Yes, in Anyanwu. Updated post for clarity. Kids were going nuts when I wrote it.

Trade for influence has changed since 2017. Now it is all about $$$ profit (not raw sales, the actual profit you make).

There is some debate ongoing about if having a non-zero demand matters. Plus people still arguing both sides about mining materials and other high profit stuff as per my earlier post.

Trading several different materials from different stations does not seem to matter any more. This is something we (the bgs groups I work with) have tested a bit, but not fully proven.

Best to cover all bases - trade millions of credits worth of the top selling products for which a demand exists.

Trade is one thing I have to hand to SC...knowing where to go to buy low and where to sell high. It can be quite profitable. Trade centers and all. It feels like walking into Wall Street.

In the case of Elite? This should be a HUGE BGS impact. And very profitable Commander trade. At the moment it all seems to just cater toward farming your own commodities and selling for 100% profit. E.g. you can't seem to make a reasonable living buying Tritium or diamonds, low, at one system and selling high at another. If there is a way? I don't seem to know how and nobody is talking about it, as if it were a profession. In SC? The market moves so fast, that by time other commanders catch on to the trend it's very well possible they just dumped millions into med supplies/ cargo for nothing, as too many will have beaten then to the punch and at that point all you can hope to achieve is to break even...or, just dump the cargo all together, if you're ****ed enough.

The thing is? We have the tools to do it. It's just that we need to get rid of seemingly never ending mining rushes ( or severely nerf them), as well as overpaying passenger missions. This will bring actual trade back into the picture. Still, though...there's nothing like walking into a room full of large displays, with numbers on them lol. It feels serious.

[Edited some fat-thumbing/ spell correct errors. My bad.]

Orders 25 - 26 Aug 3306

HR 4979 slipped a bit but that was probably due to some prep work by Black Sky Legion.
Our target system is well in hand and the other factions that could be potential problems are relatively safe.
Election in Anyanwu has 1 more day to go. War in LFT 926 has 2 more.
Our expansion may happen at next tick, but more likely the one after.
Orders remain the same for another day.

Expansion due ~27th aug.

Please do not do any of the following as they help the enemy:
Do NOT work for other factions in our systems, unless requested in the orders.
Do NOT hand in bounties for any faction other than The Dark Wheel in our systems.
Do NOT hand in trade goods or cartography data to stations that we do not own.

Tasks for today:

Bounty Hunting & Combat:
  • Bounty Hunting in LFT 926, Anyanwu or HR 4979. Hand in to HR 4979 or Shinrarta
  • Bounty hunting at the compromised Nav beacon in Anyanwu is also good.
  • WAR - Conflict zones in LFT 926 supporting CIA against Los Chupacabras

Commodity Trading
  • Profitable trades into Iqbal Hub in HR 4979 or Bunsen in Anyanwu (for LHS 346 Democrats)
  • Profitable trades into TDW owned ground stations in Shinrarta

Missions & Passengers
  • Missions for TDW in HR 4979
  • Missions for TDW in Shinrarta
  • Combat related missions for CIA in LFT 926
  • Missions for LHS 346 Democrats in Anyanwu. Non-combat ones only.

Exploration Data:
  • Hand in to Iqbal Hub in HR 4979
  • Hand in TDW ground stations in Shinrarta

Please continue to use EDMC or similar tools to keep local data up to date.

Keep Spinning The Wheel, Hamsters!

Been hitting the Anyanwu comp beacon pretty hard. Handed in over 10 mil to HR, last night. Took a quick diversion for a second, to churn out some quick merits and unlock my Packhounds... and then I'll be right back to it.

Who is Black Sky Legion? Is that the same as Black Sky Division? That's the only one I could find in EDDB. It sounds like they are a commercial group? I'd have figured that a good name for a Club oriented group LOL

Stage 3a question - why does them being low mean bad things for us? To an outsider if theyre low they are weaker surely? Or is the controlling faction is too strong and this stops expansion?
Generally we don't want a faction too low in a system within our expansion radius that is NOT the target of our expansion. If they are too low, they may "Retreat" from that system and we may end up expanding to / invading a system that is not our target. Worst case scenario is we end up going the opposite direction and lose weeks of work and preparation.

