Alternatively, FDev knew that there'd be a šŸ’©storm if they didn't put Raxxla and TDW into the Codex, and consequently put in a load of generalized fluff just to pad it out to a page. Bear in mind that every piece of information in the Raxxla codex is followed by the caveat 'yeah, but that's probably garbage', including Astrophel and Stella. Plus the TDW codex is followed up with "Looking for them is pointless anyway".

To me, it doesn't look like FDev are wanting us to find either Raxxla or the TDW - they seem quite content for us to carry on spinning our wheels indefinitely.

Edit:
The one time that FDev DID want us to find something quickly the clues required nothing more than a bit of Googling and a vague knowledge of DrewW's previous work. Even then, we got directly helped to make sure we got the right answer.

Yes, but they got hammered because they made that clue far too obvious.

Edit: but the point remains, the Raxxla mechanism has been in-game from the outset & the mechanism has got to be simple.

So I have lately frequented Vitto Orbital in Metztli system, as a visitor of the Tang Clan, taking some courses in feng shui flower arrangement, Shaolin shadow boxing and assassination missions in the Colonia region, when I realized these guys really are into some taoist cosmology, I Ching and divination from hexagrams. There must be a method... Can it be all so simple?

If I don't want to be found, I'm gonna have it saying " they are secretive but you can find them if you keep looking"

That is an octagon not a hexagon.
The symbols inside of the octagon are called hexagrams

Edit: actually, those are trigrams, but when you combine any of the two you get a hexagram. There are 64 possibilities formed from these 8 trigrams - the entire I Ching is written with these hexagrams, afaik

Ok. I've decided based on all the results of my research......

.....so inconclusion,
Fdev either sucks at making scavenger hunts or are the absolute best at it, depending on how you look at it.

We know they suck at it if we are to take every other puzzle they've made as an example. This is barely a scavenger hunt. I'd argue you have to know what you're looking for in order for something to be considered a scavenger hunt. Wild goose chase, at best.

Also wanted to bring this up again:

The origin of the "it's out there, and we know where it is" quote is from this thread:

(Read next post - i posted this link fully expecting it not to work, as the link was broken for at least 6 months post forum migration)

This thread was deleted during the last forum migration. If anyone can find an archival of the link here, it will reveal that the actual quote was
"It exists, we know where it is, and why it hasn't been found". I think this change is very significant, as this quote is our only real confirmation of Raxxla.

If anyone can find the thread in question, it would be a great service to this community. I wish i could provide proof of this claim, but i cannot find a snapshot of this link. I wish i would have taken a screen shot of the old forum, as this quote existed online until last summer (maybe fall? Dont exactly remember when forum migration occurred)

OH MY GOD, THE THREAD EXISTS AGAIN. HAVE AT IT FOLKS!!!!!

I feel super vindicated because DW told me i was mistaken when i questioned this in his lore thread.

Edit: @Macros Black, i suspect an edit of the OP is in order

Here's a screen shot Just in case:

ok, so the original DBOBE utterance was "It exists, we know where it is and we know why people haven't been able to find it..."

Does that give us any more information to help the Quest? I don’t think so. I’m sure FD have monitoring mechanisms built into Stellar Forge, they need them to assist bug fixing. I think DB would have been monitoring the area of Raxxla for player activity, and if anyone has passed it by DB would have known and could see why it wasn’t found. I remember MB saying something like ā€œthings are to be found off the eclipticā€; could be Raxxla is one of them. Since we don’t know what it is, where it is, or the required detection mechanism there could be many reasons why people haven’t been able to find it; could be in a permit-locked area, never visited on a friday, or your avatar needs green hair flying a ship named Hope to find it, or it’s a black hole & you need to rotate anticlockwise to enter it (I tried both directions at Altera’s Eye), maybe it’s 20kls or so above/below the ecliptic.....

In my opinion, the actual quote has much less implication that Raxxla exists as something discoverable in game, but no matter. As this is the only real confirmation that Raxxla does indeed exist, i think accuracy is very important.

Edit: it's also quite likely that DW did not quite get the exact phrasing of DB's statement here. In fact, when i asked him about it, DW said the only thing changed from the original quote was the added "(FD)" in "we (FD) know where it is". This shows that our only confirmation has been supplied by rather unreliable testimony, which in itself is pretty significant.

It's not the only confirmation. DB has said it exist in other interviews. MB went as far as saying it's in the Milky Way. Raxxla's existence in the game has been confirmed several times. The codex quote "Raxxla is a definite place and that it holds a mystical secret." probably describes it best.

We have never had confirmation that Raxxla is:
  • Not permit locked.
  • Scannable
  • Reachable with current equipment
  • Recognizable when found

That would have been nice to know.
