Please slow down the time speed of the game.

Totally agreed. It's absolutley annoying to permanantly pause the game while building or sorting animals out, because some grow up so fast and then die felt in 5 Minutes. Bonding with animals is not possible. When not paused its stress, because anmimals die, at the same time the Power or Waterfilters get broken, animals grow up an immediatly fight etc. Please Frontier, slow it down!

I don't see the problem with pausing the game - I turn the computer off every night, I watch Iplayer I answer email I pause the game all the time. I have never felt the need to order a pizza and stay on line to see how my tigers are getting on. To pause the game and sort stuff out or build things seems perfectly normal behaviour to me

That's different than what people are describing in this thread, though, is it not?

No, it's not gamebreaking to pause the game, when I feel like taking a break, answer the door or order pizza, but it is immersion breaking when I'm forced to pause the game in ordert to not be overrun with messages about babies growing up, being born or animals having died, currently almost starving, having escaped their habitat or whatnot.
I played a lot of Prison Architect and yes, there were situations where you were busy planning a new cell block while your inmates suddenly became busy killing a snitch you did not know you had. But overall it is easily possible to deal with situations as the game still progresses, research is happening and things are getting built. I normally pause the game if I have to do something off screen (e.g. answer a chat message or email, to use your examples again.)

Planet Zoo is different, though. Honestly, I just feel like the balancing is off in this game. It never was an issue in PlanCo that time flies and visitors are in the park at all hours of the day. Yes, your rides were slowly turning old and weren't as hip and cool anymore, but I was happily building things while my guests were enjoying the park. Planet Zoo, with the animals having an expiration date, growing up and mating with their siblings if you're not careful, is a whole different beast, though. I'm not pausing the game because I do something outside the game I am pausing while doing stuff IN the game because otherwise the Zoo would get out of hand in no time. It just feels off and more stressful than I care for.

Now, obviously. Not EVERYONE feels, that it is too fast. But there are two faster speeds (2x and 5x normal speed, I believe?) So if they slow it down, you can still play at a faster pace. But all those, who feel, it is too fast as it is, have no option to slow things down.

Hang on so all these messages are overwhelming you forcing you pause the game? Was it not us Beta testers who asked for those messages so are we not responsible for causing the problem that is causing the problem?

What I also find very annoying (probably caused by the fast paced time) is that I put 2 animals in habitat and two minutes later they already have cubs... like... they should at least spend some time getting used to each other. It is kind of weird if I place 2 peafowls and minute later it says the animal is pregnant.

Animals are not humans, that want more time with each other before mating.

Certain animals only meet when they want to mate, let's say "nature's calling", and they don't engage into fun stuff for weeks/months before doing the deed.

That is not what I meant... As I said it is weird how fast they are already pregnant by the time you simply place them there. You dont need to go all “you dont understand animals” on me. It is just immersion thing pointing to the fast time issue.

Sigh... fine if you need it in a gameplay way: the game mechanism should prevent newly introduced animals from breeding for ar least some time, so it does not feel so weird as placing them down and having them pregnat few seconds later.

If you feel that is the case, and don't want to have them breed so soon, why not use birth control?

You do understand, that the messages are not the problem, but the fact, that there are 30 things happening at once, because 2 minutes are like 1.5 months in the game? And it was also 'us beta testers' that asked for a slower pace. Of course not ALL the beta testers, but a big number of them. I really get that you are totally fine with the pace. Good for you. Enjoy it. I'm really glad you are able to. But a lot of people feel different about it.

And no, I am quite happy about the messages that inform us of more than the death of an animal and the birth after the fact, the issue at hand is and has always been the extremely fast pace of the game and things happening within seconds because of this fast pace. So please don't try to make it about something it is not or sidetrack from the actual topic of this thread which is people asking for an option to slow down the gameplay.

one of the reasons given for wanting a slower pace is reacting to messages -messages we asked for

I don't see the issue with pausing the game anyway -I don't see it is a deal breaker as we pause the game all the time.

I have speeded up the game - generally its when I have the game running well - if you are having to interact all the time with the zoo then perhaps the zoo isn't well set up? I,m not sidetracking - its a different opinion - I am one of the "silent majority" who is less than silent who are wondering why there is all the noise being made about this and putting the another point.

if the question is "is time to fast" you get two answers yes and no

if you have answered no why would you say anything therefore its a bad question - the only responses will be yes because if no there is nothing to shout about so you will get lot saying slow it down but another group staying quiet because they are happy

I think it's not a critique on the notifications itself... you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's meant that there is so much going on what needs adjustments, correction and care what can ruin your zoo if you don't look at it in paused mode. It's not easy to decribe how to feel about this topic and it's not easy to do this in english for everyone, please don't forget this. Because Amancham is on the point to be "pro slower time" that's the only way to understand this post. 😉

For others which don't understand our wish because they are happy like it is: we want more options, so you still could use this mode which is in the game already - more options just means that you don't play on arrow one to have this timepassing, you would play on arrow 3 and would still be happy with it... but we need slower options on arrow one and two. I don't understand the arguing against it, if Frontier decides to put 5 arrows in (what would be nice) your current speeds will still be there to use.

But WE have no chance at this stage to enjoy slower right now and that's the problem here and the reason why we ask for it.

My games already on year 8 and I’ve barely gotten anywhere. Slowing down time will fix or at least help with multiple things including the overall pace. (Been on speed 1 the whole time as well)

Animals are having lots of babies but there really not having a lot of babies, there having a normal amount but time is just going by too fast so it seems that way. This leads to exhibits filling faster than you can even notice because you’re busy trying to build your zoo and before you know it 8 years past by and your lion exhibit is quite full and needs expanded, or your giraffe, zebra and ostrich zoo is expanding and I need more zookeepers and staff buildings because there starving.

I want to be able to build my zoo while the zoo is growing, but with the speed of the game everything grows too fast and it becomes hard to micro manage while you are trying to do other things. Especially with the more exhibits you have.

I believe with the stats of animals and being able to release animals that “breeding” and conservation was partly a main focus on this game, this is hard to achieve with the speed of the game. I can’t really keep track of what’s going on with each exhibit with the current speed of the game (especially when I’m still trying to expand my “breeding” conservation). This needs a more of a controlled situation, you need to keep an eye on who’s breeding with who and what the cub stats are and if cubs need sold/released once they grow and if you need to buy a new stud etc. This is extremely difficult because while you’re off expanding your zoo or dealing with zookeeper issues your cubs with have already grown and had more cubs.

Edit: Forgot to mention the part about animals dying of old age before you can even sit back and watch them
Edit 2: Maybe this would also help the keeper issues, perhaps things are happening too fast for them to keep up with as well

Please slow down the game time, it is simply too fast, it makes it hard to keep up. If there are people who somehow enjoy this pace of the game they can play on speed 3
