Lol, no point.

2 year redditor account claiming to be a fuel rat, and does not seem to have posted at all in the elite surebddit (unless I missed it).
Never heard of him either...unless like quite a few supposed Elite players who slaver on about SC being the second coming of the Lord Roberts...he has a different handle in Elite

I'll never defend Ci¬G's marketing or business model and can't recall that I ever have, but as for the devs and what they produce under ridiculous managerial drought...I like to think I give those devs credit where credit is due and try to stick to that as much as possible. As a backer, I appreciate the things the devs get right and remain highly critical of the things they do wrong...but the wrong things tend to be managerial or marketing related 90% of the time and as such, certainly doesn't need my voice adding to the endless taunts or criticisms on here...
And here is my second most heavy concern: with such management, I can't help but think about the neverending crunch mode poor devs are constantly on. Something plaguing the industry to try to keep deadlines, when for CIG deadlines and roadmaps are intangible concepts and it's just to keep their words of releasing a new half broken patch. I feel for them.

There's a lot of very disgruntled backers, more than a few of of them concierge who are quite rightly raging at the moment and letting it be known...once again down to Ci¬G overhyping and under producing then hitting the bad news of the roadmap carnage right as they break for the holiday season.

Good game, Ci¬G.
Fret not, as it'll just take some new shinies to spend their money on and they'll absolve Chris once again.
Not that it's something new: reminds me of the hilarious Boycott COD event :)

Aye, all the whining and grumping will all be forgotten and Ci¬G forgiven as soon as a new flyable shiny thing appears on the store page...been that way from the start too..and Ci¬G know it.

Yeah that seems really fake. It seems like a whole load of projection if anything. Headline should read "Bunch of marks prove why they are a bunch of marks!"

I see there are a bunch of people claiming Elite would not have been funded if not for CR's intervention... :D

I mean, pretty sure there are actual honest rants from ED players in the SC sub. But this one does not seem like one of those.

There are of course...but the majority of veteran Elite players in SC only mention Elite if it's brought up in conversation and most of what I've experienced has been a shared recollection and nostalgia rather than that kind of nonsense.

The ones that tend to rant on over Elite are usually the ones trying to justify to themselves their own spending commitments in SC and little else...strangely... more often than not they're the same culprits that vociferously whined about being asked to pay for the Horizons DLC :D

You haven't provided proof that supports your statement of: "CI is still the most valued space game company in the entire industry. Is this just mere luck?". If you feel your links support your statement then provide explanation.

You appear distracted based on your commentary.
Mentioned Space Game Company specifically. And the sources were listed. The numbers are there.

Another source: https://venturebeat.com/2018/12/20/...raised-46-million-to-launch-big-game-in-2020/

Another source: https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/333313/Cloud_Imperium_raises_46M_from_private_investment.php

CI actually reduced their value on purpose.

Backed above. I think you just don't like founded arguments and want to shoo people away that aren't constantly talking negatively about the thing.
FDev are currently valued at £486.4m ($632.5m). That's why i asked you to provide sources.

Best lulz I've had for a long time, especially this reply... "I always think the ED hate for Star Citizen is hilarious, because that game never would've been funded without the call for backers by CIG and Chris Roberts. SC literally funded ED, and they respond by marking SC as the devil."

…you understand that these are images from games released in 2016 and 2017 on last-gen consoles, right? Not some future thing but what is already old hat and what will be surpassed the next time the same teams (or teams with equivalent levels of proficiency) release something.

No. We're discussing the visual quality of characters, where SC and its 2013 engine no longer holds a candle to what's already out there, much less to what will be available if it ever comes out.

Thus: the characters look like crap and their level of animation is horrid even by 2013 standards, never mind what has been available for the last decade. The only thing that is not last-gen in SC is the stuff they've bought from competent middleware manufacturers and then bolted on with the skill and precision of drunken Millwall fans.
You sir are a brick wall aren't you? You are comparing a small map game with a large scale MMO game. Find me a modern MMO with large scale maps and then we can compare. But there really is no point because you are fully in troll mode man.

Does not look like less detail at all I am afraid. 2011 BF3 actually looks better than 2019 SC more often than not. But more importantly:

BF3 worked, it was stable and had much much much less bugs and glitches than SC after 7-8 years of development.

Oh? It was you who brought the BF comparison here (and a 2011 one at that), and now that it does not seem to serve your argument as well as you would like it to you decide to move goal posts? I must say I am slightly disappointed.
No his comparison was fine bro. He showed a multiplayer game with a small scale and then showed a game that is large scale and has similar graphics and then compared it to NMS, which you guys praise. Fact is your arguments showed you have no clue about game dev. Because SC is doing those graphics at a massive scale. Something that Elite can't sadly ever achieve(Atmos planetary landing) P.S I love NMS :D also was team Elite, bought it before it was even released played it for good 7 years then gave SC a try.

How much of the planet(s) surface is currently playable or otherwise interactive? I mean it's reasonably pretty but not above any of the newer Frosbite games (BF, Battlefront, etc), and will have to have a huge number of repeated assets even if they can be randomized to some extent.

ED and NMS both have a vast number of playable planetary scale first person (or first SRV) maps. Not as pretty, maybe, but they actually exist and are playable - not getting into whether the associated gameplay is good/bad as that's subjective!
About as interactive as ED, you can fly anywhere you want you can mine you can land. That's as much as ED can do rn :D minus the atmosphere.

Why are you comparing a screenshot from 8 year old game Battlefield 3 (launched in 2011; the map is Alborz Mountains) to the no-revised-launch-date-yet Star Citizen?

Seems disingenuous: "look this in-development game has better graphics than one from 8 years ago!".

Comparing graphics and world-tech between games that spanned multiple console generations will regularly show advantages to the later games.
Okay lets explain it to the slow ones. Main comparison is SC and NMS graphics both large scale, it shows that SC looks like BF3 small map while having a full planet like NMS. Simple right :D

Haha! But sure, fact here is it's iyo.

Oh by the way, what's that "i-Cache development"? Another revolutionary never done before tech that'll wax the pipelines and make the dreams come true after Item 2.0, OCS, Server meshing did before?
Who is saying any of this is revolutionary... Ohh wait, you are the one assuming that those things were claimed revolutionary. They are just discussing things needed to build up the foundation which ED clearly didn't do because after recent updates it became a massive bug fest.

Yeah, not only he can not be trusted in time estimation but also, more importantly, any content/features details. As starter he has already vaguely intimated he will most likely fail to deliver what has been promised in the fully funded (5+ times over) Kickstarter and Stretch Goals at the commercial release (24:20).

Source: https://youtu.be/vJoHlCc4Y7E?t=1460
Yeah Industry... Lets remember all the ED promises we got that were never delivered. I fell for them as well and looking at ED dev speed most of those promises will never happen :D

The worst bit is all the other games that could have been. "I'd back this but I got my fingers burned with SC" is pretty common.

Actually released video games for sale is probably offtopic in the SC thread.
Yeah a highly empty one I loved the Deliver X this to there for 7 years ohh was fun grind. Thought I did love the new mining they added a while back.

its always incredible to see how other games are bashed and ridiculed on a constant basis because of high (but unfulfilled) expectations but when it comes to Star Citizen every past mistake, every broken promise, every disappointment is instantly forgiven and CIG given another chance, its like watching a kid or niece making its first steps and falling over but getting encouraged to keep trying, not a company that takes your money.
But SC is literally bashed in this thread, every game is bashed and every game is defended by the fans :D Get yer facts straight good man. NMS was bashed to death until they proved themselves and hardcore fans protected it and gave it another chance. So please with your claims.
