If we believe Rafe Zetter, Raxxla is a planet and it has an alien construct. In ED the word 'construct' is used as a name for the Guardian AI.
I'm not a native English speaker, but to me it feels a bit odd to use that word for a virtual entity. It doesn't feel like a coincidence. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

But I think all that old lore has been retconned out.
I’ll tell you when I find it! 😁
If I’m not killed by the lizard people! šŸ¦–
Whatever happened to Ricardo Bentonio?? šŸ¦ŽšŸ¦Ž

No, I’m not sure of anything about lore any more, I’m totally confused! Yes, I agree, we should read the Codex and Tourist beacons (& maybe the Galnet archives šŸ˜‰) and take that as the current lore. But my memory is failing a bit in old age so I tend to remember older stuff better! šŸ‘Øā€šŸ¦³
What we know 100% about the lore, is that the ED book authors had no knowledge about Raxxla. The writers guide had no info of Raxxla and the subject was of limit.
Raxxla is the stuff of legends and hints are most likely to be found in the books that preceded ED and were available to FD when they constructed the mystery.

The Dark Wheel is by far the most likely candidate to contain something useful. Imprint, Stories from the Frontier and Further stories from the Frontier, may also be useful to read.

The in-game stuff is of-course the primary source.

Ah, the ā€œplanet with an alien construct that is a gateway to other universesā€ may well have been retconned. Since FD have said on several occasions there are no other galaxies implemented in ED then it seems to me certain that this has been retconned. Though I could believe Raxxla is a gateway to a planet in its own special instance, which would not require any other galaxy. Might be treasure stuff on that planet, might not...

Other galaxies meant something different to Rafe and Alex. They had eight 'galaxies' that were open to anyone. This is may also be significant for the 'mother of galaxies' line, in the toast.
Rafe never actually mentions 'other galaxies'. It's just 'other universes'. That is a bit more vague. It could be literally different universes, but it could also just be somewhere very different.

Personally I suspect that if the construct could be virtual, the other universes could also be virtual. If AI kills of their masters and escape, there is really no reason for them to settle in the physical universe.

It’s a tricky one. It does kind of mean something that’s been ā€˜built’ rather than something that has grown or developed naturally. So ā€˜artificial’ can be seen as integeral to ā€˜construct’ and thus extremely fitting for an AI.

The thing for me was that the term wasn’t used in the logs from the first Ram Tah mission, and then suddenly started being used heavily in the logs from the second.

One other difference though is that the logs from RT1 generally pertain to AIs in their virtual / network-based form, whereas the logs from RT2 generally pertain to AIs with a slightly more corporeal presence. So it could be a reflection of that.

It could also just be different writers, and use of a term that’s a bit fashionable. (Was watching S2 of Altered Carbons and the term ā€˜VR construct’ was used a fair bit.)

Nevertheless, it’s still definitely very suspicious the sudden use of it in ED given the Raxxla connection.

Dunno, but I did find out he wasn’t one of Drew’s creations! (I asked in one of Dreams streams.)

Was actually looking up that Lizard Galnet article last night, and spotted another Ricardo Bentonio article with the name cmdr Finn McMillan as the sign off for the article. Which unless I’m much mistaken is actually @Jaiotu !

Was it you behind those all along @Jaiotu ?!

Jaiotu did reappear briefly on this thread a couple of weeks ago, but I think he said he's off doing other things now & doesn't play ED.
Perhaps he found Raxxla!

For all we know they could really have been Raxxlans
Well, quite.

And a similar point from a slightly different angle - where did we get the name Raxxla from?

Guardians - just a name Ram Tah thought was appropriate, not the ā€˜Guardians’ actual name for themselves.

Thargoids - a name that comes from a very early close up video of an alien ship, in which some thought they could make out the letters T H A R G, and others swore it was just people seeing shapes in meangingless scratches. Again, almost certainly not what the ā€˜Thargoids’ actually call themselves.

So where did the word (or name) Raxxla come from?

Ricardo Bentonio is an FD created character. He first came to atention during the Starship One incident. Then he showed up again, to organize the leap year CG.
I think he still stays in Kruger 60, but it’s been quiet for a while.

On the galaxies front, I spotted an interesting little snippet in the Elite manual the other day, which I couldn’t remember particularly taking note of before.

Can’t remember if the particular text has been posted before or not.

Slightly open to interpretation, but could be read as confirmation that the systems in Elite were limited to just Galcop systems (or Galcop systems and systems Galcop maintained those mentioned links with, anyway.)

Edit - I might be misremembering, but I think you might have said similar before about the systems from Elite, @Han_Zen It’s just that particular piece of text that I can’t remember being posted before. šŸ˜€

Well that’s what I’d suspected but then I saw this Galnet article:

Which is labelled as a freelance article, and attributed to Jaiotu’s character.

Which seems to indicate that that particular article was done by Jaiotu, hence me wondering if the others might have been as well! šŸ˜€

No. They would have been labeled freelance.
We could all submit articles, back in the day.

I even had one publiched my self:https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/57c7fe999657badb5446a7f6

Yeah, I know people could submit articles back in the day. My point's just that Jaiotu appear to have had one published where he's the one who's written what Ricardo Bentonio said. Which makes it seem like something slipped through somewhere.

Anyway while we're on the subject, can I just say a big thank you for that article of yours! :D At that time I was still playing without using out of game info sources, and in retrospect I can safely say that articles like that made a massive difference to the game for me, and I think it would have been a very different (and much lesser) experience if they hadn't existed. And that one of yours was of particular significance, and even if I'd forgotten who'd wrote it, I remember the body of the article well! So thank you, it's always been much appreciated! (y)

I wrote that one because Lord Zoltan who wrote most Canonn articles, was backing down from the game. Funny thing is that the article was later put on the tourist beacon that orbits Merope 5C. Except for a few first discoveries, it's the only real mark I have put on the game. :)

Just finished Duke rank, now 5 more for Feds >:

Got 3 tip off messages during. Did 1 - found crashed ship with thargoid sensor there. Also could access and read ship's log. After relog it says "data encrypted" again.
So we can conclude all those crashed ships around may tell stories by "tip off" when you have key for 1 read.
Then I returned back to station where I got that mail, surprise - I could sell "intelligence data" there. I'm swear I had nothing before. So I think that was imperial spies who hired me.
Ship is at ALRAI SECTOR BR-Y D72 A2 A

So what are people researching/actively searching for at the moment in terms of Raxxla/DW/Anything else related....

I'm still hoping Fdev will confirm the LFT 509 and the mysterious Hip 34104 being outside of the system marker and non-selectable.... So it can be ruled out as a possible Dark Wheel location.

Bug report here if you haven't seen/tried it (if not please add to the bug and vote for it!)

Well on the DW invite....I am on the last leg of my trip around the rim. Trying to decide if I should come home and fight the good fight for TDW or scratch that itch and do a zig zag across the galaxy, so I can sell UC data from every galactic region to TDW in 1 hit. Yes I know galactic regions didn't hit until way after Beta (Beyond actually I think) but it's still my only chance to scratch the itch. Cant see myself doing such a trip again...

I've been searching for rare items only found in piracy like trinkets of hidden fortune and ai relics. Trinkets of hidden fortune have an interesting description that makes me think they are more important than just something to sell on the black market.
