Obsidian praising SC planet tech v4? Interesting times.
Might be a bit early... :/

To be fair, even the Avocado version of the blizzard planet is more weather than we have in Elite at the moment.
Once 3.8 goes to PTU first wave, I'm sure we'll see videos that better reflect the graphics than some leaked and blurry Evocati footage. If I can praise Ci¬G devs for anything, the planetary tech is stunning...even in the current version. Once 3.8 is opened up to PTU in the coming weeks, I'll certainly post some footage...IMO, The magic Germans certainly done good as they continue to improve the tech which remains as one of Star Citizens best features.Might be a bit early... :/

I'd agree with you wholeheartedly on ArcCorps since I've never really seen the purpose of it... bar Chris Roberts dreamcrafting and plagiarizing iconic movie locations and themes into his game. ArcCorps is still a lagfest on PC's way more capable than my average rig. That's partly due to the networking since it's way worse when it's busy with players and may improve a bit with the initial version of SSOCS, we'll see..but at the moment, I have little need or desire to visit it that often apart from the recently ended Expo.Sure it may well look great come release on a solid rig (and I do like those above locations). I'm just saying maybe we should wait until that point before lauding it though?
CIG does have form for glitzy promos that haven't quite flowered in the live build.
(Not Citcon, but here's a fun recent example of an ATV promo that has fallen short seemingly)

We could probably argue over whether ArcCorp really matches the glamour of the Citcon reveal, for example. For me it's a nah, both from space and on the surface. But at least that's a thing, and we could discuss its current merits![]()

I can see why some players love the ArcCorps visuals...but an entire city planet with the reality and artificial limitation that you can only visit or explore a few square yards of? Pointless. Beneath the glitzy visuals that assault your immediate sight lines from the gated in transit routes and corridors, there's a lot of unfinished square, untextured boxes and nothing more.
What a lovely little slip:Latest Inside SC...not watched it yet but thought I'd post the link anyway. It features our friendly SC dev, Ben Parry...shows a bit of what he's been up to over the fence
Loved it Ben
Straight to looking for the conspiracy theories...love itWhat a lovely little slip:

Also gotta love how he keeps using "kinda", everywhere. Though to be fair, he's just a nervous dev, he's not an experienced snake oil seller like Jared.
Anyone who thinks ObsidianAnt hasn't praised Star Citizen's tech really needs to get themselves out of 2013 - he's been making videos on it for as long as Elite. It's unfortunate that not everyone is capable of doing research like him, even if it's as basic as seeing what videos he's doneObsidian praising SC planet tech v4? Interesting times.

His video is spot on. This is one of the reasons I prefer star citizen over elite dangerous. While elite offers many advantages it does not Peak my exploration mind.
With star citizen I feel like I’m living in a universe that is Interactive. Even with less planets, I have no problem supporting the development of star citizen.
