Elite Dangerous (Steam) just set a new All Time record for concurrent CMDRs, beating previous highest in Nov 2015

Agreed, it's great to see so many new & returning CMDRs playing the game again, and the much increased activity on the forums and Reddit.

Meanwhile, next week we'll hear about the first set of changes coming to Fleet Carriers Beta based on our constructive feedback this past fortnight.

Edit: also thanks mods for editing the thread title :)

15,403 players in game. That's the 2nd highest peak players on Steam since release.

Edit: apologies it's the 2nd highest peak monthly total, but within those months there were higher numbers on specific days making it the 4th highest on any given day.

Got distracted by the ooze over here completely forgot that, no, its just frontier, the world truly isn't that bad outside this game. Its the white knights that have lost it, not us.

Why don't you just type it. It takes alot more effort to downvote someone here you have to actually type something. Which means if you type something that sounds crap you're at the risk of getting reverse downvoted yourself. Its a double dare.

Sorry been noticing that white knights are getting hammered into oblivion over in reddit at the moment. They've been silenced and you can't even see their posts. Mob mentality works both ways.

I've even had a 50% surge in activity over the past week or two for my beginner's guide :D

That would mean that the trap is set then.

If frontier do well by the players, they should enjoy quite a boost in success from all the commotion.

If frontier do what they normally do and have done so at every other beta, they're more like following anthem, but unlike ea and bioware don't care about the outcome, will probably change some staff around? and get ready for their next go at space legs.

Its up to them now, we'll find out tomorrow either way.

This whole plague business in modern times really makes you take a step back and wonder sometimes.

Guess I'm lucky that we picked up a V2 Nintendo Switch and a bunch of games before it really took hold in the US about a month ago. I mean, you know, other than our good fortune and health, of course.

Well, good health and stay safe guys. o7

Thanks for that. Interesting also to note ED concurrency also more than doubled without issuing a similar rally event or call to join in. Wonder what the number would have been.

"Stay in and play our game.... Oh look our player count is up! Who'd have thunk it?"

It would be interesting to know if 2nd (even multiple) commander accounts are contributing significantly to the increase in Steam numbers.
I doubt it, unless they can control those accounts at the same time.

Remember, these are concurrent numbers, basically the amount of people playing at one time, not the total amount playing in a day.

An example. There are 1000 concurrent players including yourself, you log off, it goes down to 999, you log back in with your alt, it goes back up to 1000.

That's ED community. Organize CG's and II's and the same number of players will take part of it and have some fun. Release a ty content (or make a beta of it) and chart stats will break through the ceilings!

Really need that one explained? In this game, an announcement of the price of something being 5 billion counts as content, that's what everyone is doing. Its the only new thing as there has not been one bit (computing sense) changed in this game since January. Lets be fair at least.

This would also explain the increase of salt...
The more people play the half baked content the more people realize it and come to complain...

That's technically playing in their imaginations half baked content while waiting for time to pass until the real articles drop. Like now :p

I bet so many people have been having a blast with fleet carriers and their hopes and discussions, its just on the forums instead of in game. I did that a few years ago with the fss. Won't say anymore as we're only doomed by history repeating itself not technical doom.

I vaguely remember that in the dark 25 modular terminals time people did just that - running two accounts and transferring excess of whatever hops fdev required them to hop through for engineers (bloody cigars and tea incl.). Had a colleague who was flying for Grom and he told me that they have "special accounts" who are tasked with just that. It was used to enable pp players with engineers as quickly as possible. What I don't know if it was operated on one computer and I'm too lazy to check.

That's ED community. Release a poopooty content (or make a beta of it) and chart stats will break through the ceilings!

Release any kind of new content you mean ;-) Any port in a storm, beggars can't be choosers and all that jazz :D

I do not think anyone is denying or being "unfair" in that it is indeed the FC beta that has made the concurrency levels in Elite more than double. That is pretty clear. But I would defintely stop short of judging and generalizing over the entire Elite player base just based on my personal views. Just pointing out no one had to issue an event to rally or call to join in unlike your SCS example.

Umm, i personally feel strongly about considering both an "in game event" and "anticipation/preparation for an upcoming patch" to be the same thing. Doubly so because being ready for the patch will require weeks of repeating the same activity over and over again if people are to meet their inspired targets.

There's a very real element of "better get started if im going to make it".
