[DW2] How many have dropped off?

Although not everyone uses EDSM, it can be used as a good barometer.. as of now 23.74% (of 6,874) have arrived at Polo, so that is a base line that can be used.

Well, the percentage of EDSM users who've made it to Polo can likely be extrapolated to those who don't use it.

I'm just looking forward to getting the next update on the route, so I can plot the most interesting path from Colonia to WP6 after swinging out here to do some engineer unlocking before carrying on the rest of the way.

I don't use EDSM so those statistics don't include at least one CMDR. :) I have less time to play nowadays, but at the very least I do the weekly travel between waypoints. I had to make compromises on what systems I fully scan so I can travel faster. My primary goal is to finally reach Beagle Point as I know I'll never have the patience and motivation to do it again. Too bad I don't have more time studying the bodies I find, but I won't leave the expedition.

Orvidius's EDAstro.com has some excellent visualizations as well, and the decaying heatmaps show quite nicely how people have dropped off. There's a slower one specifically for DW2, even. You can tell that quite a lot of people have dropped out soon, but that's little wonder: they probably realised that exploration isn't what they expected it to be.

Also, think about it this way. Even if only 500 players were to finish DW2, that would still be much more than most expeditions can manage.

That reminds me. Is there a full roster of who finished DW1, so how many people got through it? Beyond the EDSM page, that is.

EDAstro is really cool! Thanks for the link :)

Yes attrition on DW2 will be far higher than it was on DW1. According to roster stats nearly 10,000 players indicated that this would be their first major expedition, so its no surprise some will realize its not exactly for them and drift away.

As for the DW1 roster, there's no roster just for those that finished, but the full roster has a column at the end showing which players reached Beagle Point during that expedition (571 out of 1,153).

DW1 Roster.

agreed the Astro maps are cool. cant wait to see the DW2 map grow and you can see the difference in it the further we go. I would prob say 2/3 or 3/4 are still with us so far. prob going to see a big dip after WP7

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Raises hand. :D

I wish that I could say I'm proud.
I'm sorry that I let you down.
Let let let you down.

Still going here, swapped my Cutter for my Exploraconda at Colonia after a enforced layover to correct a minor 300cr mistake... So glad I did though, 60ly range+neutron highway = 230ly range. Such an improvement. Not to mention the potential for extra-curricular-activities..

I REALLY, REALLY want to help EDSM out as I do dw2. I think i’ll dm on twitter. I gots no rl money right now but i can share data n time.

20 jumps to the next wp for me. I took a more direct route as I will be out for a bit at the end of the week and my arm bothers me on long evenings (the reason I'll be out is to have it looked at, something about an acromioclavicular joint, early degradation and impingement).

hmmm, when i finish my sessions in this game my right shoulder joint is in pain, wonder if im having the same issue. pulling on that X52 Pro stick cant be good for you 3 hours a night and most weekends.

Finally my comp arrived fixed. I cursed a lot as they needed to reinstall Win. I didn't backup my Elite bindings and now I've spent almost an hour putting things back where it belongs. I have 12kLY to WP6, I think I'll get there in time.

So, count me back in.

WB Space Voyager...

I have noticed back at WP1 and WP2 i used to bump into many commanders at the POI's but now i haven't met any. I wonder if thats either me being unlucky in not bumping into you all or the drop off has impacting this.

I think now that we're a month into the expedition players will be more spread out. the first 2 wps is where the highest concentration of players would be as we all set off at the same time. but now players are either lagging far behind or racing far ahead. so it could be a mix of players finding it harder and more time committing than they realized and dropout, and people who are still on the trip being spread far apart. ironically i find the smaller PGs are much better than the big PGs for meeting people as i always find friends in the pg i'm in with a few friends i made along the way, but rarely see anyone in fleetcomm and mobius.

yea you might have a point there. but then again supposedly 13k players, bumping into 1, 2, 3 or 4 around the POI's should be expected, especially playing in Fleetcomm PG
