Spacelegs is a pipe dream.

Considering how undercapitalized all the existing cosmetic DLC options already are, I think it's a huge stretch to think that the cost of adding mobile avatars to the game would suddenly open the floodgates to a heretofore untapped DLC market. They're selling cockpit interior decorations now, it's just that they're garbage. Do you think they would sell substantially more Christmas lights if we could get out of our chairs? More bobbleheads? More boots and zipper jackets? Do you think if Frontier sold entirely different cockpit interiors, or interior color schemes, or customizable interior layouts, tinted windshields, or wall posters, that they wouldn't be able to sell them RIGHT NOW?

Currently the player mainly looks at the front-side of the cockpit (canopy and HUD). So the cosmetics are primarily to decorate that area. The ship paintjob cosmetics are appealing due to the third person camera. HUD cosmetics aren't yet available, but frequently requested.

When we can walk in the rest of the cockpit it'll be worthwhile to add decorative cosmetics for that area. Such as different types of cockpit styles, furniture, posters and wallpapers. There's more potential cosmetic DLC if they add additional ship compartments such as a Captain's Cabin, Combat Information Center, Crew's Quarters, Engineering and Hangar.

When we can walk people will care more about how they're dressed. So character costumes would sell better. Such as for role playing with more than the standard clothing.

Some of the ship interior cosmetics should be free.

Space legs is one of those things that I don't really ever want. First of all because it would make playing in VR a huge pain in the , but also because I feel that if we got space legs game play on the level that SRV game play currently is, then what would be the point? Driving an SRV is consistently the worst experience in the game, and the only reason I ever do it is because I have to do it in order to upgrade my ships. If some day in the future they manage to make the SRV gameplay interesting and fun, we can start talking about space legs. But until that day, I hope they don't spend any of their resources on it.

Playing Skyrim VR only made me want spacelegs more and driving the SRV is even more fun in VR than it was in pancake mode. So as far as I'm concerned lets have them legs naow.

Why are people so hooked on the prospect of space legs? It might be interesting your sleeping quarters or checking out your luxury passenger cabin, but I don’t get the hype.

  1. A real sense of scale*,
  2. Immersion (omg the immersion),
  3. A plethora of new gameplay mechanics
  4. A host of new community content that can be created (noting the talent we have at the moment, I'm thinking Cmdr's would make full on TV-like episodes),
  5. Many players are very connected to their ships (emotionally), so being able to walk around and inside it would add to that immensely
  6. It will allow many players to feel like they really are in space, in a game-world that lets them travel 50,000 light years and stand on the edge of a cliff in their Remlock suits on an uncharted world and look up at the sky. Yes they can do it now, but doing it from the cockpit and doing it 50ft away from your ship.. completely different experiences. :)
  7. With legs could come a range of immersive new content, like player homes. The ability to buy a property on a planet, or a station, and kit it out with all kinds of furniture and "tangible" rewards from around the galaxy.

It's one of those additions that will, I believe, round out the ED experience to it's fullest.

Plenty of stuff to do and make between then and now though. :)