Delicate balance... Targeted expansion is not just preparing the system you want to go to, it also requires making sure that no other systems are possible to go to. It is also necessary to make sure no other faction is able to expand to the target system before we do. The target system is generally kept non-public (to most) to prevent active opposition. Timing is extremely important (pending states, cooldowns, etc.)

That's why it's nice to have @Cryptography keeping track of the BGS. It does require our help. While traveling anywhere within our expansion radius, keep 3rd party apps like EDMC running so the BGS stats for those systems are as up to date as possible on the various BGS tool sites.

This should help, @Staarlord ...

Black Sky Legion is Kai's special ops group. They at the moment are targeted on tasks close to home, getting influence levels up high in our system. For the last couple of days they have been building reputation with the factions in HR 4979 so that in a day or two they can do negative actions against those factions to help free up influence.

Rabid Hamsters are "my" special ops group, who do tasks a bit further afield, quietly manipulating systems to ensure that our target is the one we expand to.

Psyral's post above is pretty much spot on. Getting an expansion-via-invasion to go where you want is a bit tricky to pull off. We have this time around had to keep our target system and the target non-native faction within that system, artificially high influence because there were two other hostile expansions that could have hit our target. Now that they have successfully been diverted elsewhere, we have been able to drop the influence of our chosen faction to the lowest in the Anyanwu cube. The systems in the Hamster-Lite orders are both around 5.5% or so, so could potentially drop low enough in a single day to cause issues. We also were preparing a plan B system, but as that is messing with another player group we have by agreement stopped that activity.

We should be in our new system either this tick or next. I'm pretty excited, this one has been tricky to pull off. I have been helped along in this by one of my Rabid Hamsters, Micha, who has been learning how to do this stuff.

Orders 26 - 27 Aug 3306

Our expansion is exactly on target for next tick. Well done!
We had a slight uptick on HR 4979 which should continue for the next few days.
Anyanwu will drop sharply when the expansion goes live - this is not a concern.
The Election in Anyanwu completed the way we wanted. The war in LFT 926 progresses well too.
Orders mostly the same yet again.

Would it be wiser? At this point? If we hold onto our bounty vouchers for the new system?

If you cash in bounty vouchers, they will only benefit the ruling faction - which, in a new system, won't be TDW.

I'm pretty sure you can cash in TDW bounty vouchers in any system where we have a presence. So, you can kill the ships in Anyanwu, for example, and turn them into a system where we're not in control and it will still benefit TDW.

You just don't want to bounty hunt in a system we don't control because you earn bounties for the controlling faction.

Mission selections in Corycia are fine, just be aware that all ports-of-call in the neighboring system Medb are >1.68M Ls from the drop-in point. Assassination missions are good because most of the time the poor souls come to you (like moths to light).

Yes: M = million

Lyvan Kitaen has it right. You can farm TDW bounties elsewhere and hand them in to our new system, even though we are not in control of anything yet. Bounties are not tied to a station or system, but rather to the faction so are portable between systems.

There are decent RES sites in both Anyanwu and HR 4979 that are much easier to farm than poor old LFT 926 ever was. Retaining ownership of these two systems is important for our growth for some time to come.

Medb was one of the destination systems for passenger mission farming back before that was nerfed into the ground. One of my alts farmed up enough money for an Anaconda on this and similar long distance runs. I think the most popular run started from Rhea.

Okay, thanks! That's what I'll do then. I was always under the impression that handing vouchers into another faction's station, in another system, actually decreases their influence, so if that's the case? That can help the cause. And, right, bounty hunting in an uncontrolled system is bad, because that's points to the controlling faction. Basically you're playing security for that faction in control. That part I at least knew lol.
