I think you all should calm down it is only 9 years in development. You all seeing only tier 0 / -0 game mechanics. When the pipelines are in place the development speed up to lightspeed. Trust in CR. /s

One thing I would like to know is the exit strategy for the Roberts Clan because is it clear the could not delivering the product SC they pitched in the sales. The other thing is I would like to know how the backers would react if the say sry folks it’s over.

I suspect the Roberts clan exit strategy has already been happening for some time. :)

As for me when it all rolls over and dies, I'll go on playing other stuff...just like I do now. I'm not that emotionally attached to it any more than I am anything else installed on my PC.

Something cinematic. Probably a speed boat...

(Although more seriously, the $4.7m mansion purchased in Sept 2018 by the Roberts Family Trust - not so long after the multi-$m windfall Chris received as part of the Calders share action in May 2018 - is probably a more likely vehicle ;))

The other thing is I would like to know how the backers would react if the say sry folks it’s over.

Probably depends how it happens. If Chris slowly edges off stage left (as he kinda seems to be doing at the moment, possibly pushed by the Calders), but 'The Game' is declared still on track etc... Only to continue its path of not coalescing, and eventually farting out in some form of compromised soft launch...

Then yeah, backers won't be happy. But their rage would be spread out over time I suspect, with no one big bang event to coalesce around. It could just be a slow Mexican wave of people throwing up their hands ;)

Still a big virtual-stadium's-worth of angry people though...

I bet i'd be more like

And Erin made the first move

That’s ok but I think there are backers that are more emotionally attached to the project. Think of the super whales or the big orgs and so on.

The other thing is that the Roberts are to silent. I mean they are the CEO‘s of the biggest crowdfunding project so far and kicking off into a new year with an Beta for SQ 42 and so on. They should be more present on the screen. At least the VP of marketing should go full speed ahead this year.

The more I read these threads, the more tempted I am just to plop down $45 just to see how "funny" the game can be.
You'll certainly get FAR more value out of the $45 Star Citizen vs. the $60 "full" elite: dangerous experience. The only downside is that your PC should probably be on the top-end of specs range to get the best out of its graphics and such. Also it has space legs and atmospheric landings, when a "FuLlY ReLeAsEd" game, after 5 frekin years, still can't even come close to that

They are definitely going full speed ahead, yachts and Porches are pretty speedy. I doubt they'll be seen again for a very long time, even Erin seems to be completely awol. If I was a pessimist, I'd say hands were being washed of things. There'll definitely be no Beta for S42 for a very long time yet, the roadmap coupled with the court stuff indicate that it probably doesn't even exist in any playable form or has been backburnered at a very early stage of development until 'whenever' or 'never'.

As a computer game project overall, it's more red flags and warning signs now than anything saleable, it's just a big sign with "Stay away" in all caps poorly printed on it.

Really? You sure about that because once upon a time I had a $120 stake in SC and right up until I refunded I felt like it was the worst use of that $120 I'd ever done. I got ED just after it released and was a wayyyyyy better experience than SC at the time. If you want space legs get NMS, Space engineers, KerbalSP or Empyrion or any other game where you can walk around, most people buy space games for space ships and flying, not walking around like a land lubber because theres a box to pick up with your hands all futuristic like. Atmospheric landings are also a bit weird since the only difference in my eyes is that atmos landins have a light (sunny/raining) sky backdrop and space landings have a 'starry sky' backdrop, whats the point?

ED doesn't have to "come close", it's a decent space game in it's own right and really doesn't need to be overbloated with rubbish unnecessary features.

Ah, the old "A is rubbish and B is less rubbish, so play B" argument.

Seen backers pull this one may times in arguments.

If A is rubbish and B is rubbish, just play neither.

Comedy value?

Oh hell yes :D

Thing is, its fine if someone doesn't like what ED does, but at least when you plop down your $60 or whatever (on sale for $10 often i believe for the base game) you know what you are paying for (if you have done your research) and can decide in advance whether its worth the money and whether you might enjoy it. On the other hand, well, yeah, you can see what SC is right now if you do your research, and decide whether you might enjoy it or not, but nobody know what the final release might look like or when it will happen, and i suspect not even CIG know this.
