Roadmap leaked??

There is not much more that i can tell you. There are just some references to station interiors and "turbolifts" (with "buttons" and "terminals"). The source is in the files from the April update. I won't be any more specific than that since last time i violated a subreddit rule by revealing how to find such information.

Because rampant speculation that builds misguided hype is normally shut down.
To issue a statement that says "the leak in question is a forgery and does not at all outline our plans for the future" is exactly the opposite of "give it credibility".

The most plausible reason why they'd keep silent about it is that it is indeed genuine, and they hope we'll eventually stop talking about it. Not the only explanation, I agree, but a plausible one.
I'm not going to deny your statements, and thus give them credibility ;)

I do wonder whats going on with the stuff we get in the beta files: we had spoken mission briefing videos, cut content (Thresher Maw megaship dredger) too.

The galaxy is so big that you would probably never see another players base unless you were specifically looking for it. Imagine having your own base with a huge hanger with all your ships in it, it would be amazing to walk around and admire your armada 🤤🤤🤤.
Fantastic gameplay... for 5 minutes? :(

That can be said about any gameplay loop in elite and 5 minutes is pretty generous, I’m here for the immersion 😜

That's gonna be amazing for all of a minute and a half. Then you'll never do it again.

Hardly worth the time and cost of development for such a shallow unengaging thing.

I'm here for the immersion too, but just imagine all those planets they could have opened up with the same effort that you can walk up to you ship... for which you had the debug camera anyway. :)

You probably won't enjoy being behind it for long.

You got it wrong - imagine iRacing fans complaining that they still can't walk up to their racecars from the parking lot.
Nah. I think the original quote is much closer. In ED we don't pilot our ships around courses, it is meant to be a living and breathing galaxy, not just a space ship game. Hence the reason why there is so much more to the game such as stations, planets etc. If you want a game about only space ships CQC/Arena is what you are looking for and I would also say that space legs would be a complete waste of time for CQC/Arena too unless they decide to add in a foot combat section.

But not for the main game, there is plenty of space for space legs and it could be very good too, depending on implemetation.

Come on RN - we've both been on this forum long enough to know that that's not how we do things around here!! Rampant speculation is de rigueur!

And on that subject - with all the creature animations FDev have been doing from their other games, I'll be intrigued to see what arrives for ED.

...Also imo Base Building in Elite is completely pointless because of instancing/modes, let alone making no sense what-so-ever in the context of the game.
I'm late to the discussion, so maybe this has been said already -- but No Man's Sky has base building that manages to be fun and useful in spite of that game also having modes and instancing.

That being said, I'm not sure what purpose a base might serve in Elite. There definitely would have to be new gameplay introduced to make it feel worthwhile.

What would be the issue with base building and instances/modes? Also why would they make no sense in the context of the game?
