The Star Citizen Thread V10

Its frankly mental. If you have a giant interconnected game you test the interconnectivity first. The guys not a crook but a total spoon. But the spoon is promised and has five variants.
Had to laugh at the 'total spoon' comment!

Worryingly though, if I remember the Matrix (and the excellent Dog Soldiers), there is no spoon....?

Exactly. If SC was a matter of CIG not pushing out content like promised ships fast enough, then I'd be grumbly but accept that situation. Whats concerning is we have ships coming out or promised with no underpinning gameplay for them even made. Its like building a house from the roof down hoping it will work.

Finally somebody who understands what's really happening.
Funny thing: if you had tried to actually engage with the thread rather than start out broadly insulting everyone, you would have noticed that there is no “finally” about it. Everyone already understands what's really happening — you're just late to the party.

This is why you really shouldn't use the citizen playbook when approaching new fora: because it is fundamentally delusional about the state of affairs outside the CIG-loyalist echo chamber. It will inherently render any statement or point you're trying to make uninformed, and people will move in to adjust all that misinformation. The more spiteful your opening salvo is, the more opposition and derision you will get in return.

Right now even monster desktop set-ups truggle with Star Citizen. Not as heavily as it used to be the case last year but its still far away from being able to run on consoles. And we are not talking about "can" but "being able to compete with current day games" on the market. How far will CIG have to turn down the visuals in order to enable SC to run on consoles you think? More importingly, consoles offering a "get into the action quick" guarantee for almost all the titles...how well would a game like Star Citizen be perceived where you waste hours on nothing but running around and reaching any point of interest?

While the console market is massive I doubt very much that Star Citizen will be able to tap into it in any meaningful way. Certainly not enough to justify the port effort to even make such a thing possible in the first place.

The whisperings from The Agent suggest a pitch for SQ42 on console at launch.

Given they've doubtless got harder Calder schedules & payback clauses worrying at them now I could certainly see them going for it.

I think Sean Murray and the whole of HG deserves huge respect. Whatever the rights or wrongs of the release furore, they have worked hard, delivering real added value to the game, making it something way more than many would have imagineered even in their wildest dreams.
yes, at least hello games did release a game, and continuing to add more content to the game, even if sean murray himself contracted crobber disease at that time leading the original release of NMS (promising everything, delivering little to nothing), and they didn't rake in hundreds of millions of dollars by unethical business practices before releasing the game.

Take EA, do I dislike EA? hell yeah, but I grew up with EA games in the 90s where they were at least acceptable game developer and publisher back then when the industry was relatively still in infancy, only after decades later that they became what EA is today, however most importantly in the context of star citizen, EA doesn't claim to be the holy savior of gaming, proceed to beg for donation from gamers and later using dubious business practices to gain more money by selling JPEGs, promising to deliver 2 games that are claimed to have all kind of never been done before game development techniques and technologies, also claim the game to have never been done before contents all while eventually failing to deliver any after 8 years.

how can I not have more respect to EA than CIG?

Hmmm possible that all the current remaining backers will go out and purchase multiple console SC games at full prize in order to "support" the development :) So its a bit of money left if they want to go after that too

MS & Sony have become more lenient recently. I can easily see Sq42 being allowed on Xbox's Game Preview Program for example.

How many backers will have meltdowns over it is the bigger question.

Oh if that comes to pass I am sure the narrative would do a 180: we always knew this would happen etc.

“I am a PC game” aside, CR left it quite open ended and vague when asked. The issue as always would be the compromises and downgrades in PC required to make consoles happen.

Doubly funny since at this stage, they're using an engine purposefully designed to work on last- and second-to-last-gen consoles, sporting visuals and (in particular) animations that were surpassed by last-gen marquee console titles. And at this time, the only thing they have to coddle the “PC master race” ego is the visual presentation — the rest of the bits that would paint it as a PC-only game (eg the control scheme) are simply a result of deliberatly bad design rather than any kind of actual hardware limitations.

That's really the only thing Chris has ever been right about: after three years, it gets stale — indeed, had the game actually come out in 2014 after that three-year period, it would have been impressive and put the 8th-gen launch titles to shame. But then chrismanagement happened, and here we are…

I don't gently caressing care how deluded people like you who still support this scam think about my response to that post, I have more respect for things like Daikatana, Sim City 2013, Peter Molyneux, Sean Murray, Electronic Arts, Activision, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Rockstar, Konami, and literally all those other gaming companies and entities that have been perceived as greedy evil bad guys by the whole gaming community, all of them combined, and let me just add some more, those greedy small-medium indie developers that were sold out to Epic Store and betrayed their fanbase/KS backers/supporters, Epic games themselves, and all other ole developers and publishers that you can possibly know or heard about, you name it.

all of them combined are better than CIG and the likes of you.

oh wait, let's throw Intel, Nvidia, Google, Facebook, and all other greedy evil tech companies in the mix as well, combine all of them and they are all still better than star citizen period.

is my mouth foaming and am I having a seizure typing this post? I do not gently caressing care. Fact still remain the same, 8 years, 300 millions dollars, questionable unethical practices married with accompanying innumerable continual annual promises to bait people with more sales, and yet zero game delivered with practically huge majority of the promises remain unfulfilled all while the top people responsible for the scam practically have been personally enriched year by year.
You're making it personal now my friend, taking your rather fanatical views on Ci¬G and tarring ordinary folks like myself and others with a tainted brush due to those skewed views is bordering on abusive...certainly offensive..which seems to be your intent rather than any form of discussion.

Go sit yourself down and have something with less caffeine before hitting that old keyboard warrior button...this isn't SA. I'm no Ci¬G fanboi in the first instance... which if you had taken time to actually read some of my posts before lining up your next torrent of abuse...you might have noticed.

I fly imaginary pixel spaceships matey boy...nothing more, the politics of Ci¬G's financials, it's business practises and rabid commentary on either side of the fence I leave to more excitable folks like you.

Gentlemen, you cannot fight in here! This is the War Room!

Now, I'm suffering all the way through the hour long 890 Jump video that came out to see if there are any juicy goodies. So far it's all a bit meh. Lots of pointless areas for RP purposes, much shiny, no concept of inertial effects, I can't see what someone with an 890 would actually do with it.

Awww - happy birthday Disco Landrover!

It's almost like they have 'an evil publisher' breathing down their neck. Not that Chris would ever accept a publisher who might dilute the fantasy dream vision.

My money is on him eventually 'stepping away' from the project, becoming a consultant in a manner that in no way echoes the Microsoft takeover of Digital Anvil...

My big crystal balls see all!

You let me down. :(

Its a $675 mine layer.
