Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Got to Colonia last night - yay!!. Pleased on arrival at Jaques to cash in exploration data for 43m cr, and have 23 First Discoveries. Incredible relief to get there - I enjoy it, but it was 602 jumps in total, so it's nice to be in a station at last. Hull was at 98% on arrival, so I will take that.

Before logging off I refitted my Python as a miner, along the lines suggested by various posters in here, so THANK YOU, all of you, for the various bits of Python mining advice. Much appreciated.

Pleased to see that my trusty Asp-S was still safe and well at Jaques, and have had my Corvette shipped up from the Bubble. Cost was 347m credits, so not as bad as I had feared (although I'll need to spend that again plus some to finish her off, she's currently sporting my Anaconda's internals. It's a project, sort of a barn find Corvette, build to be funded through the mining).

Anyway, thanks again, Commanders.

Work done on the iEagle complete! (After a look in LSpace for a suitable name, "Cheery Littlebottom" has become "Screaming Doctor Berserk" - a mad doctor who employed an Igor).

Landing is a small issue as it suffers from "hull integrity compromised" every time. I suppose some shields could be utilised :D What's great is the way the ship accelerates - it shakes - and then, when you hit boost, it sounds like a brick slamming against corregated iron.

Next phase - find a canyon to fly in.

Just back into ED after a month or so off - I took DBX Big Bad Nasty Warship out to HIP 36601 on a mats run and promptly stuck the SRV on a crystal spike. :ROFLMAO: NO amount of wiggling would free it, so I was forced to reload a couple of times until she bounced free.
Anyhoo; 31 jumps back to the nearest mat trader, to trade up a full set of Premium reloads for the Multiguns on Xeno's Paradox - my Krait II. Been in a CNB ever since; trying to get that Dangerous number to freakin' move.
Following a nice joust with an Elite Anaconda (plus SLF) that took me down to 42% hull (but got me a LOT of mats) I'm back home for lunch - and heading out again in a few.
Cheers!

Nice. I still have some tweaks to do on mine. You should be able to fit some smaller shields while maintaining the same boost speed. I'll be away from ED for a week or so, but when I come back I plan to do some final touches on my own iEagle, it currently only boosts to 899 but some final tweaks will make it into something like this. The fuel scoop does not weigh anything and the cargo racks are just if I decide I need to carry something at some point. They will be empty when racing.

Got my SRV borked half way down a mountain.Trapped in a cauldron with steep sides. No way out.(tried logging out, no joy.) Heigh ho.I still have a mining laser and there are plenty of rings and asteroids if i run low on mats for the limpets.I was planning on running my pp down to 50% before turning back,(73% now), and with about 10 jumps to The Veils i will still do some exploration there and then see how things stand.

Did you try to call the Hull Seals?

I have a self-made rule that I apply to all games. It's pretty simple. If I get bored, I do something else.

I've done the 'grind till you drop' thing before, and it always tends to ruin a game for me.

The last couple of weeks I've been mostly mining, trying to get enough credits for a carrier plus fuel plus upkeep (I still hate upkeep!). I enjoy mining, so it's been fun.

I now have a little over 6 billion in cash. I kinda wanted another billion or so to make sure I had enough to waste on a carrier, but I think I'm approaching my boredom threshold.

One or two more runs, maybe. Then it'll have to do :)

You can always try core mining. ;)
It is somewhat less profitable in cr/hour, but it does offer some variety to laser mining.

Took Screaming Doctor Berserk out for her maiden run - no canyon yet, just the surface of the nearest landable to get a feel for speed. Er...

Yeah. She's quick, alright. What I did notice and didn't expect was the heat being generated. Whenever I banked too heavily, I was up in critical territory. Also if I wasn't frugal enough on the boosting. Looks like a few more tweaks are needed which may be at the cost of top speed (suspicion: over-zealousness on PP engineering to cope with shields). Ah well, it it's a fun diversion :D

I could, it seems, reduce heat with FAoff but I'm dangerously rubbish at that and will, all too easily, faceplant in spectacular fashion.

With a few tweaks you should be able to get below the min mass of the enhanced performance thrusters even with a 2A powerplant with some low emissions engineering on top. This should help quite a lot with the heat efficiency.
