Been out for a week, and there are a few new contributors who have gone over some old ground - welcome to the chase!

To help provide a way marker, I reference The Siant's potted summary of this now very huge thread which details much of the tinfoil that's already been explored.

in addition some useful resources:
Ian Bells page of the dark whell novella by Robert Holdstock
List of known tourist beacons
Searchable glanet archive by Frank Heinrich
Alternatively, reading the whole thread is not too time consuming if you scan quickly through.. :)

Over on discord, Scolio's channel also has some nice resources - I'll leave it to him to invite. There is also some info on the Canonn discord thread, though this is quieter now.

With regards to Lave - the FSS can find a tin-can in space (eg voyager probes) at great distances - we have no reason to doubt it can find a planetary body at any distance.
In lore, Raxxla is always described as a planet - or planet sized object or place. Also there is no reason to assume its close to the bubble - its quite possibly up to 10 kLy from sol, which would explain why no-one has 'bumped into' it. The Dark Wheel station is a different matter and more likely closer.

xzanfr: I had the same thing - a mission to lave2 that was undeliverable - a bug.

Re: the old worlds, here is my list of old world systems in game and the ensuing research from others - this was triggered by Drew wondering about the old worlds and why only some are in the game and some are a bit off location..

The whole 'tiny bit obvious' possibly related to the older DW missions which were binned.

They were bit obvious because they discussed Raxxla ergo 'tiny bit obvious'.

Think we ought not to rely too much on old clues nor lore as its likely FD has scrapped that narrative in favour of what we have now.

I'm going off the assumption all current lore is in the codex and anything prior to that may no longer be relevant.

If ever there is another Q & A we ought to get this clarified.

There is a strong hint in the Dark Wheel codex entry that the old missions have been scrapped, in that Felicity farseer more or less states that TDW in Shindez is a fake. Thats a whole paragraph to say just that..

But whats left in Shin Dez is just a shell... people been hauling for them for 6 months and nothing happens..all the old 'shhhh - you know' missions suddenly vanished and no menation of R ever again.

I've kept an eye on passenger missions and some of them demand transportation of famous explorers to very distant places in the galaxy, and since TDW is "...a legendary group of adventurers, explorers, investigators and treasure hunters...", it seems logical to me to give those explorers a ride, most probably among other things to do for TDW in order to pass "a suitable test of courage and skill".

I don't think that those that did missions for 6 months made multiple 20 kLy trips, but I'm still waiting for the confirmation.

IMHO those missions in the bubble are there only to get allied with TDW.

Orca and Dolphin currently parked on bricks at Gallileo...

Might buy a Beluga, but it seems kinda redundant at this point.

I can't remember the passenger cabin requirements, but since they're famous explorers, I don't think they'll occupy much space. I reckon that any explorer wessel will suffice.

Your link to known tourist becons is incorrect-you’ve repetd the dark wheel novella link

Felicity said in the Codex that TDW imitators die out quietly (or was it quickly?); the faction in SD is still in existence after some four years, therefore they are the real dark wheel, however as the mysterious woman said in Premonition TDW has wheels within wheels & she implied SD is the “outer rim” operating as a distraction (i.e. an obfuscation).

I emphasise her turn of phrase because it is clearly a link to the original TDW SD missions, and since Drew Wagar said categorically he didn’t know anything about Raxxla it seems to suggest that FD asked him to put this part of the storyline into Premonition. It may be that FD decided those missions were originally too simple as clues to Raxxla & disabled them temporarily (I believe we’ve had FD confirmation that they are still in-game) while they made the puzzle more complex; perhaps they are somehow chained with another puzzle which we haven’t found yet. Except they seem to have overdone it; the fact that nobody has been able to find those missions recently makes me think they are somehow further obfuscated.

Don’t ask me for the source of the FD statement about them still being in game; I despair of the history that seems to have been lost in the move to the new forum....to quote Sgt Schultz when I search for previous notable posts .. I can find nuthink, NUTHINK!!!

mea-culpa - now fixed. Glad someone was watching :)

Jorki’s invasive monitoring system is watching you all! 🧐
Even from 50+kly away!
( my clone, young Tyko, sends me by FTL carrier pigeon weekly newspaper clippings and recordings of the Voice of Galnet, though sometimes the poor birds seem to be running a bit low on Remlock air supply)

Anyone else spotted that the andromeda galaxy in the skybox is rather odd. Above pic shows the ED in game image on the left and the visible spectrum image from univ. of wiki. on the right to a similar scale. Pink??? and distinctly the wrong shape, and nowhere near big enough

They went to the trouble of including M110, so why is the rest of it completely wrong? I guess what I'm getting at is - poor workmanship or deliberate act?

I dutifully read two thirds of this thread (I skipped the middle part), but I read only about FD and support avoiding providing the answer to the question if TDW missions are still in the game. It can be that it was quoted in the part that I skipped though...

Edit: I perceive TDW as our Masons, whose members are members of many different civil, military, political and religious organizations and just like Masons, I expect that members of TDW are members of INRA, the Club, Pilots Federation, Aegis, the Sirius Corporation etc.

The introduction of TDW into the Codex and crossreferencing its entry with the entry about Raxxla clearly shows the importance of TDW. I don't think that it can be disputed and rejected.

fast response :)
OK, sure, I get the post, but if you search google for 'amateur image andromeda galaxy' - none are pink and all look a lot more convincing than from the game, so I'm not sure I buy the explanation..

Nothing else todo till the servers are back (what gardening??????)
Could be an amateur astrophoto in Hydrogen Alpha.
DB is supposedly keen on astronomy, perhaps it’s his signature? 😎

Though I do agree that it seems out of place compared to all the rest of the graphics
