their wedge on further expansions and micro purchases because the game that they enjoyed is no longer enjoyable?
