Roadmap leaked??

interesting, you say you don't know anything about coding and game development but you do know it's alot easier to create space legs, ships and station interiors, human and alien AI forms, animations of those, EVA and mechanics related to FPS gameplay (which presented and still do most bugs and complexity in SC)....etc than few kinds of atmos with adjusted FM.

Your right there bud, just my assumptions tbh. But keep in mind Fdev have stated that ships have been designed with interiors in mind, whats to say stations haven’t also been designed the same way, so the groundwork would likely already be there for it. Initial space legs will also probably be limited to our ships, whereas Atmos would deff require more Ai forms & animations for animals/alien life and perhaps local vegetation and cloud movements due to changing atmospheric ground conditions if there is any. As for fps gameplay I’m expecting basic interaction with our environment, I don’t think anyone is hoping for COD or Halo levels of fps gameplay mechanics.

Just watched obsidian ants video on the 4chan roadmap leak.

It's easy to troll these posts but it seems a reasonable suggestion that 2020 is spacelegs and base building.not saying I believe it but interesting none the less.

Hmm, like OA I think I'd be fairly sceptical, still you never know... Be interesting to see if FD comment any, I'm thinking no, anything they say will fuel whichever bit of paranoia you subscribe to so probably best to remain slient.

Still, I do tend to think legs has to come soon(ish) - they'll need it to be considered a complete modern space game soon enough (since everyone else seems to be doing it to some extent). Base building feels less likely to me, cool, sure, and I'm all for it but I think it would be terribly hard to shoehorn that in to what we have.

Anyway, time will tell.

How about, when you expect said technical artist to start producing technical illustrations of the assets that the coders will then be expected to build from those schematics? It seems highly unlikely that such skilled staff members would be told to twiddle their thumbs instead of redeploying them on other titles.

Edit: Tight lipped to the outside world sure, but you can't run a business internally like that.

This is a fun point. A concept artist certainly might get to work across all the franchises, and know some of the 'big picture' stuff about them. (Even be in a place to share concept art of the same from pre-production - involving alien art styles or what have you...)

A technical artist less so it seems to me (they seem to be more involved with functioning assets), which is another clunky aspect to the info potentially. But hey, they'd definitely hang out with concept artists a lot :D

EDIT: Caveat: I'm no dev tho, and only guessing at this via minor google-fu ;)

Well, I;m looking forward to Will and Paige reacting.

"I wonder what happened on the weekend?"

Looks on forum

"Ah"

Low rumbling from DB office in background

They already know about the various videos and forum/Reddit conversations on the alleged leaks. During my chats with with Will and Paige yesterday at the Elite Community Meet (in Manchester) I brought the topic up and showed them the community's opinions (up to that point).

Was the reaction to the leak (1) mouth agape, as if "OMG, the secret is out! How the hell ...?" or was it (2) eyes rolled to the heavens "Oh crap, THIS happened and now the devs are really going to have to out-do themselves".

Or did they line up the Tequila Slammers ready for the working week ahead? :D

Its a bit convenient that leaks release, just as there is an ED event with possible drink related bribery....I'm seeing a cunning plan....

The 4chan original leak was a week ago; I got the impression they already knew about it. FDev say they won't comment on rumours or speculation, although will listen to feedback regardless.

They are likely not commenting because they can't think of a PR-friendly way of saying "P.T. Barnum was right."
(His catchphrase was "a sucker is born every minute."

Pretty much what I said a few posts back ...

I am sure of one thing about this (fake) leak, and that's Frontier will have seen the reaction, seen who reacted and how, AND seen what got support and what didn't, and maybe, just maybe, used that to tweak (but not change) what they are doing just a tiny little bit.

Thank you. What more proof do you need? Frontier instantly respond to stuff when they feel they need to.

Right well, we’re getting space legs! Awesome.

It’s frontier. Lack of action or stony silence is a valid communication method for them.

If they’ve known about it for a week I can’t think of any stronger message than that.

I know it’s backwards but we have to work with what we’ve got, we can’t change them, only accept.

That's like the US Govt. not denying they have a captured flying saucer in Area 21 🤷‍♂️ So it must be true, then :alien:
