Something caught my eye while jumping about in the bubble.. right side center. What does that look like?

From a Lore perspective it must be obscure enough to go undetected for a thousand years. It's hard to make something obvious if it has been the inspiration of explorers and conspiracy theorists for centuries. The Dark Wheel probably have fare more info than than we have, and even they haven't found it.
I'm not convinced that The Dark Wheel have a lot more information than we have, maybe just one or two small clues. The fact that they haven't found it in over a thousand years of exploration tells me that they are probably as much in the dark (sry for the pun) as we are.

The origin of their alleged toast might suggest Raxxla was found and lost, or at least obfuscated, but I would be very interested to find out if that is their real toast: it could just as easily be something to bring the best explorers and mystery hunters to their hidden station, where they can bring them up to speed on the current situation.

As yelboc has said, we first need to pin down the first line of the toast: 'To the jewel that burns on the brow of the mother of galaxies'. I think 'jewel that burns on the brow' is suggestive of a star system and prefacing it with 'To' suggests that we have to go there for ourselves. The big problem with interpreting this first part is the meaning of 'the mother of galaxies'. Ancient myths do not have the modern concept of galaxies, which dates from only the 20th Century (it was still a couple of decades after Hubble's discovery of the extragalactic nature of Andromeda before people stopped regularly referring to them as nebulae, or extragalactic nebulae). That suggests the term has a meaning from Elite Dangerous lore, i.e. who or what would the spacefarers and explorers consider to be 'the mother of galaxies'?

Raxxla is nothing but a myth, a legend, a lie, maybe not started by Fdev but they're certainly using it(codex entry) to keep you in the game especially us Raxxla hunters, as long as we're in game we might spend cash in the store. This is Fdev since when don't they want to show off content they've created, the reason we'll get no clues is because there are none to give. My biggest hint that it's bogus is that comment "It's in the game and we know where it is" Of course they know where it is they put it in the game, why not "It's in the game but we won't tell you where it is" Maybe Raxxla is the realisation that's its all a lie. Sorry to drone on

There is that possibility, yes. Then there is a possibility that they are waiting for 2020 big update to actually implement Raxxla as Braben envisioned it and slowly guide us to it. Either way, one can decide to get involved in this mystery or not, it's up to personal preference.

I hope you're right as I've spent a long time chasing wild geese following this theory and that idea without bearing fruit. Even tho i'm starting to doubt it's real a part of me won't allow me to stop the search. This is Fdev if it is real it'll be a massive anti climax or bugged to hell or worse still both

Hi Raxxla hunters. I have a question.

This stuff about eighth moon of an unnamed gas giant. Is there a log somewhere of gas giants with eight moons? Or any further information by which you can rule out an eighth moon? I ask purely because I've just found a hitherto unknown eight moon gas giant. And I'm probably not the guy you want studying it for clues because I don't know anything.

Something practical to work on.

Can we locate GAl 1-8 based on known info involving the in game planets from elite?

I've gone over Gal maps 1-4.

1 has around 31 instances. It's in an obvious area around lave.
2 has 1 system. Atius.

So far the other galaxies don't appear to have actual instances. But they do get odd search results. Ones I haven't gone over yet. (because of PC problems.)

Does anyone have any idea how to find these gal map grid locations on the modnern map. I bet they could be put into cubes.

As I haven't played the originals I wouldn't know this, but are there other landmarks besides system names usable to find the other system and identify them in ED? Assuming there is anything.

In a similar vein to you I've been thinking about to the way that the planet names were created in the original elite and a possible link with Raxxla in E : D.
As far as I understand each galaxy had a seed that fed in to an equation that gave the planet name, position and reference number.
Possibly there may be a seed is hidden somewhere in E : D that produces the name Raxxla, then gives it a planet number (e.g. 123). All of the planets numbered 123 in galaxies 1 to 8 could then be checked to see if they are in E : D.
A spreadsheet for the galaxy creation for oolite is here - this should also be the same as the one for BBC B elite: http://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/6/6a/Galaxies.zip
General description of the planets and links for further resources are here: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Oolite_planet_list
Hopefully some of these may help in your investigations - I draw pictures for a living so all the maths is getting a bit beyond me :D

The only other thing I can think of is the planet description. I understand that this was also generated from seed in the original Elite and may have been copied over to systems in E : D. It might be possible to scour the planet descriptions in something like EDSM for keywords that were used in the original elite - e.g. the edible poets and hoopy casinos.

You're being a bit defeatist. What about all the people looking for things like the Yeti, Atlantis, Noah's Ark, King Solomon's Mines, the Holy Grail, Bigfoot, the list goes on. They have been searching for decades, centuries even. And they are looking for all these things on ONE PLANET!
Don't count on finding Raxxla anytime soon. ;)

The Dark Wheel has somewhere, according to the Codex, a stealthed toroidal space station orbiting the eighth moon of a gas giant; they claim to have lost Raxxla in the past-pretty careless if you ask me. There’s nothing much to miss out on lore wise -it may/may not show up on fss/dss & possibly has to be found visually. So fly over to any eighth moon you come across, turn on night vision, have a look around, and tell us if you find it. 🙂

I checked a couple of systems out towards Beagle Point on DW2, needless to say I have nothing to report!

Some people have compiled a list of such systems from EDSM & are searching in the bubble. Of course it may not be in the bubble......or it may be....

I had a bit of a look round - it's the first eight moon gas giant I've found since becoming aware that eight moon gas giants were the thing - but didn't see anything. It's entirely possible, of course, that the big secret dark wheel base is fiendishly disguised as an utterly unremarkable ice moon 60000Ly from Sol.
