The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

You're right, it shouldn't be the GMP's job to list all nebula, but another database isn't a good solution. The onus should be on EDSM to make 'planetary nebula' a search constraint, like codex entries and green systems.

This not programmatically possible at this time. Log entries do not contain any data about a system having a nebula. This is in contrast to green systems, which are possible to determine from log files.

Hello all,
I have recently found a crash site near Colonia.
It has 2 eagles, what looks like a T9 and another ship I am not sure which.
There are canisters to collect on the surface as well.
How do I report this find and upload the photos. I have looked at the top of the page, and cannot see where I submit the find.

HL Lupis is not just a difficult-to-reach system. It is one-way trip that requires a neutron boost in Dryo Ausms DS-I D10-0 and also some FSD injections or WDs boosts before to reach the neutron star. I highly recommend to add this to the system`s description, so long range explorers will not waste their time to understand at last that this is one-way trip and rookies won`t find themselves trapped there.

Alright here we go, this is my first GMP submission ever! I hope the system is worthwhile! I thought it was all rather cool!

Type: Planetary Features
Name:The Oceans of Magnus
Game map search ref:Hypuae Briae JS-A d14-742
Description:Discovered during Distant Worlds 3305 by CMDR Eagle131 [MEC420], the system is located approximately 80 LY West of the vivid side of the Magnus Nebula.

The system features a Class III Gas Giant with two ringed Water World Moons, a ringed Rocky Ice moon, and a ringed Gas Giant with Water Life moon which has it's own landable moon. The water world moons' rings are the main attraction here, as they provide some fantastic views of the moons themselves, the parent gas giant, as well as the Magnus Nebula.

The Oceans of Magnus makes for a great rest stop for travelers wishing to view Magnus in all it's colorful glory!

Dang, well that's a bummer. I figured since the system name had "Nebula" after it in the galmap, that there'd be some way to track it. So that data would need to be manually append based on reports from commanders? Man, if only we had some sort of mapping project to report these to... nudge nudge, wink wink

If you need a volunteer to confirm nebula, I'd gladly spend some time on making planetary nebula easier to find through edsm. Perhaps making use of the StellarRemnantNebula tag, and add it to the list of celestial bodies?

Should I pm Anthor or another admin about this instead, since the nebula wouldn't be appearing as markers on the galactic map?

moon of a brown dwarf with large rings that pass within 300km of the surface, visibly move to the naked eye from the planets surface. The most fun part however is sitting in the edge of the rings and flying past the planet and having it just miss you, see the video made by chank saotome (taken from just inside the rings, the edges pass much closer) -
also a green system

Name: Polonium Trees
Game map search ref: Swueneia XV-C d57
GMP region: The bleak lands
Description: This world is a dream come true for anyone seeking to top off on level 3 jumponium on the way to outer rims. Orbiting 53 kLs around a class A star is a little moon (C 2 A) with lots of bio signs, 12 to exact. The life happens to be Crystalline Shards. It is a long way out, but every tree-top in this crystalline forrest is made of Polonium. But to those not careful this world can turn into a nightmare when the SRV gets impaled on one of the large shards. It is also a green system.

Every signal is a Polonium cluster. Gathering 200 units is like shooting fish in a barrel:

But be careful or the SRV gets hung up high and dry. Not even the trusters were able to get the expensive tree ornament back on the ground:

Hope this is the right format. And forgive the pic links, the image tool doesn't seem to be working. One of the pics is my ship looking at the planet, so that should be proof enough that I was there.

Description:On entering this neutron star system one can be surprised by the appearance of the A-type star filling the view. It might look like you are in orbit around a scoopable star with a neutron star slightly off into the distance and it can take a moment to realize the reverse is the case.
The neutron star has a mass of 1.9 solar masses against the A-type star of 1.5, however the neutron star only has a radius of about 30 km against close to a million km for it's lighter companion.

I'd like to point out this submission as an example of what really meets the 'notability' criteria. This system is incredible. Not only is the ringed ELW orbiting a black-hole with light sources way far distant, there are three more water worlds in this system, including one with a ring. My only wish is that we had a better picture - anyone willing to take up that challenge?

Name:Heliotrope Nebula
Game map search ref:Plaa Aoscs HA-A e9427
Description:Located in the Perseus Stem, approx. 11kly from Sag A* and 1560ly west from the Morphenniel Nebula, this is a small planetary nebula with a black hole at it's center and a lonely Class I Gas Giant on an eccentric orbit with a long orbital period. The gravitational lensing from the black hole against the nebula in the background can resemble a bloodstone, hence the name. The nebula itself can be best seen from the nearby systems.

Perhaps someone else already tried to submit these, but a search with system name came up empty so i'm submitting.
Found this on my way back from the first DIstant Worlds expedition couple of years ago.
Hope it's the right format.

Name: Helium White Rhino
Type: Planetary
Galmap Ref: Ooch Chrea US-U d2-21

Desc: Planet 2 of this system is an Helium Gas Giant. Prior to discovery of this object, the only other examples of this type of body - in the entire explored galaxy - were in system 52 Herculis. Explorers were asked to visit this system to confirm that reports of it were not the result of space madness. The Helium Gas Giant is so rare that it can be compared with the white rhino of old earth, which dwindled to a single animal when facing extinction. Only time will tell if the Helium White Rhino goes extinct.

Please note that these bodies are often confused with 'Helium-RICH Gas Giants' which are not nearly as rare. Explorers should also note that as of April 3005, Universal Cartographic's "Codex" information system incorrectly identifies "Helium-Rich Gas Giants" as "Helium Gas GIants", and vice-versa.

First discovery of this body is attributed to Cmdr Joe 2016. Pictures and additional confirmation were provided by Cmdr. Spid3r.
