Hello everyone,

In a similar fashion to our Lavecon 2019 reveals, we wanted to give all of you who couldn't join us at our Gamescom Frontier Community Meet a rundown of all the details that just dropped... or should we say hauled in here by the aid of... a Fleet Carrier!

December Update - The FLEET CARRIER Update

The news you've been waiting for... Fleet Carriers.

Take a peek below at the initial details about Fleet Carriers, coming as the December Update.

Ownership
  • Purchasable with a large amount of credits.
  • One Fleet Carrier per Commander. Available for base game and Horizons players.

Capacity
  • Fleet Carriers have a total of 16 Landing Pads, composed of:
    • 8 Large
    • 4 Medium
    • 4 Small
  • Set permissions to allow others to dock at your Fleet Carrier.

Operations
  • All Fleet Carriers feature rearm, refuel and repair services.
  • Commanders can choose a number of loadouts for their Fleet Carrier, governing services/module and ship availability to support a number of different activities, such as:
    • Bounty Hunter
    • Mercenary
    • Pirate
    • Trader
    • Smuggler
    • Miner
    • Explorer
    • Search and Rescue

Travel
  • 500 LY jump range (per jump)
  • Schedule jumps from the Galaxy Map when you want and from wherever you are in the galaxy.
  • Commanders require a unique resource to fuel the Fleet Carrier in order for it to jump.

We'll be delving deeper into Fleet Carriers and all they can do in upcoming livestreams and forum posts later this year!

September Update

For those of you who have been stranded out in the black and somehow missed it, here's also a super-duper QUICK recap of the September Update.
  • This year's updates are focused on improving the starter experience for new commanders. We're adding a fully-voiced, in-game, in-ship tutorial, covering the basics of space flight, combat, traveling and scanning. Also, this experience is available in all of our in-game supported languages! Speaking of you veterans, you'll be able to access this from your right-hand panel at any time so you won't even need to wipe your save!
  • In addition, we'll be reworking and rebranding what some of you might know as Frontier Points, introducing them as Arx. These Arx will be purchasable and used to buy Game Extras such as Paint Jobs, Ship Kits, Bobbleheads and more. What's great about Arx is that you will be able to earn them in-game by... simply playing the game!
The September Update will be launched 18 September for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!

Fly safe, Commanders!
I hope that you can charge people to land on your carrier either with credits or materials to jump.

Just came back from a 570 million trip into the past.... saw the trailer and had palpitations of my heart, a stiffing deep within me and an excited YES arm pump. You guys are doing good on this one. Want to read up on this to see if I can use my trader, miner and explorer on the same ship or are they going to be a pick and choose for the moment. Where is my blood pressure cuff... I feel faint from this excitement.

A new feature coming to the game that all players new and old can work towards I just hope it wont take me two years to get one. I love playing this game but it seems like its going to take a lot of work to try and have one I truly wish I could play 10 hrs a day but real life is more important.

Greetings Commanders,

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread, it is really exciting for us to see the hype around Fleet Carriers.
I know there are a lot of burning questions, and I want to let you know that we are going through these and putting together a response. This might take a bit of time, but we hope to get you some answers by next week.

Being told I don't have to be part of a squadron to own a carrier is the single best bit of news I've heard about the game for a long time and despite my advancing years I've become like a small child and I just can't wait

Lets see.

We have the Known Knowns, the stuff we know about fleet carriers and that is very little
We have the Known Unknowns, the stuff we know that we don't know and that is HUGE
We have the Unknown Unknowns - the stuff FD will put into FC that will make players go HUH?

The teaser for Fleet Carriers is pretty exciting but until we have more info all it means is we have thousands of posts of pure speculation. Here is hoping that FD even comes close to realizing 1/4 of what players expect. I will wait for more information until I form any expectations.

special fuel ????

my fan-boy night time wee wee dreams are filled with fuel scooping around the lighting filled gas towers in a gas giant......happy dreamsss

Need to wait for info on this, can they take damage for a start. For me the personal ownership does not make sense - maybe just me....
As an explorer it makes sense to me to have my own personal carrier, nothing worse than being out in the black and suddenly having an urge to go mining or wanting to partake in a bit of fisty cuffs now I can have a number of different ships at my disposal instantly, no transfer fees or waiting around. I have every ship in game but most have never left Shin Dhez now they'll get an airing

Had a bit more time to absorb what info there is, now see where they are coming from - it will be interesting to see how this pans out

Loads of solo players shouldn't be excluded and I suggest fdev have the stats to show this.
Personally seems it should be a squadron thing but what if you have a few hundred in your Sqn?
Probably better to give everyone the same game potential than alienating folk.

A few questions. If the carriers have repair, refuel and restock eventually those reserves would run out so where or how would we replenish stocks? and where does the money earned from these services go? and would I have to pay for those services on my own carrier? As well as friends given permission can NPC's dock? Can i fill it with as many of my own ships as i can? If not then its not much of a FLEET carrier
