ANNOUNCEMENT Community Update (22/10)

I disagree. Delays, changing plans, etc. is pretty normal in development. If people ask for a more open roadmap they need to stop whining whenever something changes.
Meanwhile, FDEV released something like 15-20 major updates and only three of them have been delayed. If anything, they aren't delaying things often enough, which results in the buggy updates we don't like.

The fiasco of Focussed Feedback and the discussed topics has put a black mark on all of this, along with not improving features like Powerplay, CQC, multicrew while cutting back on lore at the same time. FD has changed direction about three times appears to be wrapped around the development of other titles. Its chaotic.

* If people ask for a more open roadmap*

The roadmap we have is bare bones at best, with very little disclosed until a month way from release. All a lot of people ask for is stuff thats announced two years ago is delivered in a reasonable timeframe and to a decent quality.

I don't really like that word, but the "normal" thing of a lifetime has been to buy a single game ... anyway (y)(y)😂😂

Elite isn't a normal game. 🤷‍♀️

For a start, it's the only online game I play. Most games allow you to have several save files. Elite: Dangerous doesn't. They reneged on their KS promise of DRM-free offline mode a week before the release in November 2014.

So, when there's a sale on (and there's usually a few a year) I sometimes pick up an extra copy. Pretty sure loads of other players do the same.

So I've noticed, that is assuming you're the same 'Alien' who used to have a reversible avatar, and who led a number of vitriolic personal attacks on me in multiple threads on this forum, most memorably perhaps when I complained about the introduction of gimballed weapons being against the spirit of the game? And so. We meet again.
I am ashamed to say, that yes, I am that person and I can only apologise.

See, we can't even make peace with the current, bare bones roadmap. Imagine what would happen if they gave us more details and that stuff actually changed. Pitchforks!
IIRC you were a vocal supporter of the petition. Did you think listening to your demands wouldn't result in delays of the other stuff?

I've noticed lately that FD have been announcing release dates for patches weeks in advance. So yeah, they should "delay" them if they are buggy, but IMO they shouldn't paint themselves into a corner like that in the first place. It's just asking for trouble. Just give a broad release (Q4 2019 for example) time frame, and release it When. It. Is. Done. Maybe announce it a day or two beforehand, so people can make appropriate plans with their Cmdr if they need to, but otherwise...
Looking forward to your support next time someone asks for more info. Be prepared to get insulted.

So you're giving me the reason, elite players are not "normal" players 😂😂 (Include myself ,I’m inside now too, but with half head out too, so I don’t lose my mind in a video game ).

My reflection on all this is simple and any dramatic, this is not how things are done, one year you say you have some plans, the year comes, and you get something that was not on the road or they did not say it, and that same thing and its consequences ,almost breaks the play(not mine) and trash the other plans, nobody seems to care about that done, no man like that not.

But if you want something concrete, okay, I am bothered by the delay of FC, after 1 year playing was a rather curious incentive and content, and 6 months seems too much
and it seems an excuse to take pressure off, although I understand them.

Why do we fight each other???

Summarizing this situation,

1) FDev launched ARX with a lot of CRITICAL BUGS.
2) Some CMDRs worried about that. And they officially requested to fix bugs and to update ED correcltly.
3) FDev used CMDRs's requesting(for stabilizing) as an excuse for delaying Fleet Carrerier.

It just show FDev hadn't think that ED had a lot of problem, even though CMDRs sent a lot of issues to FDev by issue tracker.
It just show FDev had no willing to put more resource, despite of CMDRs sent a lot of issues to FDev by issue tracker.
And few days ago FDev just announced that they will do procrastinated-jobs instead of promised-jobs.
I think that FDev did wrong jobs and FDev do wrong decision.

FDev converted thier old-mistake to CMDR's binary decision between 'Stabilizing' and 'New Content', and now CMDRs fight each other.

I seek forgiveness to CMDRs, who I criticized, who just wanted stabilizing game.

Where exactly is stated that Elite: Dangerous is a SIMULATOR!!! Elite: Dangerous is a SciFi-Spaceship-Game. It never claimed to be a "simulator".
Why? A simulation is ALWAYS based upon already existing, real-world, data. Otherwise it's simply not a simulator but a speculation.

But hey...I'm curious: Could I get your velocity-sheet of FTL-Drives or the MJ-Output of a Prismatic Shield Device? The Mega-Newtons that a Plasma-Slug impacts upon a static object, like a spaceship?

THIS is a SIMULATOR!!!

where? on the psn store, on the game description (oficial) and pretty much everyone says its a simulator you are the first person thats telling me its not tbh!

The bugs hurt the game more than the absence of fleet carriers. There's only so many cards you can stack before you realise that you've built a house of cards, and it's better to sort the foundations and leaks out before you go adding more rooms. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah they made a plan, but plans change. The September patch proved that the game code just can't cope with anything else being added without breaking other things, so you need to take a step back & start refactoring and fixing that lot. It'll ultimately help fleet carriers (& presumably the 'new era') so I'm 100% cool with the change of direction. It's long overdue IMO.

All of that is correct, but I regret that the decision that led to correct errors derived from a stup+d button, that was incomprehensible in all aspects ,
on the part of players and FDev

The current roadmap is just that- current. It does not even take into account old features that have been ignored. The last roadmap I saw had five big blobs and a sentence for each. If we were talking the roadmaps the Star Citizen folks pop out then I'd agree.

My view? Yes FD had to fix things and its a good move- but, as a result of ED being mismanaged with its Brookes / Sandro / current era chopping and changing EDs direction, quality assurance has not kept up with the updated features which themselves have been ignored for even more new features which themselves are half baked- this ignores huge balancing issues that break parts of the game that persist.

I really do hope FD use this time to seriously knuckle down, because they have overreached themselves since probably 1.3. But, is it too late? FD could have done the slow and steady to begin with, and lock in what we expect of them early on with new features seeing quality, considered updates at each point release afterwards.

My beef is not with the need for bug fixing- my annoyance is that it was required in such a dramatic way that has stalled the games forward momentum.

It would make sense if last year they hadn't said the same, no matter how much the plans change, they were going to do it this year(fix little bugs) ,but they worked on something else that none of you asked for, I say again that this is not the way to interact with your players, because FC sounds like a hoax.

LOL... I don't think it's a 'hoax', but they're trying to please everyone and end up pleasing almost nobody. ;)

I guess if there hadn't been the LEP threadnaught they might have been more focused on the bug fixing and polish rather than the shiny things (for the sake of shiny), but that's just speculation on my part...
