So no progress this week. And the backers still giving them money😂

Edit: If you are spending time trying to make your grenade throwing system also feel great for throwing plushy penguins around then I suggest that possibly timely delivery is not the top of your priority list :)

Yeah, this is one thing that consistently gets me. How CIG priorotizes trivial stuff and pure fluff over core mechanics and gameplay. Its like they choose things they thing they can deliver on (although amazing how hard elevator panels appear to be!) in order to give the illusion of progress.

However, its also clear they are struggling with core mechanics because they have devised/promised such complex systems that they can't do them at all or else its really depedent on something else. Look at how many times salvage has been pushed back. I think many developers looking at the situation, and given the choice, rather than saying "Nope, we can't do it like we want to until we have X" would simply say, ok, let the ship blow up and spawn some drops. That's not hard, that is how ED does it, that's how many MMOs and other games do it. They don't worry about itemizing and physicalizing what the object has. They just spawn a corpse along with whatever it drops.

Its not fideletious, but generally players don't give a damn, they just want the loot. And it can be done with relative ease and speed and is no longer a blocker.

Sure, we would then poke fun at CIG for not living up to their promises of how they said they would do things, but part of the reason we poke fun in the first place is because we know how much effort this sort of thing will cost them (assuming they can do it at all) and that the better solution is to actually deliver the gameplay sooner so people can get playing with it. And, if they really want, then some years after release, spend silly efforts physicalizing all the salvage... for minimal returns in terms of actual gameplay.

No notable change means no moving/adding/removing/completion of cards.

To see the progress, you can follow the tracker of Ivtiprogramer that check progress/regress

Really beginning to feel sorry for those elevator panels. Such a major feature as well! I don't know how backers console themselves over it.

Personally my favourites are when cards are removed from the roadmap or progress goes backwards. Always good for a chuckle.

If the art assets chucked into a game engine overwhelm it so the game never releases, the art assets never existed. This is not hard to understand! :)

Okay, I think I understand, that line of thinking.
Is this why when people say,
" there is no SQ42, they made it all up"
What they mean is that until it is fully formed and released to the public it can not be considered to exist. But they accept that CIG has internal playable portions of an unknown amount?

Because they don't know law and have no clue what is technically legal and what isn't? Because they don't actually have incriminating evidence that would hold up in court? Because suspecting is pretty different from being fully convinced? Because being convinced isn't enough, you also need to convince a judge/jury?

Or are you telling us you have personally written to the ICC to report the various dodgy head of states whose conduct these days is less than stellar?

Or maybe, because one doesn't care enough to summon the law, but is enjoying ranting about it on a forum? Or because one may feel that the victims (if they are victims) more or less deserve it having the same information available and having the opportunity to get out by themselves should they wish to? Or because it's actually personal and they refuse to do it purely to spite you?

If no explanation works for you, let me know, I'm sure I can brainstorm a few more. :D

Fishy, I agree that all the explanations you have suggested are defensible to some extent except for the ones in BOLD. I presume that prosecutors and law enforcement often take action (investigation probably) based on mere suspicion and there is always doubt that a court will convict, which is why courts exist. A member of the public does not need to give law enforcement a fully complete and investigated case.

With regards to the underlined part. The difference between that example and the posters on this forum, is that I do not post about anyone including heads of state having committed crimes. If I thought that for instance a person might be involved in child abuse, I would not post about it here, I would report it to my local police deal with it.

Maybe I am different. Over the years I have stood at the counter in two electrical shops and refused to move until they dealt with me in line with consumer law. The second time security called the police, the police talked to me and told the shop that my action was not criminal and left us too it. They eventually gave me a new appliance to replace the faulty one I had bought from them.

My point is take action, do not just moan about it on an obscure corner of the internet.

edit.
My views on CIG's failings are not as strong as some posters here, and so my response has been proportionate in the form of a lack of further support. I have only spent the minimum amount on the game (which it now seems does not exist:confused:) But I have had lots more entertainment from playing it that other games that I have bought. I am frustrated with the pace of development and I also am aware that the project might end up with an underwhelming MVP or it may collapse. So my response has been to not give them any more money, despite being tempted by an Avenger Titan

Removing of cards is rare now.

And for regress, it's often due to tasks added to a card. For instance the last week the 100i had 35 tasks, now it have 50 tasks (+15 task added). So despite the +4 tasks completed, the whole card have regressed in % of completed tasks.

True but look at the basic game loops / game mechanics. You should put this in relation to 9 years of development.

Not to mention the sheer wealth and abundance of systems to travel to, jumpgates to discover, alien civilisations to trade with / declare war upon, and 1000's of players gathering up to protect core systems from the insidious but ever-present Vandull threat and support the mighty 42's!

6 years for me, I count from the reboot.

What reboot?

CI-G haven't even delivered upon their initial pitch - let alone released a product that has run through it's lifecycle to reach an appropriate sequel / reboot stage :D

Has Wobblechin Waveyhands given you any of this at all for your money and time? He certainly hasn't given me either of the two games and assorted goodies that the lying, incompetent, inept underachiever promised and owes me and every other backer.

With other game developers, that would be the case.

In the case of CIG... they have such a long history of passing off machinima videos as gameplay presentations, complete with Christopher Roberts or other presenters fiddling with controllers to make it look like it's happening "live," that I'm no longer willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. IIRC, it's been five years since one of the QA testers claimed to have played "every single mission." After a while, you accept that no matter how nicely they crimp the edges of the crust, and how attractively they garnish the parsley, what they're trying to pass off as apple is really moose turd pie.

Bingo!!!

YES!!! I finally completed my Bingo card!!!

What do I win?

Absolutely no game in sight!

(sigh)
