Frontier is adding space legs so you can walk... instead of drive... around planets.
I don't think FD expect players to walk around planets, although i suspect someone will try.. They expect them to walk around to complete new missions use the new features for space legs. Also, its not "instead" but as well as. You will still be able to drive.
All of the ship command bridges exist, but you can't get up and walk around in them.
We don't know yet. Maybe you will be able to walk around the bridges. Exiting the ship most likely will be a fade to black menu option though. A shame, but looks like we will have to wait longer for walkable ship interiors. Possibly a lot longer. And if it comes down to a choice of getting Odyssey next year or waiting another year (just pulling a duration from my rear end here) for FD to add walkable ship interiors, then i'll take the earlier release and hope they are adding interiors later.
Instead of cleaning up the command decks so you can walk around in them, they're focusing their staff on making a bunch of brand new environments like space-cafes, social hubs.
Not sure what you mean by cleaning up command decks. Pretty sure if FD made our avatars walkable the would be able to walk around the existing command decks. People have done so in VR. Also, horrors! FD adding new environments! Quick! Break out the pitckforks! Yes, they are adding new environments as part of the update.
There is no VR support for finally being able to walk around, despite the fact that numerous VR FPS games have already been created demonstrating a variety of approaches to implementation.
Yup, FD have said they are looking into it. Again, if it comes down to the choice of waiting for release or getting it in 2021. I'll take the 2021 release, especially since i don't have VR. I do hope for the VR players that FD can do this in the not too distant future. They can't just go to the devs of those other games and say "Gib code plz!" then wave a magic wand and have it all somehow work in ED. They have to write the code themselves.
Now, if you think FD should have done all the things you wanted them to do in the time they have taken, that's fine. Everyone has their own ideas of how fast devs should work, which often doesn't correspend to reality, but people are free to believe whatever they want. It just doesn't make it reality.
