Is there a docking request shortcut yet, or is it still 1-e-e-s-spacebar-s-spacebar-q-q-1

You mean it's not muscle memory yet? Doesn't even take me 2 seconds at this point.

I usually have docking permission before I realized I requested it.
Hahaha! That was funny! Exactly! There SHOULD be a button assignment for the docking request, I mean come on, they build an auto docking computer! But yeah, sometimes I go to request docking and notice I already did! Ha!

Here's my VoiceAttack docking command. It works great, but only with VoiceAttack and only if you are on the main Navigation tab.
Otherwise, it's kinda useless. I just do the "thumb dance". It's much simpler.

Why on earth did you necro this? In fact how did you even find the thread? It's not like you were searching for a solution to this issue because your reply would have been something like 'Yeah this needs to be fixed' or 'come on FDev, still haven't sorted this?' but you just laughed along with one of the replies.

Was wondering the very same thing myself Red - it was a weird necro to reanimate.

Voice Attack + std DC

Drop from SC

Hit boost towards station

Zero throttle

"Request Docking"

Go for coffee refill

No, but I think with space legs we should need to access our Wrist Automated Neural-Kinetic Elective Response display to punch in a few keys to open our ship doors and then once we're aboard we'll need to run to the alarm system and enter our pin.

My pin is going to be Christmas Day btw. Just let yourselves in. Beer in the fridge to the left of the lava lamp.

is there some sort of elite dangerous forum decorum that I'm missing does it matter that I've made a comment on a post that's old, I don't get why so many people seem to be upset about it

It's not usually considered good etiquette to bump a two and a half year old thread for no particular reason. Not only here but on the internet in general.

Note - it's hardly ruined my weekend or anything, just answering your question.

Haha I'm very sorry. these elite dangerous forums do seem to be populated by a lot of really persnickety ones but it's okay I'll shut up thank you 🙄

But don't let it spoil your day - it's not really meant seriously.
thank you I was just doing a search on the internet last night about binding a hotkey to the docking function and this just came up with a Google search I didn't even look at the date I just saw something and posted to it that was it my bad and no I won't let it ruin my day I think it's kind of funny that so many people get up in arms over it but to each their own thank you very much have a great weekend and fly dangerously

Like I said, I don't particularly give a toss anyway.

There is actually a good reason for it generally, things change over time in games and bumping old threads often leaves threads with out of date information on the front pages of the forum, which can then confuse newer players. Most obvious example would be anything about gathering engineering materials considering how many times the most efficient way to do that has changed since they were introduced.

It's not some weird quirk of a few people on this forum though, I've seen forums where you get an instant ban for necro.

That's a far worse crime than thread necro. Anyway I'm off to have chicken kebabs now. weeeeeeeeee
it's funny I've been using the "internet" since 1989 back in the old BBS days and I guess I still haven't learned proper decorum for posting but honestly I really don't care if they want to ban me for necroing an old Post then necro away 🙂👍. I usually don't even post to forums or anything like this other than commenting on YouTube videos and mostly just guitar videos that's it this whole elite dangerous forum thing is pretty new to me so maybe there is a rules and regulations page I should read haha 😄

Necroing a thread is just considered infra dig mainly because, as mentioned already, information is often outdated or superseded.

It is not specifically against the forum rules except perhaps as an interpretation of the "no bumping" rule, so it is just a "thing" not a "clime". ;)

(Plus it gives us a chance to quote Leviticus 20:27 or post amusing gifs. )
