after years of rubbish im still eager to see if you actually are going to deliver anything on that promised 'make the game smoother' scenario...i dont know if that makes me very loyal or very stupid but here's to frontiers 382947387358758292480184th chance to make things right!

I just want to express my full throated support of the bug hunt you guys are doing. It's not 'fun' work, not so much as developing new content and adding new features. It is the unglamorous other half of game development that can sink entire projects if neglected for too long. It's great that you're taking the time to address these things and I fully support taking whatever resources are needed to get it done. If this means putting off other development or pausing fun little weekly events - so be it. It will result in a better product overall in the end, so it's worth it.

Go bug hunters go!

These corrections are undoubtedly essential to welcome the base of the "New Era".

They did have those resources - sadly the community - led by Mr Obsidian & Yamiks - decided those resources should be reallocated. Maybe you could ask them to amend their letter?

"However, we know there's more to be done. You've asked for more focus on existing bug/fixes and issues, and for the community to be better integrated into the development process and testing for these upcoming updates. " (link)
The "Community Letter"... What a joke.

The focus on stability and general QoL is nice for now. However a stagnant Galnet, lack of CGs (even though the player requested ones are already written out and could be used for weekly CGs like it used to be), and a general halt to in game stories (Galnet or otherwise) means things will be really damn stagnant.

The 'fluff' articles in Galnet news made it feel, well, like the news. The weekly pre-baked CGs gave the game a sense of motion and purpose. These played a huge role in keeping things from getting stale in between content releases. Thanks to "Community Leaders" the people who plugged in the text for weekly CGs and daily Galnet can now help fix bugs! Nevermind the fact that the 'fluff articles' gave a interesting backdrop to everything or explained the state of the galaxy.

While it was annoying to not be able to interact with the stories at times, it could've been solved by pre-planed CGs (for minor arcs) and Interstellar Initiatives (for more impactful arcs) to decide the outcome of stories with the consequences only panning out later (as not to overload the devs). Instead our "Community Leaders" decided that Elite's headline feature of a living galaxy be sidelined for a minor reduction in dev time. Thank you, really!

Whilst I appreciate any announcement from FDev (they are sadly becoming rarer) this looks like another vague "at some point" message in an attempt to assuage the disquiet at things gradually being shelved (GalNet articles last year, now CGs and IIs).

Is there any chance of more details and a some sort of roadmap?

What part of a new paid-for DLC coming at the end of the year makes you think that?
We were told summer 2020 and now we are told December 2020. If it takes them nearly 1.5 years to introduce fleet carriers then I have no hope that the paid update will arrive on time either.

The fact that a beta for bug testing has meant no more CGs shows how poorly staffed the E.D team are and how little FDev cares about us.

I will place bets that we dont see the paid update until summer 2021 and when it comes it will just be a lacklustre space legs cockpit only buggy mess for £40.

Steve pointed to the roadmap in the OP of this thread.

From now and into next year (2020), the updates will focus almost exclusively on addressing recent and longstanding issues, including those reported in the Issue Tracker, ultimately making the game better.
We are expecting to have a series of these updates, which will be rolled out (approximately) every three to four months.
Each update will also include a public beta that will run prior to the update's release, with a dedicated time to address major issues that appear.

Jan 2020 - patch fix
3 - 4 months later (I would guess Easter) - patch fix 2
Sometime before the end of Q2 2020 (read June 2020) - Fleet carriers
3 months later - [insert release here] - it’ll probably be bug fixing
Q4 2020 - paid DLC / LEP freebie - probably tied into Xbox Series X and PS5 launch.

No details of what the DLC will be, probably Ice worlds and base building, I’ve seen no evidence that it’ll be space legs or atmospheric worlds.

Fleet carrier are not the paid contend. That's something different we don't know about yet.

And will you post an apology if you're wrong about it?

We were told the new paid content was going to be late 2020 from its announcement December is just that.

Carriers are a different matter and are due before that.

I am saddened that II/CGs are suspended as I am highly addicted to them however that will allow me to get on with other stuff like maybe get to explorer Elite after all these years. But that is the only negative aspect of this announcement.

I remember Ice Worlds being announced at Frontier Expo 2017 which would be coming in early 2018. I guess I'm just losing faith that FDev still have the will or the way to delivery what they announce.
