The Rabbit Hole Expedition: Bubble > Colonia > Sagittarius a* > Bubble

o7 Greetings, Commanders!

I am Shinzo, a newbie in Elite who is eager to explore the whole palette our beautiful galaxy can offer. Inspired by other expeditions, I decided to try and make my own.
Ever since I started playing space games, I always made sure that I try to explore it as much as possible. Now Elite, to me, and probably to many others, is the first game with 1:1 scale world, that makes your mind explode when you think about it. That's the main drive of this expedition, to see how deep this rabbit hole can go, and, of course, to simply have fun along the way.
Even though I have close to no experience of leading people in Elite, I used to command fleets in other mmo's, so every bit of your help would be very welcome!

When: As the logo says, we expect to departure on 23th, but it can be delayed if some of you won't be able to get prepared in time. The expedition will take place for at least a few months. I will try my best to set the waypoints in such a way that the expedition won't feel rushed nor stretched.

How: It's up to you. Any ships are welcome, any players, newbies and vets, especially if you haven't been there yet!
If you need any kind of help, ask away on discord, i'm there almost 24/7 because i'm quarantined.
The expedition will take place primarily on PC platform.
I do strongly suggest to get a ship with a decent jump range, somewhere around 50ly.

Here are some great informational websites to help you at preparations:

System/Station database:

Where:
Note: there might be some changes of the route. Information here will be updated.

We will try to visit as many cool places as possible (and doing some fun stuff up there).
I've combined a few routes, the result is a whopping 87,296.26 LY long journey, it completes a circle from Bubble to Colonia to Sag a* and back, and there's a ton of stuff to see between those.
Here's the list so far in order:

TL;DR Turn off everything but essentials, get an AFMU, offering help getting you stuff.

Though I've never gone outside the bubble to that extent, there's a handy trick to help save some fuel. That being turn off all non-essential modules; Everything but Thrusters, FSD, Guardian Booster, Life Support, and Fuel Scoop, though with this expedition I'd include Sensors as essential, as well.

I'd also highly recommend bringing at least 1 Auto-Field Maintenance Unit, preferably biggest you can fit. Neutron Stars damage your FSD a little bit every time you use 'em, and one of those will let you repair it on the go. Down-side being you'll have to exit supercruise, but some down time to prevent being stranded is better than BEING stranded. They can be turned off to save fuel until you need it, and won't remove ANY jump-range just by having it.

I am also available to assist anyone in getting the money and/or Guardian FSD Booster, should anyone joining us would need it.

Main reason you’d be disabling anything is heat. And if your power plant is properly set up you don’t have heat problems :)

It actually does indeed cut down on fuel used per hour.

I think the trip is bust, though; We have the date, but not the time, on when it'll be happening.

Fuel per hour is almost never something you need to worry about though.

If you're attempting some in-system distance record, like flying ly further out from Semotus Beacon, or you've arrived on fumes in a system expecting to scoop from a secondary star only to discover it's 350kls away then it can matter but otherwise it's pretty irrelevant.

Just a word of Caution about the picked route : with a few Waypoint exceptions, that's basically following the most densely explored routes of the entire Galaxy.

Depending on elevation in the Galactic plane, might not be a whole lot of undiscovered Systems.

In terms of discovering anything new, this Expedition might not appeal to many for that reason.

Exactly what M4RTH4 said, we'll be going through already discovered list of waypoints, but we'll try to visit as many points of interest as possible.
The expedition starts tomorrow at 20:00. You can still join if you got a ship!

Sorry, already 18000 LY out (about 5k South-East of SagA) and scouting one of my scheduled future Carrier Campaign Waypoints :)
