So im not entirley sure if this mystery was cleared up, but I do remember in a previous posts on the thread about the extremley strange objects in the Alpha Cygni System Map. These two “clouds” as I like to refer to them, are constantly fading and growing and changing shap conplegley in the bottome right hand corner, with a bright orb dimming and reappearing between each respectivley. After exploring the system you can view this wether you are in system or not after waiting on the system map screen for around 3-5mins.

This phenomena stunned me as one lf the the most blatant system map visuals I have seen. Wether it is relevant ti the search or not I think its worth looking into, as I have not found much discussion online about this, tho I may be behind the curve here.

Ps. I apologize I had trouble posting a picture of this ontothe forums for complete evidence

I worked on that with some friends, and am now suggesting is a bug. Quite an eye to spot it though. Well done on that and the subsequent reporting of it.
I researched that on stream and was able to replicate it in other systems. And thank you, Cmdd_Legendie. o7

Have you been to check it out yet? Was at Zeta Cass yesterday to no avail. Didn’t go to HR 124 tho.

*securely fastens tinfoil hat* so I’ve been thinking, maybe we need to get to the... crux... of the issue (see what I did there? :p) Cassiopeia is in the north, and she’s holding a mirror. Crux is in the south and holds ‘The Jewel Box’ cluster. She would see that. It’s a jewel she would be seeing, and it might be a little on the nose to stuff something in the southern cross where X marks the spot. It might even be described as ‘just a little bit obvious’.

I know this is a bit late but I visited both those systems for you: https://imgur.com/a/MvBYlJw
Nothing of interest in either the system map or the system itself, as far as I could tell.

Ha ha, welcome to Deneb. :)

Did quite a bit of research on this, a couple of months back(before and after 3.3 launch). I think ti might be an effect that is only meant for VR, that spills over. In VR you get this in a lot of systems.

The strange thing is that in no VR it only happens with big stars, in Cygnus.

Probably a bug, but still mysterious. ;)

Hi Orthon, the strange missions - I think that's just a new missions mechanic in beyond 4. Quite a few people have had this and if your used to the old ways then it will seem strange. They weren't there in the original game so should not be the right path?

In many stations I get the 'mission objective found' message as I launch. Usually its just a trader mission with a type-9 in open space.

The NYSA mission was a black - box, though the grain cannister was interesting to me, but in the end it just fizzled out.

One of the troubles with all of this, is that all the NPCs have interesting names in order to make the game feel good and its all to easy to read too much into them and suffer from coincidence.

I suspect we are missing the first hook, and that if we can work it out then it will unravel nicely. Keep looking - its more interesting than pew-pew :) and I've learnt tons of old mythology and astronomy

Dont want to sound practical but has anyone thought of reporting this as a bug, if its an intended mission mechanism then so be it, if not it needs flagging. FD can't monitor all lines of tin-foil to weed out such bugs.

They logically wouldn't confirm / deny but if its not intended it can go on the list for house-keeping. Be nice to draw a line under it otherwise we'll be seeing meaning in ice patterns in our canopies soon.

Has it been reported?

Regarding polaris and the pole star - due to earths wobbling and the precession of the orbit, the pole star is not polaris in either ancient greek times or in 3305. In Ancient greece its a choice of beta-Ursa-minor, or kappa draconis. In 3305, Errai (gamma-Cephus) is the nearest bright star. Is this relevant ? - not sure !

I have an idea folks. And it’ll require at least 1 other CMDR in a big boat. Other than Ryder, the only cannon CMDR we know of to be a member of TDW is Salomé. Seems to me contacting TDW might be helpful in finding Raxxla. According to the Codex and other Cannon sources, TDW cannot be contacted unless they contact you first, which will be in the form of a mission (a test of courage) where the mission giver from TDW will be in disguise, only revealing themselves when it’s completed. Salomé’s post mortem message includes a warning about the club, and calls for us to stop trading and selling to the major powers. But also to be disruptive. Challenge autorities, blockade ports etc to force the hand of the club and make them reveal themselves. Sooooo, I wanna run a blockade of Mars High for a couple hours. Even if you just wanted to park and go AFK that would be fine but it seems it worth a try to see what happens. I’d prolly try and get ahold of the CoR too and see if they wouldn’t be interested in blockading capital ports or other ports of importance to the major powers. I don’t think sitting near the slot will get a loitering charge, I’ll have to try and see. But if not we can just park real close and stop traffic to disrupt them financially.
I’d make a post the day prior here to let other CMDR’s know, because the idea isn’t to disrupt individuals, but the powers, and also to call some attention to it from FDEV :p other than that just be cordial to people coming in who might not know, not looking to get in a gun fight. What y’all think?

It’s possibly relevant. Even ‘older’ pole stars could be relevant, if that’s where we need to look.

The ED sky is a copy of the 2014 sky, as far as I know. Polaris is the north star, in game.

Lotta good a dead person is though.

Yeah but that was the message we got she sent after she knew she would die. It was something we were supposed to do in the event she didn’t make it. Really it’s the only message we have directly from a DW member.

IIrc Salome was a Storyevent bei DW to decide the outcome of his novel. If I were to focus on CMDR Salome I would start, where she started: 46 Eridani. Lots of landable planets. Haven‘t been there, but plan on going there after finishing a certain Tip Off.

Both this and Garand's ideas are worth looking into imo. There is more Salome's story I think the community missed collectively

I was pondering about 46 Eridani myself earlier. Might still be something there to find, and it should at least be in somewhat close proximity to where she picked up her data, if not in that system itself.
Given the story, I do think a blockade on open is worth a shot. If anyone with a Sol permit wants to give it a try at Mars High or other ports in systems of importance I’m certainly willing to donate a couple hours time to it, if nothing else but to eliminate or confirm the idea. I’ll try to sit real close to the slot in solo when I get home to see if it can be done without gaining an infraction. If so I figure I’ll make a post in discussion to let people know to minimize inconvenience to pilots, and also perhaps encourage others to do the same.
