PvP Does Frontier need to Re-Think PVP rules of Engagement

That's hogwash. Hogwash, I say. I'd say what I really mean, but the profanity filter would not allow it.

You do know that there are players who just want to gank, right? End of. Just gank. That's all they will do, nothing else, ever. Here endeth the lesson in reality.

Are you a ganker or a griefer? Are you friends with most of the ganker/griefers on your platform? Do you know why they do what they do? What evidence do you have to back up your claim? Because I am a ganker and I know most of these guys and I know that the vast majority of them are just bored fighting the same guys over and over again so they go to highly populated areas to find new people to fight. I'm not saying all ganking and griefing would completely stop but most would if Fdev gave us some actual, meaningful PvP that would give pvpers incentive to fight with each other instead of with harmless asps minding their own business.

This is the most ingenious system I've ever seen. It would suit E: D exceptionally well, exceptionally well indeed...

This would go some way to addressing the, [may I quote your (as--s)?], who employ ambush from behind tactics on a CMDR's obviously unarmoured vessel with a 3,000DPS alpha strike, and call that a "part of the game".

It really is genius.

Thanks for sharing

You are missing the important, nee *vital* detail, that there is a simply massive difference in player population whether you are in Open or even one of the largest PvE groups out there. If you want the background population, and care not for PvP combat, then you are basically stuck without a natural "home". You can go into a lesser populated mode to avoid the PvP combat that just isn't how you want to enjoy your leisure time. But that changes your experience of the game. -OR- you can immerse yourself in a more populated mode (apparently?) but in doing so you must change your entire approach if you are to have any hope of surviving a 3,000DPS alpha strike. Which changes your experience of the game.

That's hogwash. Hogwash, I say. I'd say what I really mean, but the profanity filter would not allow it.

Another disingenuous trope.
Reel it out often?

The point here is that my leisure time belongs to *me*, and I'll do something in the game that I *enjoy*.
Sure, I *could* adopt the "correct approach" (according to Zaphod), but in doing so, I'd diminish my enjoyment of the game. So, no, you don't get to say what the "correct approach" might be. Sorry about that, old bean, but you have no authority here to foist that onto other players :)

Nice try at putting words in my mouth, eh. But busted. Never said that.

What I *did* say is that I think this system would "suit" E: D.
I categorically never said I'd push it through to anyone's detriment.

Are you guys all the same, it what?

LOL

Another disingenuous load of old hogwash.

Keep trying, chaps, maybe you'll get something right sooner or later. But I won't hold my breath.

LOL LOL

ROFL, this guy cracks me up!

Perhaps I could recycle some of the standard tropes that usually get directed *from* you gankers onto others...

Maybe this game isn't for you?

LOL. That part is just messing with you. Funny, though.

Now to the serious part:

Bearing in mind that you've already said that "if we got decent PvP" (something that you would clearly enjoy).... And also bearing in mind that you've said that in the absence of decent PvP you pursue ganking instead... (which, by extension must be the second most enjoyable Elite holds for you)(amIrite?)

Do you really expect me and the rest of the public reading the internet to believe that if you did get decent PvP that you wouldn't pursue ganking, which you must clearly enjoy anyway.

Or is it a case of pursuing an activity in the game (ganking) that you *don't* actually enjoy?

Those are the 2 logical conclusions.

Either you must enjoy ganking. In which case you'd still do it regardless of what else the game had to offer.
Or you don't enjoy ganking, yet you still pursue it out of some twisted sense of punishment.

Please enlighten us because this is going to be great...

LOL

@Rampant--Some players enjoy ganking (or asymmetrical combat) the same way others might enjoy eating a light salad, or snarking up a few hors d'oeuvre from a passing tray: not every meal has to be a five star, 7 course affair. The moral being that it's okay to like more than one thing.

In that case, I rest my case.

I said that gankers just enjoy ganking and will therefore never stop ganking regardless of what they say they want instead. And you're telling me I'm right.

I knew I was tight anyway. Just cannot abide the righteous indignation that some people foist onto this forum. "I gank because there's nothing else to do." Either you enjoy ganking, in which case you'll never stop. Or you really must hate the game in which case why do you even bother? (Perhaps it's a juvenile angst response similar to "I can't have it, so I'll destroy it in order that nobody else can have it either). So funny.

This thread has really steered itself into my lane. I like it.

You're quoting my typo made me chuckle. I didn't think I could enjoy this thread any more than I was, because winner, but that typo quote is just the icing on top. Brilliant.

Thanks for that.

And thank you everyone else for allowing the truth to finally be ousted.
