Sounds more like you're mixing it up with the stages of grief. Other than that, there are a bunch confirmation biases that have been offered as explanations from time to time, such as sunk cost, or escalation of commitment, and even the backfire effect.

Whenever I have the perception/impression that a certain location is populated by haters or cultists I simply dont bother or try to stay away for my own mental sanity because A) you cant talk with those people and B) you are going to get harassed for having a different opinion ....why would you do it?

So serious question....if you really believe that most people in this thread are "haters"....whats your objective in participating/posting? Trolling? Fighting the good fight? Antagonizing? Its always surprising how many people make the "effort" to get into this thread simply because they feel its filled with haters and they have to post exactly that, never posting any quality content or participating in earnest....just dismissing it alltogether as "hate" and laughing from the sideline

In fact if SC would ever get released as serious competitor for ED that would likely be good thing for ED players. That would really motivate FD to add new features for game. Say like Atmo landings and or space legs. So why would I hate SC?

Pretty sure the whole roadmap will get a fresh update after the "internal planning meetings" happen, within the next couple weeks or so? Then we will be back to happy times!

Nope..

All I can see happening is clan Roberts circling the wagons and removing the remaining $15 from the bank account marked 'development funds' before booking the flights to a non extradition country and leaving the few devs still thinking they have a job a pile of P45's in their wage packets with an addition to their CV that reads. "Works well under supervision." ;)

Come now, Mole, you should know better than that. Chris Roberts has Hollywood ambitions, and he's learned his lessons well: use Hollywood Accounting to enrich yourself legally, by creating shell companies to charge a project for "services," so it'll never make a cent, to ensure that those who made your "dream" possible never get rewards they deserve.

I even noted a couple of sky marshalls alongside a few legatus level backers hoisting forth the pitchforks amidst the assemblage of assorted peasantry after the latest roadmap carnage...with some well known evocati members joining in with the general dissent and throwing of embroidered sandals...things are looking up :D

Yep. I'm out. Going to take a break from all this. Too vague and obsessive and toxic.
I'm just so out of touch with what affects what and why ... got enough headaches of my own to deal with for the year.
I've given my support. Done a bit of testing and issue council. Going to step back and let Devs do what they do, however that works out.​


On the flipside, CIG are unlikely to be too bothered by the negativity and pessimism as whales are still happily spending/pledging - the crowdfunding is having its best January ever :

If the December ED expansion has good EVA then I think the funding for SC will decline substantially. Because many SC players will try ED and maybe they're satisfied with it. Must haves are being able to walk inside ships and on planets.

That's not how sunk cost works. The highly-invested whales only care for Star Citizen, they aren't interested in other games. SC is their one and only entertainment, hobby-expenditure, and dream, all rolled into one.

That's why SC content creators receive immense toxicity and death threats when they talk of playing other games (traitors!), while some streamers literally feel trapped in the SC community - they only get decent viewerships & subscribers when playing SC.

Keep cool guys. I've seen bigger delays in the last few years, that's harmless. The roadmap is a guarantee for quarter patches, not a feature guarantee. And we get some new features, that's also great. It looks like, SQ42 is still the priority and that's fine.

Yeah lol chill you n00bs, this is just a load of significant milestones getting kicked down the ever-lengthening road, we've seen all this before so that makes it fine. Looks like S42 is still the focus (for some years now allegedly) despite the fact that a motion to dismiss the court case has just been made on the basis that it's in perma-delay mode. Hurrah! Buy an Idris you weak-minded fools!

Some of these people are a 419 scammer's dream. 'What's that Chris I need to send another $200 for release fees to get my $8m cheque? No problem dude, this is the best thing that ever happened to me.'

This is the part of the SC mindset that I will never understand. It's like paying a builder £5m to build you a mansion, then you go to check on progress after 6 months and he says yeah sorry, not much happening yet but hey, would you like to buy a Mars bar for a tenner?
