I know its not strictly Canon, but with the recent emergence of the faction calling themselves The Dark Wheel, and needing to be Elite to access their home system, I thought this part of The Dark Wheel by Robert Holdstock tied into the narrative:

"One thing's for sure,' Rafe went on drily. 'Unless you get there, unless you become Èlite, you'll never get to Raxxla. And you'll never know exactly what your father was searching for.'
'I don't understand.'
'Were you aware of his involvement in The Dark Wheel?'

So perhaps the secret to finding Raxxla lies in Shinrarta Dezhra, as you need to be Elite to gain entry. I am also assuming the emblem on the dark wheel logo is also Elite? (Combat?)

I always found that grave accent very intriguing. It's no accident that accent was put on there. ;)

The main screen image is not realistic at all. Bodies are too close to each other, they wouldn't exist because of the tidal forces, even if they do with some kind of magic, the station is clearly visible, it must be too close to the surface. it wouldn't be able to stay in a stable orbit between two bodies. Even it would be possible too I would report it as a bug it doesn't match with the only real image clue we have - the one in the codex. It's very close to a star, a red one and the text says it's orbiting the 8th moon of a gas giant, I believe that info is correct. It would be too stupid otherwise. Of course it's a speculation and speculations are not always true IRL, but this is a game and now Devs want us to find it.

I also doubt the numbers on stations would uncover a secret. Yes, DB loves numbers, but look at what the Thargoid scan numbers did mean - an easter egg. And it was even a solid clue from a recently implemented mystery. My best guess is that those numbers lead to an easter egg too.

You guys are incredible and I honestly think that reading through this thread is much more enjoying than Raxxla story FDev did put in. You're hyphothesizing better than I could ever do. Well I'm not stupid but I have this language barrier, I learned English by myself and it's still not very good that sometimes it's hard to get the metaphors or think outside the box. So I humbly try to stay in the Red Team in this thread. I would like to kindly propose that when constructing new ideas please consider the facts we already know and confirmed lore which most of it is summed up beautifully with the sources in the first post of this thread by Macros Black, hope he adds the new codex entries too ^^.

Clues lying around scattered, not always linked to each other, major gaps between them, seems like they are not related or leading/connecting to anything - Here I quote another great contributor of this thread, whom I also love to read:
OK do bare with me - we've been drinking.

Fever dream last night...dreamt of various factions, then the gaps between them, it created a network. The network of unpopulated areas which had concentrations. One of them had six spokes...

This came I realise as a reverse of what we do at work. We gather intelligence on nominals; their personal details, locality and connections with others. This is used to identify spacial relationships and focus resources. Its called ERD - Entity relationship modelling.

I know we have very little hard evidence regards Raxxla but I suppose what I'm trying to get at is, if we took all the known data we do have on the activity surrounding the old Dark Wheel missions and join the dots in a spacial ERD what will we get?

Honestly I think it would just be chaos as probably random, which is why I won't tackle it...that and the time commitment.

Then again some ERDs show voids where intelligence is missing....this sometimes is as powerful as solid intel...it can show operational thinking or where resources should be focused.

OK the baco-foil just ran out...back to reality. I'm going to check down the back of the sofa again that's normally where things turn up.

Or would it be possible for FD to "remove" barnards loop for the start screen so its not totaly obvious where it is?

The login screen has a pretty bright star as a sunrise. It's possible that the engine itself dimmed the background (to simulate our canopy darkening) enough to make Barnard's Loop too black to see. Take the login screen image and increase luminosity with a graphics program to see if you see traces of Barnard's Loop, and/or in-game go to 500? 1000? LS distance from a star where the HDR and bloom settings kick in to make it look like that, and see if you can still see Barnard's Loop.

Numbered Stations

Everything can be found in game.
I believe we have had some clues since the start, but the riddles in the Codex entry are also clues.

There is a numbered outpost that belongs to the Dark Wheel on the 8th moon of a gas giant in Shinrarta Dezhra. It has two buildings that look like circular water tanks and they have this decal of a star on their side and a very decal-y AR9 23. So it's not limited to orbital stations.

