Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Simon, does Colonia have all of the modules for all of the ships available? I know the engineering there seems pretty robust, but wasn't sure of module availability, and are they all available in one stop like at Jameson?

Hello!

I'm no expert but have been before and got into a lot of these issues. Both types of Tech Broker are available up at Colonia. There are also Material Traders. The engineering is improving all the time (the maximum class of the engineers improves with each individual roll of the dice triggered by Commanders, and is now getting high). There are a couple of high tech stations, so most ships are available (although no Imperial and no Corvette, hence me flying there in the Cutter and then shipping the Clipper and Corvette). Most ship modules are available, and again that is improving all the time. For instance, 5A FSD used to be unavailable, but now is. There is a (to me charming!) element in that some modules go out of stock, but they come back quickly. Before my departure last time, I bought a 5A FSD for my Python, but it was the last one they had (!), so I couldn't buy one ahead of time for my intended Krait MkII (buying that when I get there), but stock seems to improve quickly (it rotated while I was there last time). But it is now almost a full set of modules - pretty much everything is available up to class A and up to the maximum size possible (lots of 8A modules available). From memory, the one biggest gap was that there were no sensors 6-8 above a C rating (I wrote that down while I was there last time - so not actually from memory!). But I imagine that that is improving all the time as more Commanders spend time there.

There are now lots of stations, several of a high standard. You can't quite get all the ships and modules in one place, but everything is quite close together up there. You could certainly outfit anything using three stations, each within one jump of the other. So I don't find it cumbersome. Indeed, I really enjoy it. Last time, I arrived in an Asp-S, so that was my only ship there. I sold my exploration data, and with that and my existing bank I bought and outfitted a good trader Python (albeit with 5B FSD at the time). I traded using that ship and with the proceeds I bought and outfitted a T9. Trading with that one saw me A rate/engineer it, finish the Python and buy an Asp-X. The Asp-X I used for my return to the Bubble. I was in Colonia for just over a fortnight. So there is a good and established economy up there. I'm quite relaxed about moving there full time, and using it as a base from which to explore further out.

Current journey going well. Set off from Wolf 54 (my home for ages - great combination of stations for lucrative trading - bought me a Cutter and a Corvette!) last night and am now 484 jumps away from Jaques Station. So it's a slog but I am exploring as I go, not taking an entirely direct route, and the Cutter only jumps 42ly so it isn't the most suited ship for a quick, long journey. But I'm loving it.

If you want me to check anything specific on arrival, ask and I will! But basically, as far as Colonia goes - come on in, the water's lovely!!

Still out in the near black, singing "We had joy, we had fun, we found planets round the suns. But when the suns got too hot, then we got a sweaty bot".

Still can't believe how many first disco's I'm getting this close to home: EDSM has me at > 1,300 systems now although that's not the real number in the game proper. Either way, this part of the black certainly the know's the name "Tyres O'Flaherty"! :ROFLMAO:

On a side note: it took a while getting into it, but "Picard" is actually rather good. Certainly more gritty than TNG and it is has - gasp! - swear words in it!

just became an ensign in fed navy, looking at the the federal gunship may be a bit pricey any good setups for one.has i already have the fed dropship running around deciat with it plasma accelator attached.:)

take heed GANKERS!!!:)

If you can stand his language (after all, he's got a reputation to keep), this one is a bit older, but probably still valid. Not that much has changed since then.

The hull tank (+fighter) upgrade is here:

Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along.

I always did like a cheerful song. Congratulations on all your discoveries.

I liked several things about Picard, the fact that stuff had happened while we were away and the characters had developed, the way they infodumped some stuff in the teasers, seeing the civilian side of life and the fact it was one story.

Ive been playing the game at a more-or-less steady level since I started. Can you guess when I did the mining?

Not sure what I did the rest of the time now!

Reached the other side of Rykers Hope, none the wiser as to what it was he/she was hoping for. I have, however, spent the time developing several theories,
( favourite of which is he/she was travelling with an attractive crewmate), but none of them really explain how this mysterious commander came to have a whole sector named in his/her honour.
From here i can dip in to the Arcadian Stream and Newtons Vault as i zig-zag along the border towards the Veils,a little over 5kly away.

Found this pair of ringed HCMWs and the views were spectacular.

Yes, awesome shots!

I was in Borann today, cuz yeah. If I decide to get a carrier I'll need a darn sight more than 5 billion. And also I was bored.

I don't usually have System chat on, but I turned it on today just for the heck of it.

It reminded me very much of what Barrens chat used to be like in the original World of Warcraft. Today's topic was "transgender rights." It kinda took me out of the game, y'know? After a while I decided I preferred the solitude of space, so I turned it off again.

Chat.

Chat never changes.

:p

Great shot, like one of my favourites posted. I LOVE the look of an Asp Scout. My favourite looking ship (love flying it, too).

It kind of made sense (Screenshot 2000LY from the bubble) :
Two - somewhat - rare elements of ELITE working together to get the job done. Seemed fitting :)

And with a Carrier as a nearby FOB, the function of the Scout to survey a limited volume of space around it really kicked in for me.
I'll very likely use that very ship far more often myself in the future.
