I hesitate to look for a new ship, because of the need to engineer
There is plenty of money for every ship, but fitting it properly is an obstacle.

Don't get on with any of the Alliance ships. All bought - all sold.Because the all have there short comings.
I love the looks off the crusader but beside combat there is nothing much you can do whit it do to restricted slots...
Mine's called Ermintrude.I always knew the T9 would be a cow to pilot (and it is lol) but good to know I made a logical decision.
I like the Cobra. Don't mind the offset seat, but try to dock a SRV when it's parked on rough ground . . .Cobra III, its the iconic Elite ship and looks great on paper, but I just don't like the off-centre pilots chair.
Bought a Clipper when anyone could buy one during the celebrations following the imperial succession. Beautiful ship - snazzy flight deck - fastest acceleration (at the time) - couldn't find a use for it and it had to go when I was short of cash (those were the days).Clipper. I'd seen many posts about how good it was, how fast, etc. I ground my way to Baron, bought one and wasn't overly impressed. I figured it would be better with some engineering, so off I went on the grand engineers tour and it was still cr*p. I can't say exactly why, but I just couldn't get on with it, so it was sold.
I dont really care for it in a car either, I just cant readily change what car Im driving on a whim when it annoys me.I actually really like the offset seat position in the Cobra (and Python which I consider the medium Cobra).
I do wonder though, how do you off centre hating people manage to drive your car? Or is everyone rocking a McLaren F1?
OT, the Mamba is a ship I would like to like, but each time I take one for a test drive (A rated but not engineered, which is likely the issue) I can't enjoy the flight model. It seems to fly more like a Lakon ship as opposed to what its looks indicate.... some day I might give it a proper chance though and G5 it, in the hope that my impressions change.
Just wait until spacelegs 2020 introduces offset camera positions by accident.I dont really care for it in a car either, I just cant readily change what car Im driving on a whim when it annoys me.
Upside though, I can walk.

Oh hey its a Federal Corvette with wheels, I am okay with this. This is the car you're looking for.

Nice topic - some great replies too!
I'm odd that I loved flying the T10, it just felt like a huge, heavy ship and forced the 'think 5 seconds ahead' mentality to kick in, so have to say it "did what it says on the tin" there. (Yes, in VR the cockpit is like being in a Cathedral too...)
The Cutter, apart from its huge cargo capacity, I can't get to like flying as its lines lull you into a false sense of security about its agility
Just bought a vette, thought "here goes another Space Cow" and was totally wrong - it is almost like flying a medium ship, I think I may like this one a lot!
Cobra III, FDL, Python, yes - offset seating - I like all 3 for their own foibles (although the Python is boring, excellent - but boring) and could fly the FDL all day, every day as I really like that cockpit in VR too...
Bang on about the T-9. Slow, hard work, feels really heavy, turns like a supertanker. Thanks, it is nice to have a thread that isn't a whinge fest lol
Don't get me wrong, although I haven't been complimentary about my newly purchased T-9 I kind of expected it to handle like it does, it is just up to me to get use to it.
Got to agree with you, the Python is boring but oh so practicable and is the best at what it does. I have always referred to my Python as my work truck, great at what it does but not something I would drive for fun on the weekends.
I don't mind the FdL but have to admit I have fallen heavily for the Mamba. I love the view, and most importantly I love the hardpoint layout, everything being on the top side suits the way I fly. It use to frustrate me with the FdL that sometimes I couldn't bear onto a target because of the hardpoint placements, haven't found the problem reoccurring with the Mamba.
Ive never been bothered with the view of any non combat ship in ghis game cause 3rd person camera exists. Heck I can do my core mining entirely without leaving the external camera mode. The 'conda was my end game(ish) objective. Can haul, explore and fight. But I HATE the cockpit with a passion.
I think the mistake I made was exploring in an AspX with its incredible views for so long before I jumped in to the Conda. Didn't even make it the 3 or 4 jumps to Farseer before I dumped it for a Python. (Still not a great view but I'll take it)
Agree, Vette handles like big Vulture, both in realspace and supercruise very good handling.Nice topic - some great replies too!

Cobra? I'd gank a hundred noobs in Deciat for a centered seat in the FdL. Or pay money. But make it happen!

Ohh, Yeah I feel that. That made me cringe just imagining it. Good example! It's not so much the view. It's the huge wasted space. It like driving a car from the back seat.
This x100. I have the same issue. I spent so much time out in the black in my Asp that I had trouble adjusting to my other ships. Even my DbX that I do sightseeing missions with ends up getting parked. I am preparing for my first trip to Colonia and was going to take the DbX because of its range but my Asp is only about 8Ly behind it and is unarmed but has a huge fuel scoop. I then decided to buy a Krait Mk2 and kit it out for the journey but I keep imagining myself back in the Asp. I don't want to make that trip unarmed so I may end up with some pew pews on my AspX.The 'conda was my end game(ish) objective. Can haul, explore and fight. But I HATE the cockpit with a passion.
