VR support 'not at launch' for Odyssey

Frontier were planning to bring Horizons out for macOS, but nothing came of it (regardless of who was to blame). So planning for VR is laudible, but not much use if nothing comes of it.

That was down to the amount of support apple provides for mac gaming being far less effective than the support windows provides for mac gaming. It wasn't a specific game shift it was industry standardization.

Some VR headsets will probably not survive the standardization that seems to be going on with that now.

This is starting to become very silly. In that case you are not planning anything. You are just lying to yourself. So unless what you are actually trying to suggest is that FDEV is lying when they say they are exploring options for EDO VR, then I´d suggest better to leave this useless example argumentation line.
Or I could have been joking hence the smiley
Only FD truly know whether it is just lip service when they say they are looking into VR.
I hope it is a real effort.

I wonder if a vr expansion was a paid one how people would feel about it

Again you confuse me. Are you a rep for FDEV or an individual posting on a forums? Make up your mind or leave the discussion.

@mods, please consider the impact of your posts with the current flairs.

Mods are simply volunteers, as our title says. We are allowed to post our own opinions in a given thread but in doing so we forego the ability to moderate in said thread.

Please note that the volunteer moderators are permitted to 'get involved' in a debate or discussion on our forums. However, once they get involved to a thread, they've been advised to not actively moderate it due to a possible conflict of interest.

Yes, Viajero I know - but I dont agree with that. The very least you guys could do is remove the flair - or have as neutral a flair as possible. I also know that your current software does not feature this. Still, I dont like the fact that you can post here with such emphasis.

As this is derailing, I will leave it at this for now.

I didn't know the new forum had limits the old one didn't have. That is a shame.whilst I agree in principle when mods post as s fan it should be obvious to the plebs (of which I am one) but equally mods are just fans like all of us so to suggest they should not be able to post as fans is equally unfair.

I couldn't be a mod. Far to stressful. I would end up banning half the forum (myself included)

No project is guaranteed to arrive at a happy outcome, but there is a significant difference between lying to yourself or to the community and actually be working on it even if fails in the end.
Integrity wise I agree, but if VR was to me as important as it seems to many who use it in ED, the fact that Frontier tried and failed isn't likely to make a difference to a purchasing decision. Commercial reality is a two way street.

I so miss the ignore thread feature.

While on one hand I am glad we have Arf who is a community manager willing to toalk to us, I am dismayed by how little informtion the company are giving him to communicate to us. Essentially the recent dialogue, or would it be a trialogue with Arf being an intermidiary, has been:
FDev (through Tim Smith): No VR in Odyssey at launch as we think we'd goof it... ("Cannot deliver the VR experience wihtout compromise")
VR Guys: What the actual!!! Does at launch mean later or never? Can we fly under the new skies but not get out the pilots seat in VR? Why no VR in Odyssey? What is the hold up, tell us, we might be able to live with it?
Fdev: - Radio silence enues for over a month -
Arf --> VR Guys: I'm gonna try and get you some answers..
VR Guys: Cheers Arf...
<loop>
Arf --> Fdev: Got some questions from the players for you, particularly about VR in Odyssey
Fdev-->Arf: No Comment
Arf': Come on, the players are going nuts, got to give them some answers to these questions
Fdev-->Arf: we alredady told them through Tim - "more info nearer lauch"
<end loop>
Arf --> VR Guys: I am sorry its taken so long and I'm affraid that I've still got nothing concrete but apparently they are "exploring options" and if they find a way of making it work they'll be in touch
VR Guys: Cheers for trying arf but @FDev - y'all suck donkeys balls!

So given frontier's exemplary behaviour in this dialogue/negotiation, I think it is a bit rich that their volunteer representatives are now threatening to moderate the thread?

Too tempted not to ask: Who would decide who's troll and who's not? For example is a doctor on a forum of anti-vaxxers a troll? 😝
Everybody's entitled to own opinion, others get the ignore button. Everybody's happy 😂
Yeah, people throw the term around far too freely.
