Allow use of pre 3.3 Advanced Discovery Scanner

Install one one one drive, disable that port. Install another on another drive. Enable both and change boot order as needed.
I still have to go to the BIOS before boot to switch. So sorry, you might as well use a boot loader. Cause you still have to reboot to change.

But it is WORSE than that. If the ADS were merely added back in, it renders the FSS useless.
False - the FSS amalgamates the process of ADS and near-body scanning thus simply adding the ADS would not actually make the FSS useless since they do not perform the same function, there is overlap but that is it.

There's been quite a lot of posts about the FSS lately.

I am sure that FD are currently looking at ways to placate people in this respect.

It would be silly for them to stick their heads in the sand and ignore the criticisms just, say, because they spent a lot of time developing it - and it has ultimately gone down like a lead balloon for a lot of players.

They are reasonable people and are probably mulling over this very issue right now.

Well, maybe not right now, but generally nowish.

You think? How come they didn't during the beta period, before the feature was formally launched?

You should have seen the scowl on Adam Woods face in the livestream when Will asked him about the fss.

I'll buy a ship skin if they fix this (type 7 tactical on my original account specifically).

71 pages on the thread. Countless email notifications and I still don’t understand why people are still stuck in the past about this.
I never had the ADS and I don’t miss it.

It is constant amazement to me, the number of people that say they are unhappy with this game but hang about on the forum telling everyone how bad it is.
If you don’t like the game stop giving frontier your money and play a game that you do like. Rebel galaxy is nice and I hear they have done good things with no mans sky.

If the game isn’t working for you, You have to let it go.
If I’m in a relationship where I feel the other party has changed for the worse, has spent my £20 investment unwisely, or doesn’t appear to care about my feelings then I end it, and move on.
I had no problems moving on from fallout 76 and that cost me £60.
If you are so unhappy then just go.

Ok these are your serious options open to you-
Suck it up
Become a majority shareholder or get a job at frontier working on elite.
Stop playing this video game.

I’m tired of this thread now. So what I’m going to do is unsubscribe from notifications and it will cease to be an issue to me.

That is irrelevant - there are people that do not miss the ADS per se but rather the gameplay that was facilitated by it that was fundamentally ruined by the introduction of the FSS given the removal of the ADS.

The key issue here is that FD breached their own mandate of building on the past by not catering appropriately for those that preferred the near-body scanning based method of body discovery. Further to this, pre-3.3 existing exploration data seems to have been either incomplete in being ported across or completely purged - I know that I have lost access to ALL the handed-in data that I had accumulated since I created my account. I have an Elite exploration rating (gained mostly through various exploration trips) and should have had at least some discoveries in the in-game encyclopaedia but instead there is only the reported stuff.

As a CMDR that has been playing the game for a number of years (since the Wings update) and paid a lot of real world money and time into it, I feel FD have breached the trust that some of the community have placed in them. Implementing something along the lines of the SMC proposal detailed earlier in this thread would help to address that.

Your reply is a complete and utter waste of your time... it adds no discernible value and if I were as disinterested in the topic I would simply turn off notification about it... seeya.

Apparently You did not read the first post in this thread. We are not saying the FSS is bad, quite the opposite. You don't miss the ADS because You never had the opportunity to use it and don't know it had it's advantages over FSS if You played certain way. It made exploration much more efficient for certain people.
As explained in my post, allow me to quote the crucial information:
Look, again. I don't dislike FSS. Let's start off with that. It's a great tool and the closest we've come to an actual "mechanic" in terms of exploration.
You sure can do anything You could back with ADS in place.
The thing is, again, as described many times, that for one there is additional time investment into doing something many don't find appealing / immersive / fun by force.

For those who like cherry picking and going hunting for ELWs FSS is a great tool. You can see what's in the system right from the get-go. Not to mention being able to scan it from the entry point.

Why would one like to have map revealed? Allow me to explain. Back in the pre 3.3 time certain players found out that they are dissatisfied with seeing the same configurations over and over again. See one glowing gas giants see them all. What else remained mouthwatering in the game? Configurations. Seeing bodies in extraordinary orbits. Maybe there are moon in close orbits with eachother, a star and gas giant at that? All close to to the main star. Maybe black hole orbited by white dwarf in "close" proximity. You never know what Stellar Forge comes up with. So those players went seeking just that. Jump into the system. Honk. Is the system worth staying in? No? On to the next one. All done while scooping and then charging the FSD. Covering far greater distances than they can do now. And as You may have guessed, seeking to find these systems is no easy feat. Since the genertion is to a degree random and there are 400 billion star systems to see. We'll never get to see it all. Now this group of players is forced to scan every system whether it's interesting or not. So as You may imagine too this cumulative time results in greater levels of dissatisfaction. Not everyone is keen on finding ELWs and being enthusiastic about being the first to do so. Everyone can play differently with different goals in mind.

Another group of players played by certain set of self imposed rules. People would go on tagging only the systems they found interesing using all or nothing method. Now to see what's in the system they are obliged to have it tagged(no, self destruct is not an option).

If you are so unhappy then just go.
It's "Suggestions" subsection. It's our right to post a suggestion. If You are unhappy with it however You can leave the forum.
Please see post explaining this further.

Also, regarding You not understanding what people are missing in the ADS:
1) it's already been explained countless times
2) You, Yourself stated that You never had it, maybe that's the case

This thread is targeted at players who are missing said feature, who played the game pre 3.3 more than new players.

A boot loader is the best option. This is just a different one.
What I meant was I wish I could run 2 operating systems side by side and choose which functions to use from whatever OS I needed at the moment. Mixing the FSS with the ADS is on the same order as running 2 OS's side by side. You'd need to relog to change it. Well, I guess you wouldn't have to, but having 2 different types of discovery scanner (notice I say Discovery Scanner as opposed to mapping or other specialized type of scanner) side by side just doesn't seem workable to me. Yeah, you could have 2 binding for it, but I would rather them work on adding a binding for SC Assist before they fix what isn't broken. And there are a whole lot of other things they could be working on besides this (and even my SCA binding request). Like atmospheric planet landings, space legs, etc.

You can run 2 operating systems side by side, actually, you can do that with 4 of them.
