Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

\0/

Work done on the iEagle complete! (After a look in LSpace for a suitable name, "Cheery Littlebottom" has become "Screaming Doctor Berserk" - a mad doctor who employed an Igor).

Landing is a small issue as it suffers from "hull integrity compromised" every time. I suppose some shields could be utilised :D What's great is the way the ship accelerates - it shakes - and then, when you hit boost, it sounds like a brick slamming against corregated iron.

Next phase - find a canyon to fly in.

Umm....concurrent to my last can I...borrow that for five minutes? ;)

I was trading near the starter area for a while, but I kept getting 'leads' on opportunities that were blocked by the Pilot Federation. So I got wise and moved far away from that to a system that on the galaxy map has a lot of different directions to branch out from. I earned my second million in two days (that may not sound like much, but between work and kids... )

Anyway, good times. That type 6 transporter is getting awfully close.

Your earning potential in this game always increased rapidly the more credits you had to spend on ships, even in these accelerated times that is mostly true.

Another 2 million and a well fitted T6 will be a comfortable buy.

Made good money in a T6 and that was before current mining profit

Inara.cz will show you systems with trading routes making more than 5000 Cr per unit return runs. Then you are making half a million per return in a T6.

EDIT

With that load of cargo on-board you'll likely get interdicted too. Which is fun in a T6, it is easily avoidable but will keep you alert!

For those amnesiac laser mining moments I suggest this build it is more racing truck than F1 but is more than fast enough to make pirates the least of your worries when you hit boost In the ring.
The Orca is a truely flexible ship, nice build.
The Orca is also an excellent hull tank. A friend of mine has one she calls "Blunt Force Trauma." It boosts to +600m/s with enough hull points to ram a station to death.

made the dumb mistake of exiting the game while in an LTD hotspot with a partly-loaded Type-9.
Dang! I'd completely forgotten about that; I'm gonna get pirated for sure.
My mining ship is a well armed and shielded Cutter, so I kinda enjoy it when the pirates show up in a ring. They are invariably low-level guys, it seems.

Yesterday I had a wing of 3 come after me -- 2 harmless Adders and a novice Viper III. Why they thought harassing a Cutter was a good idea, I'll never know.

They scanned me, saw I had nothing in my hold (yet) and turned to leave. I blew them all up for impertinence and claimed their bounties (they WERE wanted, after all).

My ship "only" has 256T of cargo storage, but I get bored around 150 anyway so it works for me! And I like turning the tables on the pirates.

With a smaller cargo you are less likely to run into the bulk sales price mechanic which is nice.

Congrats, both on the profits and the juggling of the kids (wife and four kids all in lockdown here has made my Elite journey one of deft footwork, recently). I love the T6. Now have all the ships but still my favourite two are my light trader/mats gatherer T6 and my explorer Asp Scout. You'll love it when you get it. Can haul 108T when I strip it back for a particular mission, is fast, handles beautifully and can land anywhere, with decent jump range. And tough to interdict. What's not to like?!

Next play day is tomorrow and we’ll earned after getting a week’s worth of Vit D time cleaning the car... sadly not a RL corvette but a mini (maybe I should call it Sidey)... but seriously contemplating flying the rock-chomping Python back to base and getting either in the Viper, A-rating it properly and doing some combat practice or.... finally chasing down Felicity Foofoo....

You could even pick up some EPTs for a 2A or 3A slot.

Well for starters, I wouldn't call her that to her face.Neither does she take well to being adressed as Flikka or Flic.
La Belle Dame Farseer has some very ardent admirers amongst a section of the player-base, and the very thought would likely render some of them insensate. Besides which, she bakes an excellent fruitcake and her laundry facilities are beyond compare.
Viper sounds cool, though.