The Codex entry is a map. 4 sentences in the toast at the top. Add the word "Go" in front, to change what sounds like a toast "To blah" into directions "Go to blah." And 4 paragraphs in the body, each with a different mythology reference (first Persephone, second Atlantis, Eldorado, etc., third Omphalos and Astrophel, fourth "fernweh"). And a last paragraph about Dark Wheel involvement.

I wouldn't be too quick to throw Guru's claim to the winds.

I'm not, but while he did give us the starting point, and helpful links, he did not give us something that's very necessary IMO: how to recognize that we've started / are on the right path. What the very first NPC contact in the series looks like. I figure once we experience it, we should be able to recognize more along the same lines, and thus continue, but without the first, we're left still blind, groping at all these hints and mythological references, without a clue.

Here's why: Strophalos, also known as Hecate’s wheel has only one ancient reference. The Alexandrian "Chaldean Oracle" talks about Hecate's wheel. Strophalos contains a serpent in its design that is supposed to symbolize rebirth. Unsurprisingly Hecate is related to Persephone as she is referenced in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter.

She cried with a piercing voice, calling upon her father [Zeus], the son of Kronos, the highest and the best. But not one of the immortal ones, or of human mortals, heard her voice. Not even the olive trees which bear their splendid harvest. Except for the daughter of Persaios, the one who keeps in mind the vigor of nature. She heard it from her cave. She is Hekatê, with the splendid headband

Hekatê is spelt with a 'ê' the same letter used in "Unless you get there, unless you become Èlite, " Which on the keyboard is Alt+138.

There are many more striking similarities I am trying to work out but it seems to me like the number of coincidences associated with the story of Persephone and Demeter and Dark Wheel / Raxxla lore are fairly intense. If you go to some of these systems you will also notice a lot of the NPCs seem to have names associated mythology.

A line can too be drawn to the Codex material through not only the story of Hades abducting Persephone but also in the depictions of Persephone. Then they led her to the phila palace of their father.

She was walking behind them, sad in her philon heart. She was wearing a veil on her head, and a long dark robe [peplos] trailed around the delicate feet of the goddess

Persephone in one story is even linked to creation

When Cura (Core) [Persephone] was crossing a certain river, she saw some clayey mud. She took it up thoughtfully and began to fashion a man. While she was pondering on what she had done, Jove [Zeus] came up; Cura asked him to give the image life, and Jove readily grant this. When Cura wanted to give it her name, Jove forbade, and said that his name should be given it. But while they were disputing about the name, Tellus [Gaia] (Earth) arose and said that it should have her name, since she had given her own body. They took Saturnus [Kronos (Cronus)] for judge; he seems to have decided for them : Jove, since you gave him life [text missing, presumably he was given control of the fate of men] let her [Persephone] receive his body [after death]; since Cura fashioned him; let her [Gaia] posses him as long as he lives, but since there is controversy about his name, let him be called homo, since he seems to be made from humus

Then you factor in some of the details in the ED Gal map like the fact that the system Persephone has a ELW called Kore (cura, Persephone) and you start seeing some remarkable connections. At some point these random coincidences become less and less likely coincidences and more likely a connection.

Hmm, I just realized that the station form the horizon main menu is most likely not the dark wheel station. From the codex:

Im not too sure if this station is more reasonable. Dont you think this station is too close to the sun because we know it orbits the 8. moon of a gas giant. It should be further away from the sun, not?

OP updated with Codex Raxxla info. DW Codex looks interesting too, might add it later.

I've located 44 systems that has an A- or O class star and an Orbis Starport:
12 d Bootis
16 Lyrae
17 Draconis
18 Lambda Piscium
19 Leonis Minoris
3 Corvi
38 Lyncis
40 Leonis Minoris
47 Ceti
51 Aquilae
7 Pi-1 Orionis
72 Ophiuchi
Aditi
Algorab
Alioth
Altair
Beta Circini
Beta Octantis
Chih Zhi
Epsilon Serpentis
Eta Horologii
Fomalhaut
Fulastobo
H Puppis
He Bo
HIP 14619
HIP 88726
HR 4062
Inti
Megrez
Nu-1 Columbae
Omega-1 Aquarii
Osira
Phekda
Prism
Randgnid (Colonia)
Talitha
Tau Centauri
Theta Indi
Thunderbird
Tvasta
Vega
Wenda
Xi-2 Lupi

