Request: Bring back CGs

They... they were?

huh...
Its almost like they would have had there OWN section of the forum. were all of this would have been said and people would have flogged the dead horse over and over at the time of there removal all ready...
O well guess they realy were not worth having there own forum section for every one to post in at the time...;)

Yes bring them back. CGs was my first step into open and doing a brave Sir Robin in my little Sidewinder at the beginning was really fun. In later ones interacting with the smurf guard was more than interesting. CGs showed me how much fun and excitement open can be, so bring them back.

Exactly- they were also a great source of cash for low-level commanders.

I liked having CGs. Sure, I'd get bored with the run-of-the-mill haul this, shoot that CG every week, so I didn't do CGs every week, but at least every week I had the OPTION to do a CG when I was in the mood. Now, we have no options at all :(
This.
I'd prefer better CG's...but even a copy pasta CG is better than nothing (while we wait 😉)
It's just a good way to meet other Cmdr's...whatever your reason might be!
Agreed OP

If I’m reading this right OP believes that the purpose of CG’s was to provide the PvP ‘community’ with victims, sorry ‘content?
You are mistakenly assuming that all players who participate in CGs in non-combat roles don’t want to be targeted. As I pointed out in a previous comment, when I was a trader I enjoyed the challenge of operating in the often hostile environment of a CG. This challenge made me much better at building survivable ships and piloting them. Now, as an Imperial combat pilot, yes, my role at a CG may be to target enemy CMDRs but it may also be to protect allies and Imperial CMDRs. So, what does that make me?

The whole dynamic at CGs is very interesting and lot's of fun for most people.
The first CG I was at in open was the Imperial part of The Enclave. Right out the gate I got useful tips from other pilots and once I popped into SC got chased around by the Feds and Pirates. Later on an Imperial wing showed up and there was a kinda stalemate between the 2 forces. So I could almost tauntingly fly in-front of the Feds and they didn't dare to pull me. That whole experience was interesting, exciting, and fun and at the end made me stay in open from that point on. Best decision ever. Now I fly with the best squadron in ED (no argument about that) and the game just became something much better.

I still "own" one pirate a fight, as he was chasing me around the Imperial system and later in Maia and never got me. I really enjoyed that.

Don't worry, there are a fair few folks that believe any kind of PvP is some kind of crime, when in fact, a lot of it is exactly how the designers envisioned the game, that of a competitive open world.

There are also a bunch of folk who just like to see other players ship explode for no "in game world" reason. I'm not really a fan of those folks, but whatever.

I too miss CGs/IIs, hope that when the big update finally drops, we'll get something like them again.

(I also miss Galnet. I'm odd that way...)

Burn CG's

Re-write them so that you can have much more granular and intuitive things in them - like, if there is an exploration "CG" to search for someone who went missing in a certain region - - make it so only data from that region can be turned in!

Equally, if the CG is about getting "part of thargoids for research" make Thargoid hearts count for more than bits of scavenger - this is the most obvious thing that you would just normally expect to happen.

II's have attempted to do a little of this next one - but - ALWAYS, always have at least one unique "scenario" involved - even back during the Lugh war CG, before II's had even been conceived, they did this - you could drop into a specific USS, which had special ships doing special stuff AND you could either pirate ships, OR destroy ships (of both sides) and these things counted for different, opposing goals.

Speaking of which, always have an opposing goal - no CG should ever be a sure thing.

Always have a tangible reward.

Make things happen over time, in game, visually and mechanically.

If the CG is building a space station, make the station get built over time based on the amount of materials brought to the CG location(s) (and slow it's building if people destroy/pirate the other side)

Make all bounty hunting CG's only count if you pirate, well, you know, ships that are pirating the traders taking the goods there (which should include NPCs, which, should actually carry the right goods during the CG) not just "any bounty will do"

And finally (though there's a lot more that could be done) - Make some CG types that can naturally "spawn" based on things that happen through the BGS.
This!

CGs have mostly always been a sure thing. Every CG concluded with a win.

The things happening over time is something I dearly miss in this game. It's concluded and POP there is the new station you've been building. Wasn't there yesterday, it's there today.

The BGS triggering some CGs would make even more sense. Pushing it to trigger a station building - or the opposite too - would actually encourage people to play the BGS. Not everyone cares about it at the moment.
