VR adoption is spiking. Players want more FPS content to play and Elite is uniquely positioned to offer that AAA sandbox experience that has so far been lacking in VR. It would also place them miles ahead of star-citizen in terms of immersion, where they had previously fallen behind.
No Man's Sky has VR support. I've been wondering for a while whether it would be time for them to consider an acquisition of HelloGames.
Except trying to build the game as a VR FPS would end up alienating more people then it would attract.
I like VR, but i accept that VR is a niche group of people. ED does not need some FPS VR that only a small handful of players will get to enjoy or truly expereince. ED Needs more content, not gimmicky VR content.
I truly believe that its going to be 1 or 2 options
1) No VR support at all for any odyssey content. You get your VR headset in the cockpit and it all works just as it does now. But when you go into the space legs mode, you get your standard FPS experience that does not support VR.
-1.1) possibly will get it so VR headset will work, but all movemetn is still done via Mouse and keyboard or controller.
2) No VR support at launch, and VR support with moment and VR controllers brought in at a later date and its basically a VR port.
Personally think option 1 is what its going to be. But there is a good chance of option 2. I think anything outside of that, your being way to generous with the popularity of VR/the amount of people that actually have a VR set up and are into ED.
