Interesting. Some how it feels dirty, CIG seems to get something out of it anyway it goes. With prejudice they can call it a win and gain backer trust and PR. Without prjudice they get an excuse for not releasing SQ42 (to avoid court expense of Crytek bullying).

Nah, if it's suspended without prejudice they're still in a bind. They need to get something to market soon. And the reason for that is the Calders.

(The Calder $46m was injected into the company at a time when it had $14m tops in the bank, and a burn rate of -$7m pa. They saved the day. But you can be sure they were in the driving seat as a result, and attached some massive strings to the investment. They will want payback. And the clearest route to that is some form of product sale. With a big chunk of that cash reserved for marketing of the same, most likely. That means time is ticking...)

SQ42 is the obvious vehicle for the Calders to get their money back, but it will have the case dangling over it (and its future profits). So what choices would they have? SC is clearly in no fit state to go gold. They could release SC42 chapters through an 'SC launcher', but that's still at risk of a stand-alone claim IMO (purely because, what else can it be if it launches alone, sold individually, as it still is, well in advance of SC).

They could try and market the new Battlefield clone. But aside from the fact that it's likely to be a bit shoddy, it would still be open to the same claims as SQ42. Unless of course they've built it entirely from scratch and purely inside Lumberyard. And that could be the plan. (But given the asset re-use, the use of V4 surface tech, the flight model, the vehicles etc etc, I think it's still reasonable to assume that it's not a fresh build, and that Crytek could knock on the door regarding legacy code which could be beholden to the old GLA...)

None of the above look like situations I envy being in to be honest ;)

I'm not going to crawl through the "Moved" or "To be removed" parts of the roadmap, but was the much-touted Theatres (Theaters, for those living in the US who think I made a typo) of War on the list yet? I understand Rex has moved on, but his videos got a lot of people excited.

It’s in the super secret build. Alongside: base building, a hygiene ship with decontamination gameplay, and war elephants.

I just want to see the redacted parts. 😁
Redacted, secret build, promises, management, Ben, Erin and Sandi...

This may be the only thing "faithfuls" and "haters" share: what's hidden could be more substantial than what's shown, though we're not witnessing the same things in the shadows... :)

So SC is actually a collectible card game?

This happens after you take the time to break up an asteroid. :D

Read a few comments last night in game chat about disappearing asteroids on one particular server, not tried the asteroids myself as yet but it's definitely a bug to add to the list. It's got to be a server side issue since I asked when I changed server if anyone had come across it and nobody had. I would have just logged out in the ship bed and tried another server since like most of the occasional server side bugs, that's a simple workaround.

Most miners don't bother much with asteroids to be honest...not enough profit in them compared to rocks on planets as yet... plus the rocks on the planets tend not to disappear of course :D

I teamed up with a relatively new guy in a rented Prospector last night who couldn't mine the larger, more lucrative rocks with a basic mining laser...I followed him around in my upgraded Prospector breaking the larger mass rocks for him for a while before we eventually crewed up in the Mole...larger capacity = more profits for both of us. As usual we swapped around the flying with the mining and stopped off to hand mine deposits of Hadanite along the way. He's on the way to making enough credits to buy a Prospector in game since he likes the mining.

Strangely enough, it's never happened to me...considering I log in and out routinely from either the Mole or Prospector in practically every game session... but it's a common enough occurence. Hence why there's a workaround that's well known and also part of the reason why Ci¬G supplied a freebie Freelancer to everyone (y)

My main concern with this patch is that with the current aUEC exploits, namely the red envelope duplication bug and the 3 player constantly repeating med bed bounty farming, we'll be due another wipe.

Fun story with the Freelancer. Went into the ship bed to test it, when i woke up my character went the wrong way, across the ship hull, which sent the physics engine into a fit loop and promptly ejected my character through the planet surface at warp speed. I'm wary of beds now.

Used to happen in both the Cat and the Prospector, exiting the bed on the wrong side chucking you outside...like every time. Haven't tried the Cat in a while but the Prospector and Mole work fine now.