Task now seems more doable, at least these systems can be ruled out for being the origin for the Horizon Main menu background.
select distinct a.SystemName from [EDsystems].[dbo].tblEDStations a WHERE a.Type = 'Orbis Starport'
AND SystemName in (
select distinct SystemName from [ED_Body1].[dbo].[tblEDBody]
WHERE SubType in ('A (Blue-White super giant) Star', 'A (Blue-White) Star', 'O (Blue-White) Star' )
union
select distinct SystemName from [ED_Body2].[dbo].[tblEDBody]
WHERE SubType in ('A (Blue-White super giant) Star', 'A (Blue-White) Star', 'O (Blue-White) Star' )
union
select distinct SystemName from [ED_Body3].[dbo].[tblEDBody]
WHERE SubType in ('A (Blue-White super giant) Star', 'A (Blue-White) Star', 'O (Blue-White) Star' )
union
select distinct SystemName from [ED_Body4].[dbo].[tblEDBody]
WHERE SubType in ('A (Blue-White super giant) Star', 'A (Blue-White) Star', 'O (Blue-White) Star' )
)
order by 1

The assumption is of course that edsm contains the relevant data, I managed to import all of it, and I got the sql select right.

I'm with you on this. I think the image is an idealized image, since if there was a gas giant that close to the sun, and revealing the colour of the sun, would be too revealing - in terms of proximity and star type. FD know only too well when they reveal this kind of information players get to it very quickly.

Ok. Anyone here who really searched Tau Ceti?

Ive been nosing around there recently. Nothing out of the ordinary yet

The only thing thats a little strange is the FSS seems a little bugged there.

I brought it up a few pages back - Think it's probably nothing.

Interesting system though with a good backstory, I'm continuing to work there with the bald fellas to see if anything happens. Checking out Convoys and manifest scanning. Nothing yet but I'll probably spend a little more time there amongst other things

Stars near the end of their lifes may become enormous. I think that would make a great story if TDW want to relocate their station and miss-jump due to Thargoid interference. If we pull the right strings and trigger some events, maybe. Then they broadcast an emergency call to the elite pilots, etc.

Something I'd like to ask: The Codex tells about Art and Kore who obviously lived in Tau Ceti. Did we already search and probe that system thoroughly? Idea behind it is, if Kore actually had a map, it might be hidden there somewhere...

Currently pootling around in Tau Ceti upon this very assumption. Nothing really sticking out, faction alignment is pretty easy as is their permit but not a great deal to do otherwise.

Highly likely I have missed something, next I'll explore encircling systems in search any factions linked to Art or Kore / crash site etc...be cool if there was some breadcrumb out there, this is as good a place as any.

And that got me thinking. The toast and codex are enticing an all but need more concrete evidence, and by all accounts there's been something in game since day one pointing the way.

So its probably time for my Cmdr to finally begin their journey towards Elite.

I've been in game since launch and never really sought after riches nor Elite rank. That all changed when I hit Dangerous the other night.

Dangerous was my old 84 rank and the key objective for my current Cmdr. Now for perspective my intention was always to savour the journey, choosing those routes least travelled, flying nothing but an old Cobra mk iii since launch and role playing not grinding.

For those with eyes to see read your flight instruction manual (p28). They have been watching all along.

I'll slip off and explore and maybe someone will be in touch; I've a feeling they may have tried before but this time I'll listen.

I also want to remind you that its being in the game since day 1 does not mean it's still in the same shape. It's probably a station in the beginning, now it's on a non-atmospheric planet and it will be on an atmospheric planet prior to the update. If it's not found by then obviously.

I remember DW's post in this thread about the FR myth evolved with the game updates. (they put some assets on the planet surfaces after the horizons update) Too lazy to find it now at 4 am.

I think important that the ship for searching was multi-purpose - that is Cobra. At the beginning simple missions can be given (to transport, get that that, to destroy someone). In purely fighting ship or explorer ship, to you the mission won't be offered just. Well and on Lore only Cobra.

I forgot. What about the crashed cobra of the jameson that was the character from the old game. Maybe it's in range of his ship. I think the wiki had info on it. Not new info. But their family as the main characters would be alittle bit obvious. What about the games might lead into the raxxla hunt and other things?
